USC leading scorer Desmond Claude set for official visit with Florida basketball
USC leading scorer Desmond Claude set for official visit with Florida basketball Florida basketball is making a major move in the transfer portal. USC Trojans transfer guard Desmond Claude, the Trojans' leading scorer from the 2024-25 season, is set to take an official visit to Gainesville this week, according to Swamp247. Claude averaged 15.8 points, 3.5 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game during the 2024-25 campaign, establishing himself as one of the top available players in the portal. Florida is working to finalize the details of his visit, with current plans to have Claude arrive Wednesday and begin his official visit on Thursday. Landing Claude would be a significant addition for head coach Todd Golden's Gators as they look to reload the roster for another title run. Claude's combination of scoring ability, playmaking skills and Big Ten experience make him one of the most coveted guards still available. Taking a look at Claude A 6-foot-6-inch junior guard from New Haven, Connecticut, Claude brings an impressive skill set to the transfer market. After starting his college career at Xavier, Claude transferred to USC, where he earned All-Big Ten Honorable Mention honors and was named to the NABC All-Pacific District Second Team. He led the Trojans in scoring in 2024-25 with 523 total points. Claude also posted two 30-point games, including 31 points in an upset win over No. 13 Illinois. Over his career, Claude has amassed 1,255 points and 313 assists, developing into one of the most consistent and dynamic guards in the country. What's next Claude's official visit will be critical in Florida's pursuit, with other programs also pushing hard for the guard. If the Gators can close strong, Claude could become one of the headline additions of the Gators' 2024-25 offseason. Dolphins draft Maryland S Dante Trader Jr. in Round 5
The Miami Dolphins added another safety to their impending competition for starting spots. With the No. 155 selection in Round 5 of the 2025 NFL draft, the Dolphins picked Maryland safety Dante Trader Jr. Trader is the second Terrapins defender to land in Miami, joining his teammate Jordan Phillips, who was taken a dozen selections before the safety. Advertisement The 5'11, 196-pound defensive back doesn't have size or athleticism that jumps off the page, but he was a productive and reliable player in the collegiate ranks. Trader had five interceptions as a three-year starter at Maryland, and earned an All-Big Ten Honorable Mention in 2024. After allowing starting safeties Jevón Holland and Jordan Poyer to both reach free agency, the Dolphins signed a pair of relatively low-cost free agents, Ifeatu Melifonwu and Ashtyn Davis. That duo will compete with Trader, 2024 sixth-round pick Patrick McMorris, and special teams ace Elijah Campbell for the starting jobs in Miami. Wisconsin football lands commitment from Purdue transfer specialist
Wisconsin football lands commitment from Purdue transfer specialist Wisconsin football landed a commitment from Purdue transfer long snapper Nick Levy on Sunday. Levy joins the Badgers after one year with the Boilermakers. The rising senior previously began his career at William & Mary (Football Championship Subdivision), where he started all 24 of the team's games at long snapper over two seasons. His time with the Tribe was highlighted by a Freshman All-America honor in 2022. The Ashburn, Virginia, native then transferred to Purdue for the 2024 campaign. He started all 12 games at long snapper, finishing the campaign with an All-Big Ten Honorable Mention distinction. The Purdue transfer specialist is Wisconsin's second long-snapper commitment of the offseason, following Arkansas transfer Eli Stein. His addition indicates a lack of stability at the position, one that was handled masterfully by senior Cayson Pfeiffer in 2024. The remainder of the spring will likely see a competition between the two transfer long-snappers, Stein and Levy, for the starting job. It is a key position on a special-teams unit that is somewhat in flux entering the season, with other unknowns at both punt and kick returner. Wisconsin's overall transfer class, including winter and spring commitments, currently ranks No. 14 nationally, with seven blue-chip players of 18 overall commitments. That ranking can be tough to rely on, however, as winter additions tight end Tanner Koziol and wide receiver Mark Hamper have already transferred out. University of Michigan senior Jordan Hobbs was selected on Monday as the 34th pick by the Seattle Storm in the 2025 WNBA draft.
