Charlton sign defender Bell after Luton exit
Charlton Athletic have signed former Luton Town defender Amari'i Bell on a free transfer. The 31-year-old left the Hatters at the end of his deal this summer and has agreed a two-year contract with the newly promoted Championship side. Advertisement The Jamaica international joined Luton in 2021 and helped the club win promotion to the Premier League two years later. He played 21 games in the top flight before Luton were relegated a year ago, and was a regular in the side that dropped to League One last season. Bell has won 28 caps for Jamaica and scored against Panama in their Concacaf Gold Cup match last month. "Amari'i's someone I know well. I signed him at Luton and he did fantastically well for me," Charlton manager Nathan Jones told the club website. "He knows how I want to play, he has Championship and Premier League experience, and he's a wonderful athlete with pace and power. Advertisement "He will add to the group and we're really delighted because left-sided centre-halves are very difficult to come by." Bell added: "It's a fresh start for me and one that I'm looking forward to as Charlton are on the way back up. "It's another chance to work with Nathan who is a great manager that knows how to get the best out of his players, and he certainly does for me. It's going to be a great time."
