US dollar exchange rate drops in Baghdad, remains stable in Erbil
Baghdad ( – The exchange rate for the US dollar compared to the Iraqi dinar slightly declined on Sunday in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, and remained stable in the capital of the Kurdistan region of Iraq, Erbil. The US dollar exchange rate declined in Baghdad's Al-Kifah and Al-Harithiya stock exchanges, reaching 1,446 Iraqi dinars compared to 1,447.5 Iraqi dinars on Sunday morning. The exchange rate in currency exchange shops in Baghdad ranged between 1,455 Iraqi dinars and 1,435 Iraqi dinars, Shafaq News reported. In Erbil, the US dollar exchange rate remained stable, fluctuating between 1,447 and 1,445.5 Iraqi dinars. The Central Bank of Iraq (CBI) said in February 2023 that it has begun using the new US dollar exchange rate of 1,300 dinars to every US dollar. The previous official exchange rate was 1,450 dinars to one US dollar, which was being exchanged in the parallel market at a rate of 1,550 dinars. While the official exchange rate was 1,450 dinars per dollar in January 2023, the US currency was being exchanged at 1,610 dinars during the same month in the parallel market in Iraq. This variation represented a more than 10 percent difference in exchange rates.

USD/IQD exchange rates hold ground in Baghdad, dip in Erbil
Shafaq News/ On Saturday, the US dollar exchange rates remained stable in Baghdad, while Erbil recorded a slight decline as trading closed for the day. According to a Shafaq News survey, Al-Kifah and Al-Harithiya central stock exchanges registered a rate of 147,300 IQD per $100, unchanged from the morning rate. In local exchange markets across the capital, the selling price remained at 148,500 IQD per $100, while the buying price was 146,500 IQD. In Erbil, the selling price was 147,050 IQD per $100, while the buying price was 146,950 IQD.
