Dolphins draft Maryland S Dante Trader Jr. in Round 5
The Miami Dolphins added another safety to their impending competition for starting spots. With the No. 155 selection in Round 5 of the 2025 NFL draft, the Dolphins picked Maryland safety Dante Trader Jr.
Trader is the second Terrapins defender to land in Miami, joining his teammate Jordan Phillips, who was taken a dozen selections before the safety.
The 5'11, 196-pound defensive back doesn't have size or athleticism that jumps off the page, but he was a productive and reliable player in the collegiate ranks. Trader had five interceptions as a three-year starter at Maryland, and earned an All-Big Ten Honorable Mention in 2024.
After allowing starting safeties Jevón Holland and Jordan Poyer to both reach free agency, the Dolphins signed a pair of relatively low-cost free agents, Ifeatu Melifonwu and Ashtyn Davis. That duo will compete with Trader, 2024 sixth-round pick Patrick McMorris, and special teams ace Elijah Campbell for the starting jobs in Miami.

Lakers jersey history No. 3 — Manny Harris

Through the 2024-25 season, the Los Angeles Lakers have had a total of 506 players suit up for them, going back to their days in Minneapolis. Some were forgettable, some were serviceable, some were good and a select few were flat-out legendary. As the Lakers approach their 80th season of existence (they were founded back in 1946 as the Detroit Gems in the National Basketball League), LeBron Wire is taking a look at each player who has worn their jersey, whether it has been a purple and gold one or the ones they donned back in the Midwest during their early years. Here's a look at Manny Harris, a guard who briefly played for the Lakers. Harris had a solid three seasons at the University of Michigan, where he averaged 17.0 points, 5.7 rebounds and 3.7 assists a game and earned first-team All-Big Ten honors in 2009 as a sophomore. However, he went unselected in the 2010 NBA Draft. After spending his first two pro seasons with the Cleveland Cavaliers, Harris played with BC Azovmash in Ukraine during the 2012-13 season. He signed with the Orlando Magic just prior to the 2013-14 campaign, and he then moved on to the Lakers' G League (then known as the NBA Development League) squad in December. In January 2014, he signed his first of two 10-day contracts with the big-league Lakers. He appeared in nine games for them and averaged 8.1 points and 3.8 rebounds in 20 minutes a game. Harris went on to make the D-League All-Star Game that season. Afterward, he played four games for the Dallas Mavericks during the 2016-17 season, and other than that, he has had stints with numerous foreign pro basketball teams. For the past couple of years, he has been with Al Riyadi Beirut of the Lebanese Basketball League.

Buccaneers' Todd Bowles Wishes More Carries for 'Game Breaker' Running Back

Buccaneers' Todd Bowles Wishes More Carries for 'Game Breaker' Running Back originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers got another good look at running back Sean Tucker in Saturday's preseason win over No. 1 pick Cam Ward and the Tennessee Titans. Rachaad White went down with a groin injury after the first quarter and Tucker subbed in for the rest of the game while splitting time with Owen Wright. Tucker got 13 carries for 50 yards and a touchdown, while Owens registered 18 carries for 87 yards and a score. Tucker has been very impactful when given the opportunity, and head coach Todd Bowles would like to see him hvae more of those opportunities in the upcoming season. 'Sean brings us another explosive runner,' Bowles said. 'He's a game breaker for us, really. He's got very good contact balance, he can break a lot of tackles, he can naturally find holes. He's very fast but he looks so smooth doing it that you really can't tell until he gets into the open field.' Bowles was adamant about including Tucker more even before White's injury. 'I keep telling the guys on offense, we've got to give him the ball more,' Bowles said. In Week 6 of last season, Tucker tallied 136 yards on 14 carries with a score against the New Orleans Saints. He ended the season with 308 yards on 50 carries while averaging 6.2 yards per carry. We should see much more of Tucker in 2025, particularly if White's groin injury lingers at all. Jon Gruden Predicts Super Bowl Winner Before NFL Season Without Hesitation

Jon Gruden Predicts Super Bowl Winner Before NFL Season Without Hesitation originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The NFL season is still a few weeks away, but with training camp in full swing and the preseason already through one week, anticipation for football's return is palpable. And there may not be anyone more fired up than former Super Bowl–winning head coach Jon Gruden. Since departing from coaching in 2021, Gruden has found a home at Barstool Sports, staying well-connected and highly involved in football at both the professional and collegiate levels. In a recent interview with Peighton Tubre, Gruden participated in a rapid-fire Q&A. When asked for his 'sleeper' team for the 2025 NFL season, he didn't just give a name—he flat-out predicted that team would win the Super Bowl. Jon Gruden Predicts Super Bowl LX Winner That team? The Tampa Bay Buccaneers—the same franchise he led to its first Lombardi Trophy in 2003. 'Sleeper team for this year,' Gruden was asked. Without hesitation, he replied, 'Tampa Bay Buccaneers are gonna win the Super Bowl.' Commanding the Buccaneers' offense for a third straight season is former No. 1 overall pick Baker Mayfield. While Tampa Bay has remained competitive in the NFC and dominated the NFC South in recent years, they have often fallen short when it comes to delivering in the playoffs. However, with Mayfield coming off a career year, Mike Evans entering his 12th season, and the continued progression of running back Bucky Irving in his second year—along with rookie wide receiver Emeka Egbuka out of Ohio State, who has taken training camp by storm—the Bucs have a real chance to be a force once again in a winnable division after finishing 10-7 last story was originally reported by Athlon Sports on Aug 12, 2025, where it first appeared.
