Sarah Michelle Gellar calls Alyson Hannigan at 'crisis times'
Sarah Michelle Gellar is always "there emotionally" for Alyson Hannigan. The 48-year-old actress starred alongside Alyson, 51, on 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer', the supernatural drama series, between 1997 and 2003, and Sarah has explained how their friendship has survived more than 30 years. The actress - who has Charlotte, 15, and Rocky, 12, with husband Freddie Prinze Jr - told Us Weekly: "Moms understand that friendship doesn't mean I have to call you every single day. "There's never a crisis time in my life that there isn't a text from Alyson. I don't mean that in a bad way. That's how you maintain a friendship: by knowing the things that [matter]. "We don't miss birthdays. We don't miss the big ones. Those moments, that's why a friendship lasts a long period of time. It's not about being able to make the time every day or once a week to do an exercise class. It's about when you're on 'Dancing with the Stars', I couldn't be there in person. I want to be there emotionally, texting you after every episode, making sure people vote." Alyson actually married Alexis Denisof, her 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' co-star, in 2003. But the actress sought advice from Anthony Head, another former co-star, before she decided to pursue the romance. She shared: "I remember Anthony Head saying - because at this point Alexis was on [the spin-off] 'Angel' - and so it was so obvious that we needed to decide whether or not this was going to be something. "So I went to Tony and I was like, 'Should we go on a date?' He's like, 'Absolutely not. It will ruin your friendship. You guys are too good. Do not date him.' So on the big anniversaries, I'm like, 'Hey Tony, thanks for the advice.'" Sarah, for her part, wasn't too surprised that Alyson married their 'Buffy' co-star. The actress said: "Do you know this has happened to me numerous times? Because there was also another girl that had a similar, very hard crush on someone that I watched. It was Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos. "And I watched Kelly the day that she met Mark, and she came running and she's like, 'there is the hottest guy.' And he was like, 'No, not where I work.' So, usually, I know how that ends."

Mum faces biggest fear after ‘one of the most difficult times of her life'
A MUM faced her biggest fear in the name of a cause that helped her through 'one of the most difficult times of her life'. Alyson Alcorn completed a daredevil skydive earlier this month, jumping out of a plane in the name of raising awareness surrounding perinatal mental health. In 2020, during the height of the Covid pandemic, Ms Alcorn gave birth to 'beautiful' twin girls, however, the occasion was marred by the onset of postnatal depression. Isolated due to Covid restrictions, the mum, from Quarry Bank, struggled alone on a hospital ward with her newborns. Ms Alcorn said she is not sure she would be here today without the help of the charity (Image: Black Country Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust) Ms Alcorn said: 'I begged my mum to 'take the girls back where they came from' and would say 'I don't want them!' without a hint of hesitation. 'As hard as that is to think about now, I meant every word at the time.' Fortunately, Ms Alcorn had been identified as high risk for postnatal depression by her midwife which meant she received immediate support from the Perinatal Community Mental Health Service at Black Country Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. She credits the support she received as giving her her life back, saying: 'They came to my house; they listened, they learned about me, and they helped me. 'They got me access to nursery nurses, taught me baby massage and, most importantly, got me the medical care I needed. 'It is no exaggeration to say, without them, I'm not sure I would be here today.' Ms Alcorn decided to 'face her ultimate fear' of taking on a skydive to raise money for Black Country Brighter Lives, the charity of Black Country Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. The money she raised will go directly to the Perinatal Mental Health team to support others who, as she did, needed help to deal with mental illness. The skydive was her ultimate fear (Image: Black Country Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust) Sharing the team's gratitude for Ms Alcorn's challenge, Emma Doyle, Service Manager for the Black County Perinatal Mental Health team, said: 'I want to pass on a huge heartfelt thank you to Alyson for doing this courageous thing. 'It's fabulous that this will raise awareness around perinatal mental health and reduce the stigma that many people feel. 'We are honoured to help people like Alyson, where the journey into parenthood is challenging.' Ms Alcorn wishes to continue raising more awareness of perinatal mental health, adding: 'There is still stigma. We are desperate to be seen as 'perfect mums' with perfect families, but the reality is a lot different. 'I am one of the lucky ones. I had an incredible support network, but there are many who don't. 'I am gladly facing my (ultimate) fear if it means another person in my situation gets the help they need and deserve.'

