Indians react to Karan Johar's new reality show, The Traitors. ‘Have some mercy on us'

'What is this ameero ka off season Splitsvilla?' wrote one Instagram user under Karan Johar's post. Another one wrote: 'The game we played on school trips and holidays is now basically a reality show.' The trailer has generated great interest among Indian viewers, who have all started sharing their two cents on social media. New Delhi: The highly-anticipated Indian version of reality show The Traitors will see Karan Johar play host to 20 contestants. The trailer, which dropped on Thursday, will see 'Rebel Kid' Apoorva Mukhija match her wit and cunning with actor Arjun Kapoor's sister Anshula Kapoor, Shilpa Shetty's husband Raj Kundra, Maheep Kapoor from Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives, and other celebrities. People have also started naming their favourite contestants, such as influencer Apoorva Mukhija; others have compared it to the multiplayer online game 'Among Us'. Johar's post has garnered over 23,000 likes in five hours, and has 21,700 reshares so far. The Traitors The treachery and trickery will unfold at Suryagarh Palace in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan. The show will stream on Amazon Prime Video starting 12 June, with new episodes every Thursday at 8 pm. The three-minute trailer also features Telugu actress Lakshmi Manchu, and television stars Jannat Zubair, Jasmin Bhasin, and Karan Kundrra. All the contestants have a spicy backstory. Mukhija's remarks on Samay Raina's YouTube show India's Got Latent with podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia triggered social media outrage and led to multiple FIRs. Uorfi Javed is known for her daring costumes and her own reality TV show, Follow Kar Lo Yaar (2024). The Traitors will also feature fashion commentator Sufi Motiwala, who is represented by Karan Johar's Dharma Cornerstone Agency (DCA). They all have a single objective: to win the Rs 1 crore prize money after completing a series of physical and psychological missions. Players marked 'innocents' must find and eliminate the 'traitors' from among them, who will be secretly chosen at the beginning of the show by host Karan Johar. The reality show is based on the Dutch series De Verraders (2021), which has iterations in 30 countries. The American version is hosted by Alan Cumming and the British version by Claudia Winkleman. Game of trust, deception In the trailer, Karan Johar is dressed head-to-toe in a black, magician-like ensemble. Viewers are privy to snatches of contestants trying to figure out who the traitors are. In the clip, Uorfi Javed vows to shave her head if found to be a 'traitor', while rapper Raftaar, also a contestant on the show, says that he will 'stop rapping'. 'Yaha trust is rare, but dhoka everywhere (Trust is rare here, but deception is everywhere),' declares Johar. Some people, however, have criticised the Bollywood filmmaker for taking up the project. 'You'll do anything at this point to avoid directing a movie…who are you Riri? Wrote one Instagram user. Another one expressed disappointment at the content itself: 'Indians are fed up of seeing content like this! With the likes of Karan Johar and others! Same thing, old wine, new bottle. Have some mercy on us and give us good content.' (Edited by Zoya Bhatti)

