2nd Kuwaiti aid plane arrives in Jordan to support Gaza

Kuwait continues urgent aid flights as Gaza's humanitarian crisis worsens KUWAIT/AMMAN: A second plane carrying humanitarian aid from Kuwait has arrived at Marka Military Airport in Jordan, bringing 10 tons of essential food supplies for the Gaza Strip. The aid flight departed from Abdullah Al-Mubarak Airbase in Kuwait and was organized by the Kuwaiti Red Crescent Society in coordination with Kuwait's Ministries of Social Affairs, Foreign Affairs, and Defense, with support from the Kuwaiti Air Force. This follows Kuwait's first relief flight to Gaza on Sunday, which delivered 10 tons of food supplies as part of a new airlift campaign aimed at easing the severe humanitarian crisis in the Palestinian territory. That flight headed to Al-Arish International Airport in Egypt, where aid will be transferred safely into Gaza. Khaled Al-Mughamis, chairman of the Kuwaiti Red Crescent, told KUNA before the second flight that the airlift reflected Kuwait's longstanding commitment to humanitarian support. He said: 'Launching this second aid flight from the second Kuwaiti humanitarian airlift for our Palestinian brothers reflects Kuwait's deeply rooted humanitarian approach — leadership, government, and people alike — in supporting afflicted peoples and easing their suffering.' The shipment was prepared with supplies from the Kuwait Flour Mills and Bakeries Company to ensure quality, he added. Officials are working closely with the Kuwaiti embassy in Jordan, the Jordanian Hashemite Charity Organization, and the Palestinian Red Crescent to prioritize aid distribution according to need. Arrangements are underway for further flights as part of Kuwait's second humanitarian airlift to Gaza, said Al-Mughamis, who thanked donors and official bodies for facilitating and expediting the aid. 'The 'Fazaa for Gaza' campaign embodies what the people of Kuwait — leaders and citizens — have been built upon: standing firmly with our brothers and sisters, inspired by Kuwait's historic role as a regional and global center for humanitarian work,' he said. Kuwait's campaign comes as Gaza faces catastrophic conditions. According to Gaza's Health Ministry, at least 61,599 Palestinians have been killed in the Zionist entity's genocidal war on the Gaza Strip since October 2023. This includes 227 who died from starvation — 103 of them children. The ministry also noted that 31 Palestinians were killed and over 388 injured while trying to get humanitarian aid in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of Palestinians killed while seeking aid to 1,838, with over 13,409 others wounded since May 27. Earlier this week, Kuwait's Ministry of Social Affairs announced that a nationwide donation campaign had raised KD 11.5 million. Funds are being used to purchase food and other essentials through the Kuwait Flour Mills Company, with the Kuwaiti Red Crescent Society overseeing procurement. — Agencies

Kuwait launches 2025-2030 youth strategic plan

KUWAIT: Minister of Information and Culture and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi on Tuesday unveiled the Public Authority for Youth's new strategic plan for 2025-2030, outlining five key priorities aimed at empowering young Kuwaitis. The strategy focuses on Leadership, Employment, and Entrepreneurship; Community Engagement; Culture, Innovation, and Creativity; Health and Wellbeing; and Governance and Resource Development. Speaking during a visual presentation at the Government Communication Center, Al-Mutairi described the plan as 'a clear and ambitious roadmap' aligned with the vision of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, and the directives of His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Al-Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah. Coinciding with International Youth Day, the strategy introduces 23 initiatives developed through extensive consultations with youth and experts, reflecting what Al-Mutairi called the 'active and pivotal role' of young people in building security, stability, and prosperity. Under the Leadership, Employment, and Entrepreneurship priority, the plan seeks to qualify 3,000 young leaders, offer career guidance to 5,000 youth, and run 30 entrepreneurship programs. It will also launch major projects, including the Kuwait Tech Hub for Entrepreneurship and the Kuwait Creative Industries Complex. For Community Engagement, the authority aims to register 15,000 volunteers on the national 'Ayadina' platform and support 100 youth-led initiatives. The Culture, Innovation, and Creativity priority will involve 4,000 youth in cultural events and provide three annual incubator programs for creative projects. The Health and Wellbeing pillar will promote healthy lifestyles, raise environmental awareness, and boost youth participation in peace and security issues. Meanwhile, the Governance and Resource Development track targets 100 percent digitization of services and increasing self-generated revenues to ensure program sustainability. Al-Mutairi noted that the strategy was shaped by reviewing the previous plan, analyzing 75 local and international reference documents, holding 19 specialized workshops, and consulting academics and experts. It adopts a 'three-lens methodology,' placing youth as leaders, partners, and beneficiaries. The minister underscored the importance of partnerships with the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Higher Education, National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters, and other institutions to expand opportunities and unify national efforts in youth service. He praised the support of government, private sector, and civil society partners, calling them 'the winning bet,' and urged young people to 'take initiative, engage, and innovate,' describing the strategy as 'from them, for them, and by them.' The plan envisions Kuwaiti youth as prosperous, aware, skilled, healthy, and engaged in their communities, capable of innovation and ambition, and committed to building a sustainable future. — KUNA

