(Reuters pic) PETALING JAYA : A man pleaded not guilty in the Ayer Keroh sessions court today to five charges of sexual assault, including carnal intercourse against the order of nature, against his friend's nine-year-old sister. On the first four charges, Ahmad Dzul Fiqar Ahmad Fardzil, 21, is accused of 'holding' the victim in a sexual manner at an apartment in Ayer Keroh, Melaka, between 10pm on May 31 and 1am the following day. He is also charged with committing carnal intercourse against the order of nature at the same place and time. Deputy public prosecutor Wardah Ishhar proposed bail of RM20,000 for each charge, and the additional conditions that Ahmad Dzul report to a police station once a month and does not disturb the victim. Kidnapped in Iran on way to Australia, three Punjab men rescued: Embassy
Three men from Punjab, who had left for Australia on the promise of jobs by travel agents but found themselves in Iran and were later 'kidnapped' there, have been rescued, the Embassy of India in Iran Wednesday said. 'The three kidnapped Indian citizens have been safely rescued & are now under the care of the Embassy of India, which is facilitating their early repatriation. We sincerely thank the Government of Iran for their swift and effective efforts in securing their release. Your support reflects the true spirit of friendship between our two nations,' the Embassy of India in Iran posted on X. Amritpal Singh (23) from Bhagowal village in Hoshiarpur, Husanpreet Singh (27) of Dhuri in Sangrur and Jaspal Singh (32) of Langroya in Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar — all in Punjab — were 'freed in a police operation against the hostage takers in Varamin in south Tehran,' Iran's Tasnim news agency reported Tuesday. All three had left for Australia in April with work visas after being promised lucrative jobs there by the travel agents back home in Punjab. They ended up in Iran where they were allegedly kidnapped by a network of travel agents from Pakistan who then demanded a ransom of Rs 18 lakh each for their release. The respective families received phone calls from the three men Tuesday evening, soon after the Iranian embassy in New Delhi, citing local media in Iran, said that the 'missing Indian citizens have been freed by Tehran police'. Husanpreet's cousin Manpreet Singh told the Indian Express that he received a call from an Iranian number at around 6 pm Tuesday. 'It was Husanpreet. He only said, 'We are safe now. Indian authorities have rescued us and we are now being taken to the embassy'. Before I could ask anything, the line went dead. Now, at least we know that he is alive,' said Manpreet.

Three Indian men, who went missing in Iran, rescued by Tehran police
Three young men from Punjab, who went missing in Iran in May this year, were found and released by Tehran police on Tuesday, the Iran Embassy in New Delhi said in an official statement. The three Indian men were travelling to Australia via Iran for a work opportunity when they went missing, the families had said earlier. The men have been identified as Amritpal Singh, 23, from Bhagowal Luda in Hoshiarpur; Jaspal Singh, from Langroya in Nawanshehar (Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar); and Husanpreet Singh, 27, from Sanagatpura in Dhuri, Sangrur. The kidnapping of the men was reported on May 1 when they arrived in Iran. The last time their families heard from them was between May 11 and 17, in which they were seen bloodied and pleading. They were untraceable since then. Ashok Kumar, the elder brother of Jaspal Singh, had told The Indian Express that the families had collectively paid over Rs 19 lakh to the agents. 'Jaspal was first taken to Dubai on April 1 and kept there for a month. Amritpal and Husanpreet also joined him in Dubai on April 25 after paying the full amount. They were then flown to Tehran in early May on separate flights,' he said.

3 Punjab men, who went missing in Iran, rescued
Three Indians who were abducted in Iran last month have been freed by Tehran police, authorities confirmed on Tuesday. The rescued men - Amritpal Singh from Hoshiarpur, Jaspal Singh from Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, and Hushanpreet Singh from Sangrur - had travelled to Iran on May 1 after being lured by a travel agency with promises of a safe route and job prospects in Australia. However, shortly after their arrival in Tehran, the trio were abducted and held captive by their traffickers, who then demanded ransom from their families back in India. The Iranian Embassy in India announced the rescue via a post on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), confirming the successful police operation in Varamin, a town south of Tehran. The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs' consular affairs department coordinated the efforts alongside local police. "Three missing Indian citizens freed by Tehran police," the Embassy posted. Indian authorities were alerted to the situation after the families of the abducted youths began receiving ransom calls. According to Jaspal Singh's brother Balwinder Singh, the abductors initially demanded ₹1 crore, later reducing it to ₹18 lakh. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) in India swiftly intervened, working with Iranian counterparts to trace and rescue the victims. MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said in a May 29 briefing, "We are in daily touch with Iranian authorities and extending all possible help to the families. We've received good cooperation from Iran." The Indian Embassy in Iran also issued a statement earlier, affirming its commitment to ensuring the men's safety and staying in regular contact with their families.

Three Indian men, who went missing in Iran, rescued
The three Indian nationals who had gone missing in Iran have been rescued, said the Iranian Embassy in New Delhi on Tuesday. 'Local media in Iran say police have found and released three Indian men who had gone missing in Iran,' the embassy said on X. The three men from Punjab, who were offered work and thought that they were travelling to Australia in April, had ended up in Iran instead and went missing. Their families had alleged that they were abducted by a network of agents from Pakistan, who demanded a ransom of Rs 18 lakh each. On May 28, the Indian Embassy in Tehran had said it had taken up the matter strongly with the Iranian authorities and requested that the missing men be traced urgently. The three men were Amritpal Singh from Hoshiarpur, Hushanpreet Singh from Sangrur, and Jaspal Singh from Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar. Jaspal's brother Ashok Kumar had said that he was taken to Dubai on April 1 and kept there for a month. When Amritpal and Hushanpreet also arrived in Dubai on April 25, all three of them were taken to Tehran on May 1, he had said. Kumar had added that the three men were then taken to a place where they were told to strip. 'They then made video calls to us and told us that they were kidnapped and were asked to transfer Rs 18 lakh each to bank accounts in Pakistan,' he had said. Amritpal's mother, Gurdip Kaur, had said in a police complaint that her son had been promised work in Australia by two travel agents named Dheeraj Atwal and his brother Kamal Atwal. The police alleged that the accused men took Rs 18 lakh from Amritpal and offered to arrange for him to travel to Australia via Iran through a ' donkey route ' – a long, roundabout journey designed to dodge border controls.
