Texas A&M softball stunned by Liberty in Regional

COLLEGE STATION, Texas (FOX 44) — No. 1 Texas A&M became the first number one overall seed in NCAA history to not advance to past the Regional round, falling to the Flames, 6-5 in the NCAA Regional Championship on Sunday night. Sydney Lessentine continued her heroics in the circle after saving the season for the Aggies in game one, turning in a stellar outing in the winner-take-all game. Lessentine finished her day with 4.2 IP, 4 H, ER, 6 K's. A&M jumped out to an early 3-0 lead through three innings, with KK Dement leading it off with a two-run shot in the bottom of the second. Liberty didn't find the scoring column until the bottom of the fifth but made their run in the sixth, scoring five runs to take a commanding 6-3 lead. The Aggies battled back in the bottom half, as an Allie Enright solo home run and a RBI-single from Koko Wooley pulled A&M within one run heading into the seventh. The Aggies got two runners on base down to their final out with Kramer Eschete at the plate. After falling behind in the count, Eschete worked a full count before swinging through strike three. Texas A&M Softball is a top consensus top-three team following an undefeated week

Texas A&M Softball is a top consensus top-three team following an undefeated week The Texas A&M softball team went 3-0 during the week, culminating in a series victory over the Georgia Bulldogs at Jack Turner Stadium during the weekend. Texas A&M's softball team made waves with their stellar performance this week, kicking things off with a commanding run-rule victory over Prairie View A&M. They then headed to Athens, Georgia, to face the Bulldogs in a competitive conference series. Weather concerns led to a doubleheader on Saturday, where the Aggies dominated Game 1 with an 8-0 run-rule win. In Game 2, after facing some adversity, they made a strong comeback to secure a 12-5 victory. Unfortunately, the weather and TV scheduling prevented the teams from completing the series, but A&M took home their third conference series win. The dynamic trio of Mya Perez, Allie Enright, and KK Dement was unstoppable, contributing a staggering 10 hits, 16 RBIs, and 5 home runs over the weekend. Dement's grand slam in Game 1 was a standout moment, setting the tone for a decisive victory. The Aggies demonstrated incredible teamwork and adaptability, with players stepping up to fill the void when needed. Texas A&M continues to prove their resilience and talent, solidifying their position as a formidable team in the conference. All major softball polls have the Aggies in the Top 5 after two mid-week run-rule victories and sweeping LMU last week. Texas A&M will open the series against LSU on April 11 at 6:00 pm. CT.