Signs That You Are a Hardcore Gamer

Although watching Marvel movies and TV shows is a popular choice for so many people, gaming is ahead of them both for many others. Of course, they can also be enjoyed alongside each other, making for a perfect day's worth of entertainment for millions of people. But how do you know if you're a diehard gamer compared to the rest, though? What are the signs? Well, while most gamers are passionate about the products they play, diehard gamers take it to a whole new level. Gaming is essentially their life, demonstrating a strong commitment to it and enjoying the array of high-quality games that are currently out there. From Mario Kart Tour and Elden Ring, to online roulette and Among Us, the options are extensive in the modern environment as gaming's overall package continues to evolve. If you're wondering whether or not you're one of the more dedicated players out there, though, then below we take a look at some of the signs that could make you a diehard gamer. Always gaming First and foremost, diehard gamers are always playing games. Sure, other entertainment options stand out at times, but gaming will always be their main preference. Spending a significant amount of time exploring vast worlds and conquering various levels, diehard gamers often play games multiple times a day. Without their beloved products, their days just wouldn't be the same. Marathon sessions Diehard gamers also only take part in marathon gaming sessions. Short bursts of gaming-related fun aren't on the agenda. Instead, avid gamers dedicate hours and hours to their favorite titles and simply never get bored of going through their collection of releases. Deep knowledge Diehard gamers also know anything and everything about this alluring category of entertainment. They're your go-to person for gaming-related news and game recommendations, while they also pay attention to lore, various characters, and even a variety of game mechanics. Essentially, if you're about to enter a gaming-themed quiz, then you'll want them on your team due to their extensive knowledge. Love all things gaming Alongside playing games on a regular basis and knowing everything about them, diehard gamers also explore other gaming-related interests, be it through purchasing merchandise or attending games conventions. They also tend to soak up the vast amount of material out there that is solely dedicated to gaming, be it podcasts, books, YouTube channels, and even Spotify playlists. Essentially, these gamers have so many gaming-related interests. Withdrawal symptoms Another classic sign of a diehard gamer is the potential for them to experience withdrawal symptoms when they aren't in front of a challenging boss or conversing with their clan via a headset. Likewise, when they aren't gaming, or their gaming marathons are interrupted, they aren't happy about it either. After all, gaming is life, and if you get in the way of it, you'll certainly know all about it. Obsessed with development Where some gamers accept the level they're at and just want to enjoy playing games no matter the level, diehard gamers are continually looking to develop their skill level as they attempt to mix it with the very best online players. Improving their skills and techniques is paramount, especially as they have leaderboards to top and cocky friends to silence. Socializing Diehard gamers are also open to conversing with like-minded players and forming connections as a result. While they might eventually become likeable rivals in a specific title, they're always wanting to discuss the latest releases with their gaming buddies and enjoying gaming's social aspect. Diehard gamers also attend events, they go to game launches, and they might even find love through a particular release. Book Review: THE INCANDESCENT RELATED: Book Review: When Among Crows

Boy, 6, dies after stepdad allegedly allows girl, 10, to move his pickup - and she crashes it into their house

A six-year-old boy was killed when his stepdad allegedly allowed a 10-year-old to move his pickup in the driveway. The girl was given the keys to the Nissan Titan but crashed it into their house, destroying the porch and killing little Kash Riley Yeater. The tragedy unfolded early on Sunday in Lufkin, Texas, as Clinton Earl Johnson Jr, 31, was grilling a midnight feast of chicken. According to police statements, the 10-year-old girl had complained that the truck was in the way as she tried to ride her tricycle. Johnson told the girl to 'scoot it up' and gave her the keys, according to the statement that Paiton Rose, Kash's mother, made to police. Johnson told police the girl had previously driven the truck several times on backroads. But Rose, 27, said the girl 'got confused and got on the gas, causing the accident' when she plowed through the porch, sending chairs and debris flying. Kash was sitting on the porch playing with Rose's phone, unaware of the 2.9 tons of metal accelerating towards him until it was too late. Angelina County Sheriff's deputies arrived about 1am to find Kash lying on his back in front of the Titan on what remained of the porch. He was taken to hospital but later succumbed to his injuries. The identity of the girl is unconfirmed, but a family friend wrote online: 'He didn't want that to happen neither did that baby's momma nor that baby's sister.' Johnson has an 11-year-old daughter from a previous relationship who frequently visits the family and whom they refer to as Kash's sister. Deputies saw the barbecue, still with chicken sizzling on it, and the tricycle next to the pickup, and poles and pieces of wood nearby. They alleged in their report that they smelled alcohol on Johnson and Rose's breath, and the couple both admitted to having had three or four drinks while grilling. Johnson was arrested on Tuesday and released from the Angelina County Jail the next day on $3,000 bail, charged with felony criminally negligent homicide. Kash's obituary identified his father as Ian Yeater and listed Johnson as his 'bonus dad' and Yeater's new partner as his 'bonus mom.' 'Kash "Money" was a very happy child who always had a smile on his face,' the obituary read. 'He didn't believe in Santa but he lived up to his name Kash "Money" by still believing in the tooth fairy because of the money under his pillow. 'He loved spooky things, but he was still afraid of the dark and had to have a light on. His best buddy was his brother... whom he loved dearly. 'Kash also loved his baby brother... he was the only one that could calm him down. 'He was a gamer boy and loved his video games (especially Among Us and Sonic). 'He enjoyed swimming, school, fishing and four wheelers. Kash had a very kind heart and loved to give and receive hugs.' Johnson and Rose were married in September 2023, and had their own son the following August. She had gushed previously online about Johnson and what a good stepfather he was to her two sons. Kash will be buried at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Lufkin on Saturday.

