Lady Gaga's Half-Decade-Old Hit Stands Out As It Climbs

Lady Gaga charts three songs in the U.K. this week, including 'Always Remember Us This Way,' which ... More rises on every ranking on which it appears. NEW YORK, NEW YORK - MAY 06: Lady Gaga attends The 2019 Met Gala Celebrating Camp: Notes on Fashion at Metropolitan Museum of Art on May 06, 2019 in New York City. (Photo by) Lady Gaga claims a trio of hits in the United Kingdom this week. Two come from her most recent album, Mayhem, which is still performing well on multiple rankings. The third of the superstar singer's successful tracks at the moment has nothing to do with her latest era. In fact, it was released well over half a decade ago. It stands apart from her other two current smashes thanks to its longevity and the fact that it's climbing after so much time. 'Always Remember Us This Way' appears on two U.K.-based lists this frame. Despite having already spent more than two years on both the Official Singles Sales and Official Singles Downloads charts, it is on the rise. The smash bolts back into the top 40 on both of those tallies. 'Always Remember Us This Way' jumps to No. 35 on the downloads-only roster and No. 37 — up more than 10 spots — on the list of the bestselling individual tracks throughout the country. Of course, Gaga fans are already very familiar with 'Always Remember Us This Way.' The tune is a standout from the A Star Is Born soundtrack and was written and recorded specifically for the singer's first major film role. Sometimes 'Shallow,' which went on to win the Academy Award for Best Original Song as well as several Grammys, outshines 'Always Remember Us This Way,' but at the moment, listeners in the U.K. are clearly not just enjoying but buying this tune – not her Bradley Cooper duet. Both 'Die With a Smile' and 'Abracadabra' with Bruno Mars also appear on both the Official Singles Sales and Official Singles Downloads charts. In both instances, they climb higher than 'Always Remember Us This Way,' and Gaga fills a trio of spaces inside the top 40 on the two lists. While her Mars collaboration steps up a few spots, 'Abracadabra' — the latest Mayhem-focused cut — declines by a handful of spaces. Unlike 'Die With a Smile' and 'Abracadabra,' however, 'Always Remember Us This Way' is only on the up-and-up. It doesn't decline on any ranking… but that's also because it doesn't appear on more than just the two purchase-centric rosters. Both 'Die With a Smile' and 'Abracadabra' carve out space on the Official Singles chart, a general consumption ranking, as well as the Official Streaming list. In both cases, the smashes are on the downswing, meaning performance is a bit mixed — unlike the A Star Is Born tune.

The Voice Australia winner reveals he hasn't heard from mentor Rita Ora since filming the show

Performer Lachie Gill has confirmed that he has not maintained links with pop star Rita Ora after the Brit singer coached him to a win on The Voice in 2022. The 27-year-old PE teacher made the admission during a social media question and answer fan session this week. Still, it appears that the former AFL player has no hard feelings about the Brit pop star as he posted his story which he captioned, 'Your most common question is finally answered.' Sharing a selfie clip to his Instagram Lachie posted a series of questions from fans about Rita including, 'Are you still friends with Rita Ora?' and 'Do you still talk to Rita?'. Someone else asked, 'Have you seen Rita since The Voice?' In the video Lachie can be seen nodding his head sadly alongside the caption, 'No'. However, the fan favourite added a nostalgic throwback clip in which he an be seen belting out Lady Ga Ga's 'Always Remember Us This Way' alongside Rita during The Voice Grand Final in 2022. He then added the sweet message, 'but… I'll always remember us this way.' Since being crowned winner of The Voice Lachie dropped the 2023 EP Write It Out, after two singles in 2022, Wasted Time and Sad Summer. Lachie last heard from Rita after the finale aired Yahoo Lifestyle reported in 2023. 'She messaged me after the show and just said she's super proud of me. She actually said, "We won! I'm super proud of you"' he recalled. After being crowned winner of The Voice Australia for 2022 Lachie walked away with $100,000 prize money and a recording contract with Universal Music Australia. After host Sonia Kruger delivered the verdict, the former football player and P.E. teacher said he was 'blown away'. 'Oh my God! From the start, I just never, ever would have expected this. I'm just blown away. Thank you so much. Wow. Thank you,' Lachie exclaimed. After confirming that he hasn't heard from Rita during a fan QnA Lachie added a throwback clip in which he an be seen belting out Lady Ga Ga's 'Always Remember Us This Way' alongside Rita during The Voice Grand Final in 2022 (pictured) Proud coach Rita, praised him for his talent and thanked Australia for their support. 'You did all of this. Australia, thank you, thank you, I love you. I feel like this is just the beginning for you. Congratulations. I'm so happy for you I can't breathe!' she gushed. From the very start, Rita was determined to get the talented Lachie on her team. 'Lachie is in a league of his own; he's the ultimate storyteller and has the ability to capture the audience and have them go along with him. He sings like it's the last time, every time,' she said. Lachie thanked the Body on Me hit-maker for reminding him to stay authentic. 'You've given me challenging songs, but you've always said, 'Don't try and be someone else, just do it Lachie's way',' he said. It comes after Lachie spoke out about his career in a frank 2023 interview. Becoming a successful performer is incredibly difficult, he said, even if you've starred on a popular singing show. Lachie said that because there are so many budding artists out there looking for their big break a singer really needs to stand out to get noticed. 'People think if they've just won a TV show they are going to be a star. That is not how it works,' he told The Daily Telegraph. 'At the end of the day, there are so many artists out there and you have to be that little bit different to make people want to listen to you rather than someone else.' His warning ring true as while some singing show winners like Australian Idol's Guy Sebastian have gone onto have successful musical careers, many others fade from the spotlight like The Voice's 2021 winner Bella Taylor Smith.

