Jennifer Hudson Takes a Basketball to the Face at Knicks Game
Being courtside at a basketball game might not be as glamorous as expected – just ask Jennifer Hudson. The 'Dreamgirls' star took a basketball to the face Tuesday night while attending a New York Knicks game with her boyfriend Common. 'Protect Jennifer Hudson,' one commentator said while watching a replay of the incident. 'Oh no, not the glasses,' the other commentator added. 'Those look expensive too partner.' Jennifer Hudson was smacked in the face with a basketball at an NBA game. — Pop Crave (@PopCrave) March 5, 2025 For his part, Common did make an attempt to deflect the ball – which was lost in transition by Knicks player Miles McBride. His block was only partially successful unfortunately. 'Let me see what Common did, did he protect her?' the commentator asked. 'He tried.' Hudson can now be seen hosting her talk show 'The Jennifer Hudson Show' – which features the increasingly viral spirit tunnel walk segment that features her guests walking out to affirmative chants from people working on the show. Back in February, Hudson revealed they had to turn off comments for Aaron Pierre's tunnel walk because the actor was 'too hot for y'all to handle.' 'That's the first time I have heard that and I do not know what to say,' Pierre told People when asked about the viral moment on the carpet of the American Black Film Festival Honors last Monday. He was in attendance to receive the gala's Rising Star Award. 'It's all love,' the actor added. 'And I really believe it's all very joyful. I receive that, and I'm grateful for that. It's a special thing … so thank you.' Watch the video of Hudson at the game in the video above. Loretta Devine Discussed Her "Mixed" Experience Working With Jennifer Love Hewitt
If you're of a certain age, you might remember the TV show The Client List. Based on a 2010 movie of the same name, the series starred Jennifer Love Hewitt alongside Loretta Devine, Rebecca Field, Brian Hallisay, Colin Egglesfield, and Cybill Shepherd. Well, this week, Loretta looked back on her experience working on the show, where she portrayed former salon owner Georgia Cummings, and, from the sounds of it, it doesn't seem entirely positive. While speaking to People at the American Black Film Festival Honors on Monday, Loretta confessed she had a "mixed" experience filming the show. "You know what? She decided to rewrite the entire angle of the show right in the middle," Loretta claimed of Jennifer. While Loretta says she was initially "very excited" about the changes, producers seemingly weren't because the show was ultimately canceled in 2013 after alleged creative differences between Jennifer and Lifetime. At the time, Entertainment Weekly reported that they couldn't figure out plans for Season 3 amid Jennifer's real-life pregnancy with her co-star and now-husband Brian. According to Deadline, she wanted Brian to portray her child's father while the showrunner wanted Colin, and when those conversations stalled, the show was canceled. Still, Loretta doesn't hold any hard feelings about the show's fate. "Everything gets you prepared for whatever you're going to do next," she said. BuzzFeed has reached out to Jennifer's reps for comment — we'll let you know if we hear back.
