Celtic confirm 'Como Cup' plans as pre-season takes shape

Official: Barcelona confirm €6 million sale of La Masia defender
FC Barcelona have confirmed their first sale of the summer transfer window with La Masia defender Alex Valle securing a permanent transfer to Como 1907. The Serie A outfit, managed by former Barcelona midfielder, have triggered Valle's €6 million release clause to make his signing permanent. Advertisement 'Como 1907 has activated the termination clause of player Álex Valle , who is thus no longer linked to FC Barcelona. The cost of the clause was 6 million euros,' the club statement read. 'The Club wishes him good luck and success in the future, both personally and professionally.' Valle spent the first half of the last season on loan at Celtic before moving to Como in the January transfer window. The young Spaniard made a big impression during the second half of the campaign in Italy, convincing Fabregas & co. to pull the trigger on his €6 million release clause. With the first summer departure confirmed, Barcelona will hope to finalise the exits of other out-of-favour players like Ansu Fati and Inaki Pena soon to further boost their finances.

It has yet to be confirmed what the official plans and matches are for the trip. On the subject of Como, the Serie A outfit today confirmed the signing of former Celtic left-back Alex Valle. He said [ "It's been a great six months. I've settled in really well and I'm very happy here. Obviously, the prospect of continuing here in Como fills me with joy and pride. I can't wait to start next season and give my all for this club." Valle will now permanently work under Barcelona legend Cesc Fabregas in Italy. The boss revealed his delight at the permanent acquisition of the 20-year-old: "Alex is a talented young defender, and he has proven it in the last six months," he said. "He has integrated perfectly and in a very short time into the team's mechanisms, showing all his qualities both defensively and offensively. With him Como has secured one of the most interesting talents of his age who will be very important for the team in the future."

Barcelona to make transfer decisions on three players this week
Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has already mentioned that he will be having a long conversation with Director of Football Deco about changes to his squad this summer, and that those conversations will begin this week ahead of their final game this week with Athletic Club. It will begin with the loan players that Barcelona have returning this season. The Blaugrana currently have three players out on loan from the senior side: Clement Lenglet at Atletico Madrid, Oriol Romeu at Girona and Alex Valle at Como. Diario AS say that Hansi Flick will discuss their future this week with Deco, but that the only one that has much chance of playing under Flick next season is Valle. The 21-year-old spent the year on loan at Celtic for the first half of the year, before moving to Cesc Fabregas' Como, where he became a starter in Serie A. Clement Lenglet's uncertain Atletico Madrid future Ansu Fati and Inaki Pena are both expected to leave this summer, and Lenglet will likely follow them out the door. The French centre-back reportedly extended his deal with Barcelona until 2028 in order to reduce the impact of his salary on their books, before leaving on loan to Atletico Madrid. Advertisement Already in January it was being reported that Los Rojiblancos would try to keep him, but that interest has cooled somewhat, and now it seems less certain. Atletico are expected to negotiate the price down to close to zero if they are to retain him. Two teams willing to meet Barcelona asking price for loan talent
Barcelona will again be hoping that the transfer market can provide them with funds as much as an opportunity to strengthen their squad, and one of avenues available to them is cashing in on La Masia talents. One player primed for an exit appears to be Alex Valle. After Hansi Flick could not guarantee Valle minutes in the first team this season, the 21-year-old decided to head out on loan to Celtic. In January, despite having meaningful minutes, he decided to join Cesc Fabregas at Como, where he has earned a starting spot in Serie A. The Italian side also had a buy option inserted into his contract of €8m. Advertisement Already it has been reported that Como are willing to activate that clause in the summer, but it appears Valle will have a wider variety of options if he wants them too. Borussia Dortmund have taken an interest in the young left-back, while Marca reassert that Como have already expressed a desire to take up their buy option, although they say it is worth just €6m. Los Verdiblancos have Ricardo Rodriguez and Romain Perraud in situ, both signed last summer, but they believe it is one of the positions that could be improved, and they say that Valle is willing to examine his options at the end of the season. The good relations between Barcelona and Betis would also help any deal between the two. Under Xavi Hernandez, Valle was tipped for a role in the Barcelona team after starting preseason with the side two years ago, but Flick's decision to use Gerard Martin, and the new contract handed to him, would suggest that he will be Alejandro Balde's back-up again next year. Equally, under-19 left-back Jofre Torrents is also reportedly on the fast-track to the first team.
