Hulu's Best New Show Has A Near-Perfect Rotten Tomatoes Score
If you're looking for a new show to watch early in the week here, there's a new one that's landed on Hulu, throwing back to a storied franchise in a way that is far from a cheap cash-in. That would be Alien: Earth on Hulu, yet another Alien project and not that long after Alien: Romulus, but it's the first TV series in its history. It is also extremely good, and I've even heard it being called 'The Andor of Alien.' Certified fresh with a full 62 reviews in, Alien: Earth has a 94% on Rotten Tomatoes. That's not only good for the current TV moment, but that means it is tied as the best-reviewed Alien project ever. That's a tie with Alien at 94%, and just above Aliens at 93%. We're talking projects that were released almost 40 years ago. Here's the list: I wrote an article similar to this about a week ago, but back then, Alien: Earth was at a 90% and in third place instead. Now, with more reviews in, the score has only gone up, which is not really what you see normally with a show like this. What's this all about anyway? Here's the synopsis, as the show takes place two years before the original 1979 film: Interestingly, the only real 'name' in the cast here is Justified's Timothy Olyphant, with the rest of the cast being lower-profile. But the name behind it all is Noah Hawley, who has done some of the wildest FX/Hulu shows to date from Legion to Fargo. Now, he's set his sights on Alien which is now reviewing better than any of them. This isn't a binge release, as that's not usually how Hulu rolls (except The Bear). It has a double episode premiere today, and the rest of the eight episodes will air through the end of September. A second season has not been greenlit yet, but if it performs well, I would expect that to happen. So far as we know, this is not planned as a limited series. This is going to be a good one. I'll have my own review in shortly. Follow me on Twitter, YouTube, and Instagram. Pick up my sci-fi novels the Herokiller series and The Earthborn Trilogy.

Predator: Badlands has a new trailer – and it's got an Alien connection that has me hyped
When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. Predator: Badlands now has a full length trailer It reveals that Elle Fanning's protagonist character is a Weyland-Yutani synth This is exciting news for those wanting more Alien vs Predator in their life Predator: Badlands just dropped a new trailer that has delighted fans, including myself, as it incorporates elements of both the Alien and Predator franchises. Since the original Alien vs Predator movie was released in 2004, we've seen a lot of spinoffs that solely focus on one of the two creatures but now it seems the two universes are properly merging once again. Xenomorphs are set to reappear in Hulu's upcoming Alien: Earth. Meanwhile, Predator was last seen in Predator: Killer of Killers (check our ranking of every chapter in the animated anthology movie) and before that Prey, which senior entertainment reporter Tom Power called "the best Predator movie since the 1987 original" in his Prey review. Prey's director Dan Trachtenberg is also directing Predator: Badlands, so many are expecting it to be another very strong entry into the series. Take a look at the trailer for one of this year's new movies below. What is Predator: Badlands about? The official plot reads: "In the future on a remote planet, a young Predator, outcast from his clan, finds an unlikely ally in Thia and embarks on a treacherous journey in search of the ultimate adversary." So, this confirms that a Predator and a Weyland-Yutani synth are indeed teaming up in Predator: Badlands, and it's very exciting to see these two worlds colliding again. Predator: Badlands does have some serious sci-fi vibes in its first trailer, which I'm a huge fan of, and I'm sure there'll be plenty of action and thrills to enjoy whether or not you're team Alien or Predator. Confirmed cast so far include Elle Fanning as Thia and Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi as Dek (the Predator), and they are definitely shaping up to be one very cool duo. Final trailer for Alien: Earth drops another xenomorph tease, but I'm far more interested in the horror show's other unsettling creatures
When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. The final trailer for FX's Alien: Earth has been released It'll premiere on Hulu and Disney+ in mid-August The sci-fi horror franchise's iconic Xenomorph won't be the show's most interesting monster There's less than a month to go (at the time of publication) until Alien: Earth crash-lands on our screens. So, what better way is there to celebrate than the release of one final, terror-fuelled trailer? With the sci-fi horror show set to launch on Hulu (US) and Disney+ (internationally) in mid-August, FX Networks has decided to release one more teaser to further whet our appetite for its release. And, if you thought the Alien franchise's iconic xenomorph would be the most frightening monster that'll show up, you'd better think again. Sure, the fan-favorite biological weapon will appear in the Alien franchise's first-ever TV show. That much has been made clear ever since Alien: Earth's underwhelming first teaser dropped in September 2024. It's the show's other skin-crawling creatures, though, that have piqued my interest since FX birthed another teaser for Alien: Earth in late April. Indeed, we caught glimpses of the other extraterrestrial beings that'll show up in the series in Alien: Earth's first proper trailer in June. Now, we have confirmation of not only how many we'll actually see, but the threat they'll pose to the human and android characters who populate the show. "This ship collected specimens – five new lifeforms – from distant planets," Babou Ceesay's Morrow can he heard saying in the latest round of footage. "[They're] monsters." You can say that again. From the carnivorous venus flytrap-like creature – D. Plumricarl – seen dangling from a ceiling (see the image above) to the eye-based lifeform – T. Ocellus – that's bonded to an unsuspecting sheep (see the image below), Sydney Chandler's Wendy, Morrow, and company won't want to mess around with these life-threatening species from other worlds. For those of you who missed it first time around, here's the story brief for Alien: Earth, courtesy of FX: "In the year 2120, the Earth is governed by five corporations: Prodigy, Weyland-Yutani, Lynch, Dynamic, and Threshold. "In this Corporate Era, cyborgs – humans with both biological and artificial parts – and synthetics – humanoid