Loretta Devine Discussed Her "Mixed" Experience Working With Jennifer Love Hewitt
If you're of a certain age, you might remember the TV show The Client List.
Based on a 2010 movie of the same name, the series starred Jennifer Love Hewitt alongside Loretta Devine, Rebecca Field, Brian Hallisay, Colin Egglesfield, and Cybill Shepherd.
Well, this week, Loretta looked back on her experience working on the show, where she portrayed former salon owner Georgia Cummings, and, from the sounds of it, it doesn't seem entirely positive.
While speaking to People at the American Black Film Festival Honors on Monday, Loretta confessed she had a "mixed" experience filming the show.
"You know what? She decided to rewrite the entire angle of the show right in the middle," Loretta claimed of Jennifer.
While Loretta says she was initially "very excited" about the changes, producers seemingly weren't because the show was ultimately canceled in 2013 after alleged creative differences between Jennifer and Lifetime.
At the time, Entertainment Weekly reported that they couldn't figure out plans for Season 3 amid Jennifer's real-life pregnancy with her co-star and now-husband Brian. According to Deadline, she wanted Brian to portray her child's father while the showrunner wanted Colin, and when those conversations stalled, the show was canceled.
Still, Loretta doesn't hold any hard feelings about the show's fate. "Everything gets you prepared for whatever you're going to do next," she said.
BuzzFeed has reached out to Jennifer's reps for comment — we'll let you know if we hear back.

Cooper Koch says he auditioned to play a Menendez brother in two other productions before Netflix series
, star of Monsters: Lyle and Erik Menendez, has revealed that prior to landing the role of Erik Menendez in the hit Netflix series, he had auditioned to play one of the brothers in not one, but two other TV productions. Koch recently appeared in conversation with actor Sam Nivola as part of Variety's Actors On Actors interview series. Whilst speaking with Nivola, he admitted that he had his sights set on playing one of the brothers for years before landing his big break in last year's series. 'My second audition ever was for the Law & Order series about them in 2017,' he revealed. 'And then I also had an audition for the Lifetime movie that they were doing the same year. I just felt like this insane cosmic, universe-y thing that was like, 'I have to play this part,'' Koch told Nivola. 'It was just that immense empathy that you feel for a person, and I had to do it'. And this immense empathy.' Law & Order True Crime: The Menendez Murders was released in 2017, starring Gus Halper and Miles Gaston Villanueva as Erik and Lyle respectively. Edie Falco also starred as Leslie Abramson, the defense attorney who represented the brothers. The Lifetime movie Menendez: Blood Brothers was released that same year, starring as Nico Tortorella as Lyle and Myko Olivier as Erik. Hole frontwoman Courtney Love also starred as the brothers' mother Kitty. View this post on Instagram A post shared by popandfilms 🏳️🌈 (@popandfilms) Koch also said that he felt connected to the brothers for a number of reasons, including that they both attended the same Calabasas high school. 'There are all these weird parallels,' he said. 'I still care so deeply about both of them. They're going to parole board in June; that looks very positive,' he went on to say. The actor has been open about his support for the brothers throughout the promotional campaign for the show, saying : 'It is my firm belief that the Menéndez Brothers did not receive a fair second trial and all the evidence that supported their claims of sexual, psychological, physical and emotional abuse at the hands of their mother and father were not considered.' Koch also recalled his rigorous prepation for the playing Menendez, telling Nivola he poured over recordings of the brother for months before shooting: 'I listened to him every night before I went to bed. I had him on in the car when I was driving,' he recalled. 'I really did want to get his voice and mannerisms, because they all further support that he was being sexually abused by his father. I know there's so many perspectives, but I always wanted the audience to sympathise with him.' The performer would later go on to be nominated for a Golden Globe award for his turn in the series. 10 Times Method Actors Made Work Hell For Their Costars
1. The Weeknd's The Idol costar Lily-Rose Depp revealed she'd 'steer clear' of him on set when he was fully in character as Tedros, an abusive and sleazy night-club owner. She told Entertainment Weekly, 'Sometimes when Abel would get — I don't want to reveal too much about where Abel's character goes, but when he would be in full Tedros mode sometimes — I would steer clear of him.' 2. Jared Leto famously sent his Suicide Squad costars a bunch of disgusting 'gifts,' including dead animals, anal beads, and used condoms. He told E!, 'I did a lot of things to create a dynamic, to create an element of surprise, of spontaneity, and to really break down any kind of walls that may be there. I mean, the Joker is somebody who doesn't really respect things like personal space or boundaries.' Naturally, a bunch of his costars called him out, including Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Will Smith, and Viola Davis. 3. Robert Pattinson admitted that he got on Willem Dafoe's nerves on the set of The Lighthouse. Robert said that because he was playing 'fucking psychotic' Ephraim Winslow, he felt it was OK to 'be mad the whole time.' "You can literally just be sitting on the floor, growling and licking up puddles of mud...[I was] basically unconscious the whole time. It was crazy. I spent so much time making myself throw up. Pissing my pants. It's the most revolting thing. I don't know, maybe it's really annoying," he said. 4. Brian Cox once said that he found his Succession costar Jeremy Strong's method acting 'fucking annoying.' For context, Jeremy has publicly shared that he refused to rehearse with his costars on the show because he wanted 'every scene' to feel like he was 'encountering a bear in the woods.' 