Saudi Arabia's Al-Junaidi Becomes 1st Arab to Chair IMSO Advisory Committee

Engineer Kamal Al-Junaidi, the Permanent Representative of Saudi Arabia to the International Maritime Organization (IMO), made history by chairing the 51st session of the Advisory Committee of the International Mobile Satellite Organization (IMSO), held from June 9 to 13, 2025. He is the first Arab to assume this role—marking a significant milestone for both Saudi Arabia and the Arab world in global maritime governance. Al-Junaidi's leadership of the IMSO Advisory Committee underscores the Kingdom's prominent role in international maritime institutions and its commitment to enhancing maritime communication and safety systems. In his role, he facilitated discussions and guided deliberations among member states, working to build consensus on critical matters. Moreover, these included oversight of the Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS), the implementation of Long Range Tracking and Safety (LRTS) standards, and the auditing processes of satellite communication service providers. He also led discussions on proposed amendments to maritime safety regulations, monitored IMSO's strategic alignment with IMO standards, and presented the committee's recommendations to the General Assembly for final approval. The 51st session, held at IMO headquarters in London, brought together representatives from 44 countries. Finally, over the five-day meeting, participants addressed a range of pressing issues affecting the global maritime sector. Abyan governor: Unity people's fate, cannot be touched

Sana'a - Saba: Governor of Abyan, Saleh Al-Junaidi, affirmed that Yemeni unity is the destiny of the people, and that destiny is not open to compromise or tampering. In a statement to the Yemeni News Agency (Saba), Governor Al-Junaidi indicated that Yemeni unity, despite all the mistakes that occurred during the first years of its realization, remains a major historical achievement and one of the most important national constants to which the Yemeni people adhere, as they are the true stakeholders. He explained that the conspiracies being hatched today by the historical enemies of unity, the Saudis and the Emiratis, place all free Yemenis before a historical and national responsibility to preserve unity. The Governor of Abyan emphasized the commitment of the Leader of the Revolution, Sayyed Abdulmalik Badr al-Din al-Houthi, and the President of the Supreme Political Council, Mahdi al-Mashat, to addressing the southern grievances resulting from the Saleh regime's coup against the unity agreement and the undermining of the peaceful nature of this achievement, which was achieved by the people of Yemen in the various southern, eastern, and northern governorates. He described the ongoing Saudi-Emirati support for fragmentation and division projects in the southern governorates under various pretexts as futile attempts that will clash with the Yemeni people's awareness and commitment to their political and social unity. Governor Al-Junaidi called on the people of the southern governorates to reject all small projects that target national unity and to prevent the country from returning to the era of fragmentation and division. He emphasized that the colonial powers are attempting to exploit the repercussions of the Saudi-American aggression to implement old agendas and ambitions that they had previously failed to implement before and after the October 14, 1963 Revolution, and will not be able to achieve after 60 years of independence and liberation from foreign colonialism. He noted that history cannot and will not go back. He pointed out that Yemen is today at the height of its strength, thanks to God and the efforts of the revolutionary and political leadership, and that all plans hostile to Yemeni unity will be doomed to complete failure. Governor Al-Junaidi congratulated the Leader of the Revolution and the President and members of the Supreme Political Council on the occasion of the 35th National Day of the Republic of Yemen (May 22), asking God Almighty to bring it back with victory and empowerment for the Yemeni people and the Arab and Islamic nations.
