Police Academy, NCM Host Seminar on Women's Role in Peacekeeping

Ahmed Emam The Police Academy, headed by Major General Hani Abu Al-Makarem, in cooperation with the National Council for Women, led by Counselor Amal Ammar, organized a wide-ranging seminar on Wednesday under the title 'The Role of Women in Peacekeeping.' The event marked the 25th anniversary of United Nations Security Council Resolution 1325 on 'Women, Peace, and Security.' It took place at the Egyptian Center for Training on Peacekeeping Operations, affiliated with the Academy. The seminar was attended by a number of high ranking international figures, including Major General Hani Abu Al-Makarem, Assistant Minister of Interior and President of the Police Academy; Counselor Amal Ammar, representative of the National Council for Women; Marwa Alam El-Din, representative of UN Women; and María Tarancón Sanz, Director of the Spanish Cooperation Program in Egypt. In her remarks, Counselorp Ammar expressed her gratitude to the Police Academy, the Peacekeeping Training Center, and UN Women, emphasizing that such cooperation highlights the critical role women play in peacekeeping and in building resilient, stable societies. She noted that the seminar reflects Egypt's continued support for Security Council Resolution 1325 and reaffirms the country's commitment to empowering women in times of peace and conflict, while promoting gender equality in all areas of peacebuilding. Minister of Social Solidarity Honors Lam Shamseya Cast, Applauds United Media Services for Impactful Drama

The Ministry of Social Solidarity hosted a special ceremony to honor the cast of the series Lam Shamseya. Produced by United Media Services, the series aired during the holy month of Ramadan and was celebrated for its powerful social impact. The event was also attended by Counselor Amal Ammar, President of the National Council for Women, and Dr. Sahar El Sonbaty, President of the National Council for Childhood and Motherhood. The Minister of Social Solidarity Maya Morse honored Mohamed El Saadi, Chairman of Media Hub and board member at United Media Services, director Karim El Shenawy, screenwriter Mariam Naoum, and the series's stars Amina Khalil, Ahmed El Saadany, Yousra El Lozy, Kamal Abu Raya, Tharaa Goubail, Yara Gobran, Ali El Beily, and content consultant for child psychology Sarah Aziz. Other honorees included Mohamed Serry (Project Manager), Saif Gowhar (Producer), Ahmed Farghaly (Executive Producer), Ali Hossam (Art and Set Director), Ghadeer Khaled (Costume Designer), Baher Rachid (Editor), and Mina Samy (Composer). Dr. Maya Morsy presented honorary shields from the Ministry to both the heads of the National Council for Women and the National Council for Childhood and Motherhood, as well as UNICEF's representative. In turn, Counselor Amal Ammar awarded shields from the National Council for Women to the stars and creators of the series in recognition of their efforts. Dr. Morsy expressed her delight at the overwhelming success and positive reception of the series, extending gratitude to United Media Services and the entire team behind Lam Shamsia. She emphasized how the show became a powerful tool for social awareness, calling it one of the standout dramas of Ramadan — a work destined to be remembered for its precision and impactful storytelling. 'Exceptional drama is a weapon for raising awareness and safeguarding our children,' she noted. Dr. Morsy added that Lam Shamsia stirred much-needed conversations, with every scene offering lessons in ethics while respecting family values. She praised producer Mohamed El Saadi for his vision and commitment to socially impactful storytelling from the very start. The Minister also highlighted the extensive research and collaboration behind the series, involving hotlines from both the National Council for Women and the National Council for Childhood and Motherhood, as well as coordination with UNICEF and the Ministry of Social Solidarity — all of which contributed to the show's polished and authentic outcome. For her part, Counselor Amal Ammar underscored the transformative power of drama in shaping public consciousness, especially when tackling sensitive issues like child harassment — 'a silent crime that threatens the innocence of childhood and family security,' she said. She praised Lam Shamsia as an artistic masterpiece, commending its thoughtful, human approach to these complex topics. 'The show's success was no coincidence,' she stressed, 'but the result of a mature vision, skilled storytelling, and a shared dedication to producing a meaningful work.' She continued, 'We all witnessed how the series mirrored reality without confrontation, encouraging viewers to reflect and take positive action. Counselor Ammar proudly noted that the National Council for Women had been involved from the earliest stages of development, sharing real-life cases and insights with the creative team to enhance the show's authenticity. Mohamed El Saadi, Chairman of Media Hub and board member of United Media Services, expressed his appreciation to the Minister for recognizing the cast and creators. Egyptian and UAE flags - file CAIRO - 15 March 2025: Head of the Egyptian National Council for Women (NCW) Amal Ammar conferred with UAE Family Minister Sana bint Mohammed Suhail on means to boost cooperation and exchange expertise in the field of empowering women and promoting family bonds within the framework of Egypt's participation in the 69th session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW69). During the meeting, Ammar asserted that the Egyptian women are living their golden era due to the supportive political administration, pointing out to the national strategy to empower the Egyptian women 2030. Ammar reviewed the efforts of Egypt and the NCW to support the family via presenting awareness programs. Meanwhile, the UAE minister reviewed the efforts of her ministry in supporting the family and empowering women.

Nada Mustafa Counselor Amal Ammar, President of National Council for Women (NCW), met with Mahinur Özdemir, Turkish Minister of Family and Social Services, on the sidelines of her participation as head of the Egyptian delegation at the 69th session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW69) at the United Nations. The session, held in March, focuses on the review and assessment of progress in the Beijing Platform for Action +30. During the meeting, both sides discussed ways to enhance cooperation in the areas of women's economic and social empowerment and protection from violence, particularly cyber violence. They exchanged insights on progress made in combating violence against women and advancing women's empowerment in both countries. Additionally, the discussion explored cooperation within the framework of Egypt and Turkey's membership in the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), with the possibility of organizing seminars to showcase Egyptian and Turkish experiences in women's empowerment. The meeting also addressed collaboration between women's committees in both countries' parliaments to exchange expertise and strengthen Egyptian-Turkish relations.