'I think you have to go through whatever the ordeal is that the character has to go through,' Jeremy said. 'If I have any method at all, it is simply this: to clear away anything — anything — that is not the character and the circumstances of the scene … usually that means clearing away almost everything around and inside you, so that you can be a more complete vessel for the work at hand,' he shared in 2021. 5. Tyrese Gibson once claimed that his Annapolis costar James Franco 'never snapped out of character' on set. 'I respect method actors, but he never snapped out of character. Whenever we'd have to get in the ring for boxing scenes, and even during practice, the dude was full-on hitting me. I was always like, 'James, lighten up, man. We're just practicing.' He never lightened up,' he claimed. 6. Daniel Day-Lewis's method acting for Phantom Thread seriously annoyed his costar Vicky Krieps, who told the Telegraph: 'After half the movie, I was just really tired of it. Like, 'OK, I get it. It's a game. I've played it. But can we just talk normally now, please?'' 7. Paul Giamatti once called out his Man on the Moon costar Jim Carrey's 'wacky' behavior on set. He said, 'It was one of the weirdest experiences I've had making a movie, to be honest with you. It was just wacky. Jim was wacky during it. He did this whole thing where he was Andy Kaufman all the time when he was on set and when he was in the costume, and was Tony Clifton all the time when he was Tony Clifton…When he was Tony Clifton, he had cheese — Limburger cheese — in his pockets, so he smelled horrible. And he'd constantly be hugging people, and he had it all over his hands and stuff. It was disgusting. He was touching people and making them shake his hands all the time. He smelled horrible. Like, really bad. It was just weird. And that's the least of it.' 8. In 2022, Jesse Plemons called out his The Power of the Dog costar Benedict Cumberbatch for making a rude comment about him while in character. 'There was one time he got under my skin. He was like, 'Hey, big boy.' It wasn't 'fatso.' I feel like a few people in life have been like, 'Hey, big boy,' and I was like, 'Goddamn it. What the fuck,'' he told Variety. 9. Meryl Streep once called out her Kramer vs. Kramer costar Dustin Hoffman for allegedly slapping her off-script without consent. She told the New York Times, 'This is tricky because when you're an actor, you're in a scene, you have to feel free. I'm sure that I have inadvertently hurt people in physical scenes. But there's a certain amount of forgiveness in that. But this was my first movie, and it was my first take in my first movie, and he just slapped me. And you see it in the movie. It was overstepping.' 10. And finally, I had to include Timothée Chalamet's recent comments about an unnamed actor who made his on-set experience filming a Western quite 'something' after they simply 'weren't washing' in a bid to stay in character. 'It was quite something on set. That waft coming in every day,' he said. If you can think of more examples, feel free to share in the comments!

'The Summer I Turned Pretty' final season trailer reveals Jeremiah and Belly's engagement, Conrad's heartbreak
The battle for Belly's (Lola Tung) heart is alive and well in the final season of The Summer I Turned Pretty — and it's all leading to a wedding. The first trailer for the third and final season of Prime Video's adaptation of Jenny Han's beloved book trilogy is finally here, and it teases plenty of drama ahead for Belly and the Fisher brothers after both a long hiatus and a major time jump. But the biggest bombshell in the footage? Belly gets engaged to her current boyfriend Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno), even though her first love Conrad (Christopher Briney) is still very much in her heart. "First loves are important," Belly says in the trailer, which features a mashup of Taylor Swift's "Red (Taylor's Version)" and "Daylight." "But they're not as important as lasts." The trailer begins with sweet shots of Belly and Jeremiah acting super couple-y now that they're at college together. And Conrad tells a woman all about his first and only love, Belly, while he's away in California. But while Belly tries to tell herself that Conrad is "the past" and Jeremiah is her "future" and "the one," the love triangle reignites as all three return to Cousins for a life-changing summer leading up to the wedding. Watch the full trailer below. According to the official synopsis, the final season picks up at "the end of her junior year in college," which is a departure from Han's final book in the series, We'll Always Have Summer, which is set two summers earlier. The author-showrunner previously told Entertainment Weekly that fans of her books should prepare for changes from the source material. "There are surprises," Han said. "And there are things that aren't exactly like the books." When the final season begins, Belly is happily still together with Jeremiah after choosing him over Conrad in the season 2 finale. While her future seems set, "some core-shaking events" bring Conrad back into her life, reigniting the feelings she long thought were buried. Belly will be forced to make a decision, once and for all, of which Fisher brother she wants to be with. "I feel like I'm doing my job if people are really fighting for their sides," Han previously told EW of the Team Conrad vs. Team Jeremiah shipper debate. But it all leads to what Han hopes is a "satisfying" conclusion in the series finale, no matter what "team" you root for."A successful love triangle is one where, no matter what happens, people are going to be devastated and heartbroken," Han warned. "Because if the answer feels really clear and easy, then there's no real conflict. No matter what you do, someone's going to be hurt by it." The final season of The Summer I Turned Pretty premieres Wednesday, July 16, with episodes rolling out weekly on Prime Video. Read the original article on Entertainment Weekly
