Kuwait gov't ensures power and water networks readiness for 2025
KUWAIT CITY, April 1: Dr. Subaih Al-Mukhaizeem, the Minister of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy, reaffirmed the ministry's dedication to enhancing and qualifying its human resources to effectively tackle any challenges related to the electricity or water networks. The goal is to maintain the highest standards of quality and efficiency in operations, ensuring the sustainability of the services provided.
This statement followed an inspection visit by Al-Mukhaizeem to the Al-Subiya Power and Water Distillation Plant, where he also extended Eid Al-Fitr greetings to the on-duty employees. He was accompanied by Undersecretary Dr. Adel Al-Zamel and Acting Assistant Undersecretary for Power and Water Distillation Plants, Mohammad Khazal.
Al-Mukhaizeem took the opportunity to express his gratitude and appreciation to all ministry employees for their dedication, especially during official holidays. He acknowledged their hard work and commitment to providing efficient and professional services to the citizens and residents of Kuwait.
The minister's visit began with a tour of the Electrical Control Room (ECR), where he reviewed operational workflows and procedures, ensuring the plant's preparedness to meet the increasing demand for electricity and water during the summer of 2025.
Acting Director of Al-Subiya Station, Talal Al-Shammari, provided an in-depth explanation of the electrical control system at the station, which has an installed production capacity of 7,100 megawatts—about 35% of Kuwait's total energy production—and a water production capacity of 100 million imperial gallons per day.
The tour also included visits to the steam turbine hall, the Thermal Control Room (TCR), and the distillation units' control room. Al-Mukhaizeem also observed ongoing modernization work on one of the steam turbines at the station.