Most beautiful spot on in NH, Maine? Yankee Magazine picked these 4 destinations
New Hampshire and Maine are great places to visit. With Maine's beautiful coastal views and New Hampshire's breathtaking mountain ranges perfect for hikes and nature walks, both New Hampshire and Maine states are known for being beautiful. And that's why Yankee Magazine included four Seacoast locales in their list of the 12 most beautiful places to visit in New England. "More than anything, look through these photos and then find their equal wherever you may travel in New England: villages, cities, woods, waterways, orchards, farms," Yankee Magazine said. "Be alert for even the smallest moments of beauty." Here are Yankee Magazine's picks for most beautiful places to visit in New Hampshire and Maine. If you're a fan of sweeping displays of nature's majesty, then going to this national park should definitely be on your bucket list. What Yankee Magazine said about Acadia National Park: "As a largely rural state, Maine offers some of the most pristine night skies imaginable. This celestial bounty is celebrated each September at the Acadia Night Sky Festival, one of the East Coast's biggest and best-known night sky events. You don't have to wait till fall, though, to get a front-row seat to Acadia's cavalcade of stars: The curtain goes up every night." More: These isolated forests in Maine are 'dark skies sanctuaries:' See where There's nothing like being on the water with someone you love, and, just like Katherine Hepburn and Henry Fonda in "On Golden Pond," you could rekindle your love for one another at this New Hampshire lake. What Yankee Magazine said about Squam Lake: "In contrast to the busy summer playground that is nearby Lake Winnipesaukee, Squam Lake has an unhurried, almost romantic air—a loch amid the New Hampshire highlands. Take a boat tour to be charmed by its scattering of islands and stretches of undeveloped shoreline, and keep an eye out for the loons, bald eagles, and great blue herons that nest here." If you're interested in boating on Squam Lake, you're going to need to launch from 534 US-3 in Holderness, N.H., Squam Lakes Association website said. Docking your boat at public lands like Moon Island, Bowman Island, Chamberlain Reynolds Memorial Forest, and Five Finger Point is advised as is steering clear of privately owned areas, which make up much of Squam Lake. Orchards are a New England staple, and this one in the Granite State does not disappoint. What Yankee Magazine said about Alyson's Orchard: "A steep, west-facing hillside at this 350-acre property in Walpole gives its trees abundant exposure, which in turn produces exceptional fruit. That same hillside gives Alyson's visitors abundant views—of the Connecticut River Valley and onward to Vermont—which in turn produce exceptional memories." You can visit Alyson's Orchard at 57 Alyson's Ln., Walpole. With all the stressors in the world and in daily life right now, don't you deserve a stay at a reservation-only inn and restaurant inside a gloriously beautiful greenhouse? Yankee Magazine seems to think so. What Yankee Magazine said about Aragosta: "The reservations-only Hillside Greenhouse at Aragosta, chef-owner Devin Finigan's destination restaurant and inn on Deer Isle might be the prettiest dining room you'll ever see. (The nearby Forest Greenhouse, added in 2023, could be a close contender, though.)" You can visit Aragosta at 300 Goose Cove Rd., Deer Isle. Rin Velasco is a trending reporter. Glasgow postcode gets Christmas cards now amid Royal Mail delays
Alyson McKell, chair of Townhead and Ladywell Community Council, says many residents are now choosing to travel to the G1-G5 Delivery Office on Baird Street to pick up letters so they can be sure to get them all. She says on one occasion she picked up eight letters, despite the postie being out and delivering at that time. READ NEXT: Not received post? Glasgow community angry over delays 'putting lives at risk' Alyson explained: "[The postie] went out and delivered two, I've went and picked up eight, I went out for the day, came back and there were four more letters." She says another resident picked up 20 letters when they went up to the delivery office despite the fact they had had some delivered. The 58-year-old said: "Christmas cards are coming in the door to people, that's how bad it is. "We're in April now, we're at Easter, never mind Christmas." Alyson continued: "One person told me he got three bills from Scottish Power telling him 'you're in arrears'. "These are elderly people and they're panicking. "It's shocking. "It's across the whole of Townhead, everybody's talking about it." The Glasgow Times has previously reported residents living in the Garnethill and Woodlands areas, which are also covered by the Glasgow G1-5 Delivery Office, have been experiencing delays in receiving their mail. READ NEXT: Glasgow woman battling cancer missed appointments after letters failed to arrive Like residents living in those areas, Alyson says people living in Townhead and Ladywell have had hospital appointments, bills, bank statements and bank cards never arrive or be delivered too late, with one woman having to order a new card three times. She says the issue has been ongoing since around July last year. Alyson says she believes part of the issue is the fact there is currently no regular postie serving the area, with one she spoke to earlier this month telling her he was based in Dumbarton. She said "They bring them in for one day and then not for weeks. "When you do get mail, it's the wrong address, wrong letterbox, wrong square and then if they can't get in the main door they just slide it under and leave it in the stairwell." Kaukab Stewart MSP (Image: PA) After being contacted by residents about the issue, MSP Kaukab Stewart shared an online survey with community councils to gather further information for a requested meeting with Royal Mail. The survey has received more than 50 responses so far with more than 90% saying they have experienced issues and more than 50% saying they missed hospital appointments due to a delay in receiving letters. Stewart said: "Over the past few months constituents throughout G1-G5 have been in touch to share the issues that they have been experiencing with Royal Mail deliveries. "After receiving a disappointing response from the Royal Mail, I have requested an urgent meeting to discuss these issues, and asked constituents to share their experience with the Royal Mail through a survey. "This survey has shown that 91% of those responding have been experiencing issues with the Royal Mail, with 55% of those stating that they have missed hospital appointments, and 43% stating that they have missed bills. "This is shocking, and I look forward to discussing this with the Royal Mail in person." A Royal Mail spokesperson said: "We can confirm mail continues to be delivered across the area daily, with any items not delivered one day prioritised the next. "While the delivery office has experienced recent resourcing issues, due to sick absence and vacancies, these have significantly reduced. "We're continuing to recruit more posties to further strengthen our team and improve reliability for local residents." Kaukab Stewart's Royal Mail deliveries survey for those living in the G1-G5 areas can be accessed HERE.
