The final trailer for FX's Alien: Earth has been released
It'll premiere on Hulu and Disney+ in mid-August
The sci-fi horror franchise's iconic Xenomorph won't be the show's most interesting monster
There's less than a month to go (at the time of publication) until Alien: Earth crash-lands on our screens. So, what better way is there to celebrate than the release of one final, terror-fuelled trailer?
With the sci-fi horror show set to launch on Hulu (US) and Disney+ (internationally) in mid-August, FX Networks has decided to release one more teaser to further whet our appetite for its release. And, if you thought the Alien franchise's iconic xenomorph would be the most frightening monster that'll show up, you'd better think again.
Sure, the fan-favorite biological weapon will appear in the Alien franchise's first-ever TV show. That much has been made clear ever since Alien: Earth's underwhelming first teaser dropped in September 2024.
It's the show's other skin-crawling creatures, though, that have piqued my interest since FX birthed another teaser for Alien: Earth in late April. Indeed, we caught glimpses of the other extraterrestrial beings that'll show up in the series in Alien: Earth's first proper trailer in June. Now, we have confirmation of not only how many we'll actually see, but the threat they'll pose to the human and android characters who populate the show.
"This ship collected specimens – five new lifeforms – from distant planets," Babou Ceesay's Morrow can he heard saying in the latest round of footage. "[They're] monsters."
You can say that again. From the carnivorous venus flytrap-like creature – D. Plumricarl – seen dangling from a ceiling (see the image above) to the eye-based lifeform – T. Ocellus – that's bonded to an unsuspecting sheep (see the image below), Sydney Chandler's Wendy, Morrow, and company won't want to mess around with these life-threatening species from other worlds.
For those of you who missed it first time around, here's the story brief for Alien: Earth, courtesy of FX: "In the year 2120, the Earth is governed by five corporations: Prodigy, Weyland-Yutani, Lynch, Dynamic, and Threshold.
"In this Corporate Era, cyborgs – humans with both biological and artificial parts – and synthetics – humanoid robots with artificial intelligence – exist alongside humans. But, the game is changed when the wunderkind Founder and CEO of Prodigy Corporation unlocks a new technological advancement: hybrids, humanoid robots infused with human consciousness."
"The first hybrid prototype named 'Wendy' (Chandler) marks a new dawn in the race for immortality. After Weyland-Yutani's spaceship collides into Prodigy City, 'Wendy' and the other hybrids encounter mysterious life forms more terrifying than anyone could have ever imagined."
Joining Chandler and Ceesay on the show's cast roster are Timothy Olyphant, Alex Lawther, Samuel Blenkin, Essie Davis, Kit Young, David Rysdahl, Lily Newmark, and Sandra Yi Sencindiver, among others. You can read more about the show's extensive cast, plot details, and its future in our ultimate guide to Alien: Earth.
As we revealed in mid-May, Alien: Earth will be released on August 12. Well, in the US, plus other North American countries, and South America. In Europe, Africa, Asia, and Australia, it'll arrive on August 13.

Uncharted 4 and The Last of Us 2 dev's new Japan-based studio aims to make a multiplayer game with Naughty Dog-level cinematic action and a Breaking Bad-style story, and it's already playable

When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. The new studio founded by former Naughty Dog developers Vinit Agarwal and Joe Pettinati is aiming to blend Naughty Dog-level cinematic action and a Breaking Bad-influenced story into a multiplayer game. After leading development on the now-scrapped Last of Us Online, Agarwal left Naughty Dog earlier this year to pursue independent game development in Japan. Although Pettinati is still US-based, the duo are working together on their still unnamed studio's debut title. All we've known about the game at this point is that it's multiplayer, and we still don't know much more today, but in an interview with Game Spark (via Automaton), Agarwal spared us a few bread crumbs on the basic ethos behind the game. Agarwal, via machine translation, said "Naughty Dog has had a strong influence on us in terms of their approach worldview and story," and with this new game, "it's important not just to create interesting gameplay, but to ensure that the story, action, worldview, and gameplay are all on the same level." Specifically, Agarwal said "we aim to bring the cinematic action familiar from our previous works to the multiplayer between players." He also labeled the game a "triple-indie," with the story and gameplay being influenced by the developers' time at a AAA studio but with the "fast-paced feel" of an indie game. Notably, Agarwal said he moved to Japan because he's always had a deep respect for Japanese developers and what he called a "strong 'vision'," adding that he recently spoke to FromSoftware's Hidetaka Miyazaki and "was reminded once again that I like the style of a director with a strong vision." Another influence on Agarwal is Breaking Bad, which he said he likes because "the story is deep and the characters' motivations are interesting." "In other words, what I want to create is a game with deep characters and a story like 'Breaking Bad,' with a touch of the dark themes mixed with lighter aspects that are common in Japanese works," he said. Agarwal wasn't ready to share anything more about the game itself, but he did reveal that it's been in development for a few months and is "already playable," with playtesting happening "in the near future." With so little to go on, it's hard to say what form will eventually materialize from Agarwal and Pettinati's new studio, but they definitely have the experience to back up their lofty ambitions. Agarwal spent a decade at Naughty Dog and went from junior designer to game director on The Last of Us Online, while Pettinati also spent 10 years at the studio, going from editor to creative director. In the meantime, here are the best PS5 games you can play right now.

Intense New Trailer for Hulu's THE TWISTED TALE OF AMANDA KNOX — GeekTyrant

Hulu has released an intense new trailer for its upcoming limited true crime series The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox , and I have no doubt this story is going to strike a nerve. The series brings to life the harrowing real-life journey of Amanda Knox, the American college student who found herself at the center of an international media frenzy after being wrongfully convicted for the 2007 murder of her roommate Meredith Kercher. For fans of gripping true crime stories, this looks like essential viewing. Starring Grace Van Patten, Sharon Horgan, John Hoogenakker, Francesco Acquaroli, Giuseppe De Domenico, and Roberta Mattei, the show explores the chaos that unfolded after Knox arrived in Italy for a study abroad program. Hulu's synopsis reads: ' The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox follows the eponymous American college student, who arrives in Italy for her study abroad only to be wrongfully imprisoned for murder weeks later. 'The series traces Amanda's relentless fight to prove her innocence and reclaim her freedom and examines why authorities and the world stood so firmly in judgment.' Created by KJ Steinberg ( This Is Us ), The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox is backed by a powerhouse team of executive producers including Warren Littlefield, Lisa Harrison, Ann Johnson, Graham Littlefield, Monica Lewinsky, and Amanda Knox herself. Michael Uppendahl directs the series, which is produced by 20th Television and The Littlefield Company. You can start streaming The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox exclusively on Hulu beginning August 20.
