Konami and Bloober Team Officially Announced Remake of the Original Silent Hill

Image via: Konami In a long-awaited move, Konami has officially announced a full remake of the original Silent Hill (1999), entrusting the project to Bloober Team. The surprise announcement, which took place as part of Konami's 'Press Start' digital showcase, saw a fog-drenched teaser accompanied by the iconic score of Akira Yamaoka welcoming gamers back to the origin point of psychological survival horror. Though the announcement lacked a potential release window, or which platforms it will support, it's an exciting new chapter for the franchise. Fresh off reimagining Silent Hill 2 to critical acclaim for its visual score and emotional depth, Bloober Team is now set to reimagine the game that first established the town's terrifying mood. Bloober Team and Konami: A Growing Partnership The partnership between Bloober Team and Konami seems to be developing into a permanent bond. Earlier this year, Bloober CEO Piotr Babieno highlighted the strength of this partnership, mentioning it 'incredibly fruitful.' He hinted that the studios are collaborating on 'something really amazing,' but kept his cards close about the details. For starters, the game is nearly 30 years old, quite an achievement considering the state of horror games that spend a couple of dedicated months between development and release. Returning to the first entry is the most logical move narratively. It is a true sequel to the first game, so trailing back and remaking the original lays a much stronger foundation for any potential future remake. Curiously, Silent Hill has been through this cycle once before. 2009's Silent Hill: Shattered Memories reinterpreted the original for the Wii with psychological profiling and an adapted narrative. Whether Bloober's upcoming remake will draw from that reimagining or stick more closely to the 1999 PlayStation classic is still to be seen. BREAKING!! Silent Hill 1 Remake CONFIRMED by Konami!! What's Next for the Franchise? With Silent Hill due to release this September and Bloober Team's very own sci-fi horror adventure Cronos: The New Dawn coming out this Autumn too, all may be waiting a while for the new Silent Hill remake to reappear with major news. Yet, one thing is certain, Silent Hill is anything but silent.

Konami Press Start Event To Highlight Metal Gear Solid Delta and Silent Hill f This Week

Although Summer Game Fest 2025 presentations have ended, Konami Press Start is an event set to show off new details about Silent Hill f and Metal Gear Solid Delta, and it starts this week. As the sun sets on Summer Game Fest 2025 presentations, Konami looks forward to the future with the Konami Press Start Event. After virtually no news has been made regarding upcoming Konami games at the SGF 2025 showcase, the Xbox Games Showcase and PlayStation State of Play 2025, Konami has announced their press event and it's happening this week. The Press Start showcase will begin on Thursday, June 12, at 9:00 a.m. ET, where it will highlight about 37 minutes of Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, Silent Hill f, and more. The official Konami YouTube account has already released the video placeholder for the upcoming showcase, and in traditional Konami fashion, they announced that they will be covering Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, Silent Hill f and teased the idea of a potential surprise announcement with 'and MORE' on the video description. The team behind Silent Hill f has notably remained silent since the March 2025 reveal, which showcased the title's new Japanese location, Ryukishi07's involvement and the return of Akira Yamaoka as composer. The official Konami Press Start event video is above and will start in 46 hours as of this post, but fans can also head over to the official Konami YouTube channel on Thursday, June 12 at 9:00 a.m. EST to catch it live. With the surprise announcement of Final Fantasy XVI heading to Xbox this week, it's possible Konami could be seeking to release Silent Hill 2 Remake on Xbox as well. In two days, fans will have their answers from the Press Start event so while it is fun to speculate, fans should wait until the event concludes to draw conclusions.

"That, to me, is what Silent Hill truly embodies": Silent Hill f's A-list team now includes legendary series composer Akira Yamaoka

Silent Hill is just as famous for its skin-tingling soundscape as it is for those iconic monster designs, so series enjoyers can now look forward to new music from legendary series composer Akira Yamaoka who's back in the booth for Silent Hill f. Konami gave its upcoming Japan-set horror game the full blowout yesterday with a full trailer, some of the spookiest monsters in series history, a character reveal, a deliciously scary disclaimer, and more. Alongside a ton of other information, the publisher also revealed that Yamaoka is back after having written music for every single numbered Silent Hill game, a bunch of spin-offs, and countless other horror projects like Slitterhead, the funky horror-action game from Silent Hill's OG creator. (Plus, the likes of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners... this man's resume is extensive.) "In terms of music, the focus was not on using classical instruments to complement the depiction of the setting or to express the 'old time' of Japan, but rather on capturing the uncanny 'humidity' and 'scent' of Japan itself," Yamaoka writes on social media. "That, to me, is what Silent Hill truly embodies." "A story set not in modern Japan, but in ancient Japan," he notes. "While its world may feel unfamiliar, it strangely resonates with me as a Japanese person. Within that world, my own soul was nurtured, and I strongly felt how it continues to influence my creative work today." Yamaoka joins an A-list team that also happens to include famed writer Ryukishi07, who proved he can do spooky and depressing in his beloved horror manga series When They Cry, alongside Dynasty Warriors composer Kensuke Inage and Silent Hill 2 Remake producer Motoi Okamoto.
