6 arrested on kanwariya's complaint of attack
Varanasi: Police arrested six persons accused of attacking a saffron-clad kanwariya after an FIR was lodged on his complaint on Monday night. The kanwariya was allegedly assaulted by a shoe trader and his companions while the pilgrim was chanting 'Bol Bam' slogans while passing through the area. This led to a violent clash between locals and kanwariyas in Rajatalab area on Varanasi-Prayagraj highway tense. DCP Gomati Zone Akash Patel said on Tuesday that FIR was lodged against six persons on complaint of the injured kanwariya. The alleged attackers, Noor Hasan, Sharafat Ali, Mohammad Latif, Munawwar and Alauddin from different localities under the Rajatalab police station area and Salamuddin of Mehandiganj, were arrested. He added that further investigation was in progress, while police and PAC were deployed to maintain law and order, especially on the kanwariya route. When they protested, they were abused and beaten with sticks and sharp weapons. Shubham's head was injured and Paltu sustained injuries too. The assailants allegedly dragged them into a house near the shoe shop and beat them up. Both Kanwariyas escaped and informed their companions about the incident. In the meantime, a video of the beating also went viral, sparking anger among kanwariyas and villagers. They blocked the Jansa-Rajatalab road in protest and also indulged in vandalism and brick-batting. Police used mild force to disperse the gathering. After pacifying the situation, police lodged FIR and started arresting the assailants.

Man abducted, beaten to death by ‘school friends' in Gurugram; 7 arrested
A 22-year-old man was beaten to death by seven people he was acquainted with since his school days over a dispute in Faridabad, police said on Tuesday, adding that six suspects and one minor were apprehended in connection with the crime. 'The deceased and the suspects were school friends. However, a dispute took place between them in an inebriated condition while attending a wedding five months ago. Since then, all seven suspects developed enmity with Patel,' he said. On a complaint from Patel's mother, an assault case was initially registered at the Sector 7 police post. Murder charges were added after Patel's death on Tuesday.

Varanasi: Panic broke out at Varanasi airport after a Canadian national aboard a Bengaluru-bound IndiGo flight claimed he was carrying a bomb on Saturday night. Following his claim, the flight was taken back to the apron of Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport from the runway and was checked for several hours by CISF and the bomb disposal squad before it was allowed to depart on Sunday morning. Subsequently, he started making alarming declarations about carrying explosives in his baggage and also started shouting religious slogans. All the passengers spent the night in the terminal building. After receiving clearance from security agencies, the aircraft departed for Bengaluru at 7 am on Sunday, officials said.

The Indigo flight had taken off from Varanasi on Saturday when the Canadian national passenger, Nishant, said that there was a bomb inside it. Akash Patel, DCP, Gomti zone, Varanasi, in a video on the social media platform X, informed that emergency protocol was initiated after the information was received and the flight landed at Varanasi airport. After checking the luggage of passengers, it was determined that the bomb information was a hoax. He said, " Yesterday, on 26th April, a passenger in the IndiGo flight which took off from Varanasi, said that there was a bomb inside the flight. After that, emergency protocols were initiated, and the flight was made to land at Varanasi airport. The plane and the luggage of the passengers were checked. Later, it was found out that the information was a hoax." The DCP added that Nishat gave this information and was handed over to the police.
