MOE and MACC boost integrity culture with CeIO programme
PUTRAJAYA: The Certified Integrity Officer (CeIO) programme remains a key initiative in fostering integrity governance, particularly within Malaysia's education sector. Ministry of Education (MOE) Secretary-General Datuk Dr Aminuddin Hassim emphasised that the programme is a strategic investment in building internal capacity to combat corruption and malpractice. Since 2022, the collaboration between MOE and the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Academy (MACA) under MACC has played a crucial role in promoting integrity and good governance. 'This partnership goes beyond conventional training. It adopts a systematic and targeted approach to produce credible, integrity-driven officers capable of managing compliance and corruption prevention,' said Aminuddin. The recent Public Sector CeIO Programme in Negeri Sembilan saw participation from 55 ministry officers nationwide. MACC Deputy Chief Commissioner (Prevention) Datuk Azmi Kamaruzaman highlighted the role of CeIOs in driving corruption prevention and integrity-based governance. Azmi noted that the programme, launched in 2009, has accredited 2,851 officers to date. 'Their effectiveness in ensuring a transparent and accountable public service is vital in achieving Malaysia's goal of ranking among the top 25 countries in the Corruption Perceptions Index by 2033,' he added. – Bernama

MOE launches 1,000 Sekolah Angkat MADANI for digital skills
KLUANG: The Ministry of Education (MOE) is committed to producing students skilled in digital technology through the implementation of the Sekolah Angkat MADANI initiative, which involves 1,000 pilot schools nationwide. Its secretary-general Datuk Dr Aminuddin Hassim said the effort aligns with the rapid development of technology, a crucial foundation for propelling Malaysia towards developed nation status. 'Through this initiative, pupils and students will be exposed to technology-based learning, which will strengthen their skills in using gadgets and digital devices before they move on to higher education,' he said after launching the MOE Secretary-General's Sekolah Angkat MADANI initiative at Sekolah Kebangsaan Seri Kampung Tengah here today. He said of the 1,000 schools announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim last week, a total of 790 primary and secondary schools have been identified for the initial phase of the initiative. The ministry has also held discussions with the Ministry of Finance, as well as industry and corporate players, to enhance digital-related needs, including in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM), he said. Aminuddin further said that to date, more than 50 industry and corporate leaders, including government-linked companies (GLCs), have pledged their commitment to supporting the programme. Focus is also being placed on future-oriented learning such as artificial intelligence (AI). He said the implementation of the initiative focuses on five key pillars – upgrading school infrastructure and facilities, strengthening academic programmes, teacher training and development, financial assistance, and the provision of scholarships for students.

GENERAL Secretary General of MOE Datuk Ts. Dr. Aminuddin Hassim delivers the closing speech at the ASEAN Education Forum themed "Accelerating Innovative Strategies: Mitigating OOSCY Challenges," held in conjunction with the ASEAN Education and Higher Education Ministers' Roundtable 2025 (#EduRoundtables2025) here today. -- fotoBERNAMA (2025) COPYRIGHT RESERVED By R. Vikneswaran LANGKAWI, June 18 (Bernama) -- Innovative strategies aimed at continuous adaptation and improvement in reducing the number of Out-of-School Children and Youth (OOSCY) are the main focus of the ASEAN Education Ministers' Roundtable (#EduRoundtables2025), which commenced today. Ministry of Education (MOE) secretary-general Datuk Dr Aminuddin Hassim said one of the key objectives of the two-day session is to adopt a Joint Statement on ASEAN OOSCY as an outcome document reflecting a shared understanding among ASEAN Ministers. 'The Joint Statement is proposed as a guiding framework to advance collective action in addressing critical challenges that have hindered progress in ensuring access to education. 'The Joint Statement would serve as a foundational commitment to strengthen education in the region over the next decade, focusing on issues such as the digital divide and limited access to technology; economic challenges and rising poverty; climate change, conflict and displacement; and inclusive policies for marginalised groups. 'For Malaysia, this will enhance collaboration with ASEAN countries and non-governmental organisations (NGO), especially in leveraging local knowledge, expertise, and networks to address OOSCY needs,' he told Bernama, here today. Aminuddin also expressed hope that the collaboration would improve educational cooperation within ASEAN to enhance access and ensure sustainable, context-appropriate interventions. Besides ASEAN member states and Timor Leste as an observer, the forum includes representatives from international organisations such as the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF) and Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization (SEAMEO). 'The forum provides a dynamic platform for sharing innovative frameworks to tackle the critical issues faced by OOSCY, with an emphasis on equitable access to quality education and learning opportunities for marginalised groups, as highlighted in the SDG4-Education 2030 Agenda,' he said.

Inaccurate Jalur Gemilang: Action Pending Full Report From MOE Sec-gen
SEPANG, April 24 (Bernama) -- Appropriate action will be taken over the error in the display of the Jalur Gemilang in the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) Examination Results Analysis Report, which was distributed today, once the full report on the matter is received. Chief Secretary to the Government (KSN) Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar said that Ministry of Education (MOE) secretary-general Datuk Dr Aminuddin Hassim has been instructed to prepare a comprehensive report on the incident. 'When we design the flag, it must be done correctly and with a full understanding of its essence. Issues arise when we attempt it without truly grasping the spirit it represents,' he told reporters during a roundtable session on the national good governance agenda, here, today. Also present at the session were Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki and Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) chairman Datuk Seri Wong Chun Wai. Shamsul Azri stressed that the design of the national flag should be crafted manually and reflect a deep personal understanding, rather than relying entirely on artificial intelligence (AI) technology. 'Why use AI? It is our national flag, make it yourself. Even when using AI, the results can be inaccurate. Sometimes the stripes appear wider in the middle, and that's just not right. Love our flag, love our country,' he said. He emphasised that any design involving national symbols must be handled with greater care. 'Anything we produce for public release, especially for media use, must go through a thorough review. Mistakes like these should never happen,' he said. He added that, while there are official guidelines for the use of the Jalur Gemilang, a lack of awareness or complacency often leads to such errors.