How computer code like Python, Lua and C-sharp is used to create online and video games

Ever wondered how games like Brookhaven or Among Us hook millions of teens worldwide? Behind the laughter, suspense, and virtual worlds lies a universal language: code. But here's the twist—coding isn't about complexity. It's about breaking big ideas into tiny, clear instructions that even a computer can understand. Game-making isn't just for tech pros - anyone can jump in, even secondary students like you! Free tools like Unity, Python with Pygame, and Roblox Studio, used in classrooms everywhere, allow players to learn coding by building their own games. Let's check out how these work, peek at some hot games loved by many around the globe, and see how coding can turn ideas into epic adventures. Archiving old-school video games can help preserve Hong Kong culture, says founder of local retrogaming group Coding tells the game what to do Coding is like telling a computer what to do, and in games, it's how you make stuff happen. Imagine code as a conversation between the creator and the game. Every line is a simple command, like teaching a friend the rules of tag. These instructions define how the game works, like how players move and interact with objects. For instance, code might say: 'When someone touches this door, move them to the rooftop.' Another example could be: 'If players interact with an object, this teleports them to the last time they interact with it.' In many popular games, including those made in Roblox Studio, developers use a language called Lua to write these instructions. Another language used in games is C-sharp – this is used to create the popular game, Among Us, where players hunt for impostors. In the game, pressing the spacebar on your keyboard triggers an emergency meeting. The game checks: 'Did the player press the spacebar? If yes, start the meeting.' These aren't cryptic formulas; they're straightforward commands. Coding, at its core, is about precision: telling the game what to do, when to do it, and how. 'Among Us' was developed using C-sharp – or C# – coding language. Photo: Shutterstock Where can I make my own games? Roblox Studio, Pygame and Unity are platforms where you can create your own games as long as you write precise instructions. Unity is the platform that Among Us was built on. You can use Unity's tools to help you create games where you make the rules – for example, a thrilling treasure hunt game only ends once a player snags every coin. Pygame uses the programming language, Python. Imagine making a mini-game where characters face off. Using Pygame, you can draw shapes – like a triangle for a battle arena. Then, upload a character image and resize it to fit your arena. Then, give the computer clear steps: tell the computer to show your character and move it with arrow keys – then you've got a battle going! Source: PST Developers start small, like making a character dodge obstacles. Then, they keep adjusting and improving until the game is fun to play. When a game runs slowly, developers simplify their instructions to reduce strain on the game, or see if other adjustments are needed. For example, when Among Us glitches during a meeting, developers don't panic. Instead, they ask: 'Is the 'start meeting' command happening too soon? Let's add a delay.' Every bug is a puzzle, and every fix sharpens both the game and the coder's skills. Games aren't built in a day; they're crafted line by line and are fixed mistake by mistake. So grab Roblox Studio, Python or Unity, break your idea into bite-sized commands, and let the screen come alive. After all, every epic game begins with two words: 'What if …?' At PST, we make technology education accessible and fun for learners of all ages. Our mission is to ignite a passion for technology, empowering them to confidently navigate the digital landscape.
