My weight never affected my work, says Delnaaz Irani
Delnaaz Irani is comfortable in her own skin. She says she never fit conventional industry standards. She believes her weight never hindered her work. Delnaaz Irani has never fit the industry's conventional mould, and she's fine with that. 'I was pleasantly plump as they used to call me. But everybody liked the way I was. I stood out from the typical faces and body types and I guess that helped me make my own space,' she says talking to Mumbai Mirror. Known for her comic timing and light-hearted roles in films like Kal Ho Naa Ho and Milenge Milenge and TV shows like Yes Boss and Akbar Birbal, Delnaaz says her body type never got in the way. 'My work was never hampered due to my weight. Even now, I'm heavier than I was in the 1990s, but I'm doing more work. Recently, I was offered a negative role, and that was exciting for me.' She has tried various fitness routines over the years. 'I've done walking, yoga, dieting, but it has to come from within.' Delnaaz doesn't shy away from current weight loss trends either. 'If I ever try Ozempic or any other option in the market, I'll say it openly. Why lie? If I want to drastically transform, I will, and I'll be vocal about it.' For now, she's content and confident. Delnaaz says, 'I'm in a very happy space. Personally, professionally and mentally. And that's what truly matters. When your mind is happy, your body reacts accordingly.'

Delnaaz Irani on her knee injury says, 'I had to take a step back and focus on health, but work won't suffer'
Despite a persistent knee injury, actress Delnaaz Irani remains dedicated to her work in television and on stage. Actress Delnaaz Irani, despite her knee injury, continues to keep shooting for TV and performing on stage. Sharing about her knee injury, she says, 'This was last year, around August, when I had a major fall, but I took a painkiller and ignored it for a while. I had a fall again at home on the same knee after a few months, and that's when I went to a doctor who told me that it was a ligament tear. I didn't want to get it operated so he gave me medicines and asked me to do physiotherapy." She adds, 'I was recovering nicely until the pain returned. I had to take a step back and focus on health, and I even thought of quitting theatre, but the makers of the play, Akbar Birbal, made a few changes in the script, which allowed me to continue it. I'm thankful that they considered my situation and I didn't have to give on something that I love doing. On the other hand, I am also shooting for the TV show Mannat. I have been able to manage it because I do get a break between shots and it is not hectic for me and my work will not suffer. ' On juggling multiple projects, she says, 'I will continue doing my TV show Mannat as well. I can't sit idly at home, I am a workaholic. But I am also taking care of my knee as the doctor has adviced me. I'm such a happy person when I'm doing theatre. Apart from that, I have more projects in the pipeline which I am working on and excited for people to see once it is out.'
