VIJAYAWADA: The State Cabinet, in its meeting scheduled for Wednesday, will take up a draft bill to repeal the Non-Agricultural Lands Assessment (NALA) Act, which allows the conversion of agricultural land for non-agricultural purposes, according to Minister for Revenue Anagani Satya Prasad. The announcement was made following a Cabinet Sub-Committee meeting on revenue issues on Tuesday. The meeting was attended by Finance Minister Payyavula Keshav, Municipal Administration Minister P Narayana, Endowments Minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy, and Minority Welfare Minister NMD Farooq. Anagani recalled that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu had previously announced the repeal of the NALA Act during the third Collectors' Conference. He emphasised that the draft bill was meticulously prepared under the Chief Minister's directives and will be presented for Cabinet approval. The repeal aims to address concerns surrounding misuse of agricultural land conversions.

Guntur: Minister for Revenue Anagani Satya Prasad said that the registration department holds the distinction of having delivered 1.14 lakh documents via WhatsApp. He said that the coalition government is working hard to completely cleanse the revenue department, which was devastated during the past five years of YSRCP rule. He visited the Koritepadu Sub-Registrar Office here on Tuesday and reviewed the pilot project that delivers registered documents within an hour to the applicants. He appreciated the revenue staff for successfully completing the check slip, scanning, and e-KYC processes and delivering the documents in just 15 minutes and 30 seconds. He stated that along with Koritepadu, this pilot project is running successfully in three other sub-registrar offices as well. He said the registration process will be completed within an hour across the state, and the sale deed documents will be delivered immediately, he assured. He highlighted that since the coalition government came to power, 13 reforms have been introduced in the registration department. As part of promoting equality among citizens, red cloth podiums were removed. To eliminate long wait times, slot booking was introduced. Modern technology is being utilised through e-stamping, online appointment systems, and mobile applications. He said the fees for legal heir land certificates have been made nominal – only Rs 100 for properties valued up to Rs 10 lakh, and Rs 1,000 for properties worth more than that.

GUNTUR: In a significant development for the agriculture sector, Revenue Minister Anagani Satya Prasad inaugurated the newly constructed Velaturu Aqueduct across the Bhattiprolu Main Drain in the Krishna Western Delta region on Friday. The Rs 10.75 crore aqueduct replaces a decades-old collapsed structure that had disrupted irrigation in parts of the Vemuru and Repalle constituencies. Accompanied by Collector J Venkata Murali and Vemuru MLA Nakka Anand Babu, Minister Satya Prasad performed rituals at Velaturu channel before releasing Krishna River water through five sluice gates. Completed in 75 days, the aqueduct will irrigate 31,675 acres in the two constituencies. Satya Prasad credited Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu for promptly sanctioning funds when the issue was raised, saying the new structure would ensure farmers do not lose their kharif crops.

Visakhapatnam: The NDA government is planning to bring a special policy to resolve land related issues, informed Revenue Minister Anagani Satya Prasad. On Monday, the Minister received grievances from the public at the Public Grievance Redressal System (PGRS) by participating in the programme at the District Collector's office conference hall along with district collector MN Harendhira Prasad and joint collector K Mayur Ashok. Speaking to the media later, the Revenue Minister mentioned that the government will pay special attention to land grabbing in the state and ensure that justice is meted out to the victims. The minister said that the coalition government is moving forward with an aim at providing good governance. He observed that there are many land problems in Visakhapatnam and most of the complaints received in the PGRS are related to lands that were occupied or grabbed during the previous government. Further, the minister informed that the revenue department will ready a detailed report on the land grabbing that took place in Visakhapatnam. He said that a solution would also be worked out soon regarding the long-pending Simhachalam temple's pancha gramalu issue. Speaking about the development of the district, Anagani Satya Prasad emphasised that Visakhapatnam is going to be developed as an IT hub and gain a top place in the country in the coming days. The Revenue Minister reminded that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu already instructed that private lands should not be kept in 22A and the state government decided to lift the ban on 22A lands. The Revenue Minister, who personally received grievances from the public during the PGRS, opined that the redressal system is implemented effectively in Tirupati and Visakhapatnam districts. The minister stated that he participated in the programme to watch the mechanism adopted here. A similar system will be implemented in other places, he assured.

The government is keeping a close watch on those involved in land grabbing in the State, Minister for Revenue Anagani Satya Prasad said and warned that anyone who tries to rob people and grab lands will be severely punished as per the law. He was in the city on Monday to participate in the weekly grievance programme at the Collectorate as part of the government programme — Suparipalanalo Tholi Adugu (Initiative of Good Governance). He received complaints directly from the people and interacted with them at the programme. Later, speaking to media persons on the occasion, Mr. Prasad said that the State government is keeping a close watch on land grabbing issues, and will provide justice to the victims and punish the accused. He said that private lands should not be placed under 22 (A), but it happened during the previous government. The coalition government with Nara Chandrababu Naidu as the Chief Minister is giving utmost priority to the welfare of the people and also the development of the State, he added. 'Grievances related to land-related issues such as land grabbing, encroachments are high in Visakhapatnam and people are complaining about these issues in the weekly grievance redressal programme. We are preparing a detailed report on land grabbing and encroachments and will soon release this report to the public,' Mr. Satya Prasad said. He said that the government is taking all steps to resolve the long-pending land issue of Panchagramalu in Simhachalam, adding that he had also reminded Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu on this matter. He said that there is a lot of scope for development of Information Technology in Visakhapatnam. He said that the much-awaited Visakhapatnam Metro Rail project will also be fulfilled and work will start soon and steps are being taken to stop encroachments along the coast as per the guidelines of the Coastal Zone Management Board.