New e-visa system positions Kuwait as a top tourist destination

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 13: The Ministry of Interior (MoI) has unveiled a new electronic visa system aimed at streamlining the entry process for various types of visas. This initiative is expected to significantly enhance Kuwait's position as an attractive tourist destination. Colonel Abdulaziz Al-Kandari, Director of the Electronic Services Department at the General Administration of Residency Affairs, highlighted the importance of the new system during a presentation at the Government Communication Center titled "Kuwait Visa Platform... New Entry Visas." In his address, Colonel Al-Kandari provided a detailed explanation of the updated entry visa procedures, focusing on the new requirements and classifications available on the "Kuwait Visa" platform. He also reviewed the most prominent amendments introduced to the visa categories. Key visa categories Colonel Al-Kandari explained that the tourist visa is divided into four main categories, each with specific criteria: First Category: Unrestricted Tourist Visa: This category allows nationals from 52 countries to obtain a tourist visa without any restrictions. Visitors must ensure their passports are valid for more than six months from the date of entry. Second Category: Professionals and Gulf Residents: This category is for professionals who are residents of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, as well as residents of the United States, United Kingdom, and European Union (Schengen) countries. In addition to having a passport valid for over six months, applicants must provide proof of their Gulf residency, which must clearly state their profession and expiry date. Third Category: Financially Solvent Applicants (Under Development): This category applies to nationals from other countries who can prove their financial solvency. Applicants will need to provide a recent bank statement, a confirmed hotel reservation, and a valid passport. A credit card security deposit (Visa or MasterCard) will be required upon visa payment, which will be returned upon departure, barring any violations. Fourth Category: Special Events and Activities: This visa is granted for attendees of international and local events and activities, with specific requirements set according to each event. Types of tourist visas Tourist visas to Kuwait are categorized into two types: Single entry visa: Valid for one, two, or three months, with each entry allowing a 30-day stay. Multiple-entry visa: Valid for three, six, or twelve months, with each entry permitting a stay of up to 30 days. Family visit visas Family visit visas are subject to new amendments. Applicants must now provide proof of kinship through documents such as a marriage certificate or birth certificate. The relationship must be within the fourth degree of kinship or the third degree of marriage. Similar to tourist visas, family visit visas are available in both single and multiple entry categories, with a maximum stay of 30 days per entry. Commercial and government visas Commercial visas: These are granted to individuals invited by a civil authority, institution, or company for business purposes. These visas are also available as single or multiple entry, with stays not exceeding 30 days per entry. Government visas: Issued to individuals invited by a government authority for specific purposes. There are no additional special requirements for these visas, as government agencies assess the need for each visit. Like the other categories, government visit visas are available in single and multiple entry formats. Colonel Al-Kandari concluded by emphasizing Kuwait's commitment to making the visa process more efficient, transparent, and accessible for visitors from around the world. He also underscored the importance of these reforms in positioning Kuwait as a premier destination for tourism, business, and government-related visits.