Lady Gaga changes 'A Star Is Born' song lyric about catching 'on fire' for FireAid benefit concert performance

Lady Gaga has watered down a key lyric to her popular A Star Is Born soundtrack song "Always Remember Us This Way," during a Thursday evening performance at the FireAid concert benefiting those affected by the devastating Los Angeles wildfires. The 38-year-old pop star took the stage in an all-black outfit at the city's Intuit Dome as the final performer of the evening, sitting behind the piano as she sang a slightly altered rendition of "Always Remember Us This Way" featuring new lyrics that replaced the song's original words likening romantic attraction to catching "on fire." "That California sky burning in your eyes. You look at me and know this feeling I desire," Gaga sang during her set (at around the 5:49:00 mark in the FireAid stream below), though the original lyrics to the song are, "That Arizona sky burning in your eyes. You look at me and, babe, I wanna catch on fire." Polansky also recently collaborated with Gaga on her Joker: Folie à Deux companion album, Harlequin, and her upcoming seventh solo pop album, Mayhem, which is out on March 7. "I think it's a beautiful thing when you can, with your partner, share an artistic experience that might be hard for some people, but Michael understands me so well that it actually gave birth to this record," Gaga previously told Entertainment Weekly of working with Polansky to channel the complexities of her interpretation of Harley Quinn into the Harlequin album. "If anything, his understanding of Lee in our everyday life and through the filming of the movie helped him to be more of an incredible collaborator. He was always working on how do we push the sound to sonically tell her story in a way that would be vibrant, but also tense, dangerous, and also pure?" Other artists who participated in the concert — which was split between two venues — included Billie Eilish, Gracie Abrams, Jelly Roll, Katy Perry, Lil Baby, Olivia Rodrigo, Peso Pluma, Rod Stewart, Stevie Wonder, Sting, Tate McRae, and Earth, Wind & Fire at the Intuit Dome, while Alanis Morissette, Anderson .Paak, John Mayer, Dawes, Graham Nash, Green Day, John Fogerty, Joni Mitchell, No Doubt, Pink, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Stephen Stills, Stevie Nicks, and the Black Crowes performed on a separate stage at the Kia Forum. According to the event's official website, proceeds from ticket sales were donated to "short-term relief efforts and long-term initiatives to prevent future fire disasters" in the region, after multiple deadly fires broke out in L.A. and decimated the surrounding area in early January."It was such an honor to sing @FireAidLA for you during this incredibly challenging time," Gaga shared on social media the morning after the concert. "Thank you for having me, and thank you to everyone who donated. I love you CALIFORNIA, we'll keep moving forward." In addition to the aforementioned Mayhem, Gaga is also set to appear in an undisclosed role in the upcoming second season of Netflix's Wednesday series — a development EW was first to break news of in November. Lady Gaga Closes FireAid With ‘Shallow' and Shares Hopeful Song Written for Concert

Lady Gaga closed out one of the FireAid benefit shows from Intuit Dome, performing an emotional rendition of her song 'Shallow' followed by a rousing performance of 'Always Remember Us This Way.' The singer concluded the set with a new song written specifically for the concert. 'I love you so much,' Lady Gaga said as she took the stage, appearing at a grand piano alongside a band. 'Thank you so much for having me tonight.' After showcasing 'Shallow,' she added, 'This has been a horrible, scary time, but during these times I feel like people come together and we see how much we need each other. And I want to always remember us just like this.' 'When I was thinking about what to sing tonight I wanted to do something hopeful for you,' Gaga explained. She said she couldn't find the right song in her catalogue so she and her fiancé Michael Polansky wrote a new one for the occasion. 'It's just for tonight, it's just for you,' she said. 'Shallow' was written for the film A Star Is Born and originally sung by Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper. The song won the Oscar Best Original Song after its release in 2018. 'Always Remember Us This Way' also appeared in the film, although Gaga tweaked the lyrics for FireAid, amending the opening line to, 'That California sky burnin' in your eyes.' Billie Eilish, Olivia Rodrigo, and Katy Perry were among the other pop stars to perform in the same venue, one of two arenas where artists are putting on benefit shows tonight. Music industry mogul Irving Azoff produced the concerts with LiveNation and AEG Presents. LA's Intuit Dome and KIA Forum hosted concurrent, star-studded concerts to raise money for the victims of the Los Angeles wildfires that have been raging across the county for weeks. Other performers included Joni Mitchell, Stevie Nicks, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Jelly Roll, and Peso Pluma. Alongside the live shows, the events have been streaming live at select AMC Theaters, iHeartRadio, Apple Music, Netflix, Paramount+, Prime Video, Max, SiriusXM, SoundCloud, Veeps, and YouTube.