robots with artificial intelligence – exist alongside humans. But, the game is changed when the wunderkind Founder and CEO of Prodigy Corporation unlocks a new technological advancement: hybrids, humanoid robots infused with human consciousness." "The first hybrid prototype named 'Wendy' (Chandler) marks a new dawn in the race for immortality. After Weyland-Yutani's spaceship collides into Prodigy City, 'Wendy' and the other hybrids encounter mysterious life forms more terrifying than anyone could have ever imagined." Joining Chandler and Ceesay on the show's cast roster are Timothy Olyphant, Alex Lawther, Samuel Blenkin, Essie Davis, Kit Young, David Rysdahl, Lily Newmark, and Sandra Yi Sencindiver, among others. You can read more about the show's extensive cast, plot details, and its future in our ultimate guide to Alien: Earth. As we revealed in mid-May, Alien: Earth will be released on August 12. Well, in the US, plus other North American countries, and South America. In Europe, Africa, Asia, and Australia, it'll arrive on August 13. ‘Alien: Earth' Is The Best-Reviewed ‘Alien' Entry In 40 Years
Well, I wrote this article last year, but as it turns out, we have a new contender for the best Alien franchise installment since 1986. That would be Noah Hawley's Alien: Earth show. Incidentally, the only actual TV show made in the Alien series, alongside nine total movies. As it stands, Alien: Earth is the third best-reviewed Alien piece of media, behind only 1986's Aliens and 1979's Alien. Here's how the new list breaks down with Alien: Earth's Certified Fresh 90% critic score: Of note, before Alien: Earth, the last Alien movie, Alien: Romulus, reviewed quite well in 2024, the Cailee Spaeny /Isabella Merced feature that mainly featured a truly standout performance from David Jonsson as a synth. This is the first TV show attempt for the franchise, and it will air on Hulu on August 12. Noah Hawley, you may recall, is the mind behind other FX/Hulu projects Legion and Fargo, both rather iconic in their own ways. Now, given a storied franchise, it appears he's done great work here. A sampling of reviews: I don't know how much more praise you can get, and this is definitely more than we saw for Alien: Romulus, despite its reviews. There has been a recent surge in interested in the combined Alien and Predator franchises. Predator just got an amazing animated Hulu film, Killer of Killers, and is about to get a new movie, Predator: Badlands, which will star Elle Fanning as a Weyland-Yutani android and is out this November. Yes, Alien's Weyland-Yutani. Is this all leading up to more Alien vs. Predator? If so, hopefully it can improve its quality by about 500%. Here's the synopsis of Alien: Earth if you're curious where things are going this time: It feels like these series are now both being taken more seriously than they've been in the past with thoughtful projects that don't come off as cash-ins. I believe that Alien: Earth will do well on Hulu, and I don't want to wait a week to watch it. Follow me on Twitter, YouTube, and Instagram. New Predator: Badlands Trailer Sparks Theories for How a Xenomorph May Make a Surprise Appearance to Turn It Into a Secret AVP Movie
Have you seen the new Predator: Badlands trailer? If you have — and you're a fan of the Alien franchise — you might have noticed more than a few nods to the famous sci-fi horror franchise. But fans are now speculating that the trailer may suggest Predator: Badlands is more than a Predator movie with Alien references, and may actually be an AVP movie in disguise. The trailer, below, shows Elle Fanning's Thia strike up an alliance with Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi's young Predator outcast, Dek. Thia, as previous trailers had already revealed, is a Weyland-Yutani synth from the nefarious company's bio-weapons division. Weyland-Yutani is of course the famous mega corp from the Alien universe, and it seems it has some design — or at least presence — on this alien death world. Here's the interesting bit: in the trailer, Thia tells Dek that he's the prey here, and warns him that he's seeking out "a creature that can't be killed" and "the definitive apex predator." The way the trailer is cut suggests this is a reference to an enormous monster who looks like nothing we've seen in either the Predator or the Alien movies so far. But is this the monster Thia is actually talking about? Some fans believe 'the definitive apex Predator' in question is not the giant monster the trailer shows us, but in fact a Xenomorph, potentially even a Queen. 'That has to be why Weyland is involved in a Predator movie at all,' redditor MakaylaAzula said. 'The posters and trailers are showing this giant monster to fool us into thinking that's the big bad.' With this in mind, the final shot of the trailer, which shows a mech that may well be a Weyland-Yutani Power Loader make a dramatic entrance to fight the giant monster, could be something of a bait and switch. Thia teases this mech's introduction by saying: "We might not be alone in this hunt." Who is she talking about? Is it a Xenomorph? Who is piloting the mech? Some fans now believe that a Xenomorph will turn up right at the end of Predator: Badlands for a final fight involving the Predator (and possible other Predators who fly in to help out), Thia, and that mech, thus setting up a future AVP movie that will join the two franchises at the hip once also the upcoming FX TV show Alien: Earth to think about here. Some fans think the iconic Predator clicking noise can be heard in one of the Alien: Earth trailers. Could a Predator turn up at the end of the series to save the day? Let's end on comments from Alien: Romulus director Fede Alvarez, who revealed to Collider in February how he'd introduce an AVP movie to audiences if he were given the chance. 'The way I would do it, most likely, if it could be done this way… It's harder to keep secrets online… The best AVP will be the one that you don't know is AVP until the other guy shows up,' he said. 'You think you're watching a Predator movie, and then they land in some place and there are creatures, and fucking hell, it's a Xenomorph. That would get me. 'F*** yeah!' You'd go crazy. 'Or vice versa, you're in an Alien movie, and then suddenly a mysterious creature is there, and you can hear that sound, and you see the cloak, and you go, 'Is that a f***ing Predator?' And then turns out it is. That would be the way to do it, don't you think? Once you put it in the title, it's like, 'Spoiler alert.'' Interesting… Predator: Badlands hits theaters in November.
