2025 Ball State Football Predictions: Cardinals Ranked 134th in RJ Young's Ultimate 136

College Football 2025 Ball State Football Predictions: Cardinals Ranked 134th in RJ Young's Ultimate 136 Published Aug. 10, 2025 8:57 p.m. ET share facebook x reddit link This isn't your average college football ranking. My Ultimate 136 is a set of rankings that is fluid, but it's my job to look ahead and make a claim for all FBS teams based on what I know and why I know it. Here are the three pressing questions I started by asking when putting together this list: Who do I think is good? Why do I think they're good? What are the chances they will finish above or below my expectations? Here is a look at where Ball State lands in my Ultimate 136. Ball State ranking: 134 Last year's ranking: 127 Top player: RB Qua Ashley: All-CUSA kick returner last season and honorable mention at running back; had 1,193 all-purpose yards last season. [Ball State's 2025 schedule] RJ's take: First-year head coach Mike Uremovich has one of the toughest gigs in FBS, but let's not talk about the Ball State job as if it's coaching Mumford High School. Uremovich has got real playmakers in quarterback Kiael Kelly, a brilliant athlete, Ashley, who could catch 30 balls out of the backfield and tackles Adam Dolan and Chris Hood, who stand at 6-foot-8 and 6-foot-10, respectively. ADVERTISEMENT Ball State still might not be very good, but it won't be because the potential to win six games isn't on the roster. [ Check out RJ Young's Ultimate 136 College Football Rankings here ] Ball State Win Total Odds: Over 3.5 (-112) Under 3.5 (-108) Have an issue with my rankings? 49ers sign veteran running back after one went down with an injury

The San Francisco 49ers entered their Saturday night battle with the Denver Broncos down a few running backs, with Christian McCaffrey sitting out as a precaution and both Isaac Guerendo and Jordan James dealing with injuries. Then, during the game, the 49ers lost running back Ameer Abdullah due to a rib injury on a carry up the middle that also resulted in a lost fumble. While it's unclear how long any of the three will be inactive, the 49ers decided it was best to bring in another running back on Sunday, signing old friend Jeff Wilson Jr., according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Wilson, 29, played collegiately at North Texas from 2014-17, earning All-CUSA honors in his final season with the Mean Green before the San Francisco 49ers signed him as an undrafted free agent following the 2018 NFL draft. He spent 2018-22 in San Francisco, rushing for 1,733 yards and 15 touchdowns on 4.4 yards per attempt and catching 45 passes for an additional 387 yards and four touchdowns in 45 games. Midway through the 2022 season, the 49ers traded Wilson to the Miami Dolphins, reuniting him with head coach Mike McDaniel. From 2022-24, Wilson rushed for 637 yards and three touchdowns on 4.5 yards per attempt and caught 29 passes for 198 yards and one score. Wilson's familiarity with the system should make him an easy plug-and-play option right away in San Francisco, and he honestly could even fight to make the roster despite having just a few weeks to prove his case. Broncos roster: OL Clay Webb (No. 64) among UDFA favorites

Broncos Wire's 90-man offseason roster series continues today with a look at rookie offensive lineman Clay Webb, No. 64. Before the Broncos: Webb (6-3, 290 pounds) began his college career at Georgia, where he played from 2019-21, although he did not play in any games in the 2021 national championship season. Webb then transferred to Jackson State, where he played 36 games for the Gamecocks. In 2023, Webb was named a first-team All-American and second-team All-CUSA player and was named FBS Offensive Guard of the Year. In 2024, Webb allowed just one sack in 915 snaps, leading to him being named first-team All-Conference USA and a second-team All-American by the Football Writers Association of America. His stellar senior season led Webb to be invited to the Reese's Senior Bowl and the NFL Combine. Webb ran a 5.11 40-yard dash and posted a 31-inch vertical abead of the draft. Broncos tenure: Webb was projected to be a fifth- or sixth-round pick, but he went unselected, perhaps in part because of bullying allegations from high school. A lawsuit against Webb was dismissed in April, and he signed with Denver as a college free agent. He was ranked as the No. 2 undrafted interior offensive lineman by After landing with the Broncos, Webb will make his NFL debut during preseason next month. Chances to make the 53-man roster: Toss-up. It remains to be seen if Webb will play primarily as a guard or center, but he'd face plenty of competition at either spot. He ranks among the UDFA favorites to make the active roster, but Webb might be a practice squad candidate in his rookie season. Related: These 25 celebrities are Broncos fans.
