Committee Approves JD 930,000 in Rural Electricity Projects for 215 Sites The Higher Steering Committee for the Rural Fils has approved the list of homes and locations that will benefit from electricity connection through conventional power networks. The total number reached 215 homes and sites across various regions of the Kingdom, with a total cost of JD 930,000, according to Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Saleh Al-Kharabsheh. اضافة اعلان In a press statement issued on Tuesday, Al-Kharabsheh said the projects target residential clusters and economic sites both inside and outside officially zoned areas. The expansion comes after recent revisions to the criteria governing electricity access through the Rural Fils, allowing wider coverage and stronger support for marginalized populations. Hisham Al-Momani, Director of the Electricity and Rural Electrification Directorate at the Ministry, outlined the details: JD150,000 was allocated for a group of five homes outside zoning boundaries, JD155,000 for another group of three, and JD48,000 to connect individual homes using existing grid infrastructure. Additional funding includes JD 3,000 to help electrify homes of low-income families within organized areas, and JD 47,000 to supply power to livestock, poultry, and fish farms located in poverty pockets, part of the government's efforts to support agricultural production and boost self-reliance. A separate JD 20,000 was set aside to install lighting along roads leading to cemeteries, ensuring safe access for citizens during nighttime burials. The Committee also committed JD 300,000 to productive, industrial, and investment projects in unregulated and economically challenged areas, provided these initiatives create jobs for Jordanians and contribute to local development. Support continues with JD 82,000 directed toward farms with artesian wells, JD 12,000 for cooperative and charitable organizations, and JD 20,000 for a range of government and agricultural initiatives. Over the past ten years, the Rural Fils has also invested JD 49,000 to upgrade transformer stations, helping to improve electricity quality and reduce technical losses in the network. In a move toward sustainable energy, the Committee approved the installation of grid-connected solar systems for 44 homes belonging to low-income families and recipients of National Aid. The solar systems aim to reduce monthly electricity bills and enhance the financial well-being of some of the Kingdom's most vulnerable households. (Petra)

Legal expert outlines repercussions for Muslim Brotherhood financial scheme in Jordan
In the ongoing investigation by Jordanian authorities into the Muslim Brotherhood's illegal activities in Jordan, legal expert and former Minister of State for Legal Affairs, Mahmoud Al-Kharabsheh, stated that the group is 'fundamentally illegal,' a status affirmed by an earlier and definitive Court of Cassation ruling, the highest legal court in Jordan. Speaking to Roya, Al-Kharabsheh explained that the banned group allegedly used millions of dinars in illicit activities, with around 30 million dinars collected through various suspicious methods. This included registering funds in the names of individual members through direct ownership or company shares. Investigations have revealed that some of these funds were used to finance suspicious campaigns in 2020, as well as support activities and cells that have since been apprehended and referred to the judiciary. Al-Kharabsheh noted that authorities seized approximately 4 million dinars that an individual attempted to hide in a home north of Amman. He added that these collected funds, mostly gathered from citizens, were purportedly intended for Gaza. Expected Legal Consequences and Implications Regarding legal consequences, Al-Kharabsheh emphasized that the group is completely unlicensed and its existence is illegal. He anticipates that the judiciary will issue just rulings against the group, which exploited unofficial circumstances to violate the law. He highlighted that operations were conducted secretly, involving the transfer of funds abroad via currency exchange shops and investments in apartment purchases, among other methods. Al-Kharabsheh expects several laws to be applied against the group, including the Associations Law (which penalizes illegal fundraising), the Anti-Illicit Enrichment Law, the Anti-Money Laundering Law, and the Penal Code, which punishes such illegal activities. Concerning the potential impact on the Islamic Action Front Party, Al-Kharabsheh indicated that investigations revealed the banned group used the party's premises to cover its activities. Should a connection between the banned group and the party be proven, the Independent Election Commission would take appropriate legal action under the Political Parties Law.

He noted that the Ministry is currently revising the results indicators for initiatives spanning 2025–2029, and is working closely with sector partners to prepare the Executive Program for 2026–2029, with regular, intensive coordination meetings being held for that purpose. The first-quarter report on the Executive Program—published on the Government Performance Platform—outlined several key accomplishments: 740 solar water heaters funded and installed. 6 gas wells drilled in the Risha gas field. Signing of an additional Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with green hydrogen developers, bringing the total to 14 MoUs. One framework agreement also signed in the green hydrogen sector. Dr. Al-Kharabsheh reaffirmed the Ministry's commitment to ensuring that all projects under the Economic Modernization Vision are closely monitored, efficiently implemented, and results-driven, in line with Jordan's long-term development goals.

Minister of Energy: Al-Samra Power Generation Company Contributes About 30% of Jordan's Electricity Needs
On Thursday, the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Saleh Al-Kharabsheh, sponsored the Independence Day celebration organized by Al-Samra Power Generation Company in the Hashmiya area of Zarqa Governorate. The event was attended by the Director General of the National Electric Power Company, the Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Energy and Minerals Regulatory Commission, and several officials and dignitaries from Zarqa city. اضافة اعلان Al-Kharabsheh stated that Al-Samra Power Generation Company contributes about 30% of the Kingdom's electricity needs, making it one of the largest and most important energy companies in Jordan. He reviewed the achievements in the energy sector, noting that Al-Samra station began commercial production in 2005 with the first gas turbine having a capacity of 100 megawatts. The station's current nominal capacity has reached 1,241 megawatts, with a total capacity expected to reach 1,834 megawatts by 2025. He explained that the station is managed with high efficiency by national staff, with a large portion coming from Zarqa Governorate, which enhances the company's role in supporting local communities and creating job opportunities. Al-Kharabsheh emphasized that the economic modernization vision serves as a roadmap for Jordan, viewing the energy sector as a key driver for other sectors and a main pillar of the national economy. He stressed the importance of confronting current challenges, turning them into opportunities, and aiming to achieve many future ambitions. He also noted that the government is working to fully secure the Kingdom's natural gas needs from the Risha field within the next five years, thanks to the efforts of the National Petroleum Company's teams. For his part, the Director General of Al-Samra Power Generation Company, Engineer Sami Al-Zwaitin, praised the company's achievements since its establishment in 2005 until 2025, during which electricity production increased about twelvefold. Al-Zwaitin added that the company operates with Jordanian hands, pointing out that it contributes to generating more than 30% of the country's electricity production, and that Jordan has witnessed significant development in the energy sector, especially electricity.

Energy Minister: 55 Million Cubic Meters of Gas Annually and 145 Wells by 2030 - Jordan News
Jordan's Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Saleh Al-Kharabsheh, announced on Wednesday that the ministry currently extracts 55 million cubic meters of natural gas annually and is planning to drill 145 wells by 2030. اضافة اعلان During a meeting with the joint parliamentary committee discussing updates on the government's Economic Modernization Vision, Al-Kharabsheh stated that the ministry aims to increase annual gas production to 418 million cubic meters by the year 2030. As part of the 2024 implementation of the modernization vision, the minister noted that the ministry is working on 50 priority initiatives, 16 of which have already been completed. For 2025, 37 priorities are scheduled, including 18 related to the energy sector—of which 11 have been implemented, while work is ongoing on the remaining 7. One of the key projects highlighted by the minister is the expansion of natural gas supply to several industrial cities, including ongoing work to deliver gas to Al-Muwaqqar Industrial Estate and other areas. This is aimed at providing a cheaper alternative energy source for the industrial sector. Regarding the floating gas storage and regasification unit (FSRU) in Aqaba, Al-Kharabsheh announced that its operations have ended and the vessel is scheduled to depart the port on June 4.
