City schools and colleges celebrate I-Day with patriotic fervour
Ranchi : Educational institutions across the city marked 79th Independence Day with great enthusiasm and patriotic zeal on Friday. The celebrations were filled with flag-hoisting ceremonies, cultural performances, and heartfelt speeches, all of which highlighted the values of freedom, unity, and national pride.
At Cambrian Public School in Kanke Road, the celebration featured a flag-hoisting by chief guest Anandamayi Singh. Principal Premlata Kumari emphasized that true freedom means liberation from ignorance, injustice, and poverty. Students presented cultural performances, including a judo and karate demonstration. An inter-house dance competition saw Ganga House take first place.
The school campus resonated with chants of Vande Mataram and Jai Hind at Jawahar Vidya Mandir, Shyamali.
Principal Samarjeet Jana hoisted the national flag, followed by a parade and salute from NCC, NSS, and other students.
Lala Lajpat Rai Bal Mandir Senior Secondary School, Pundag honored the sacrifices of freedom fighters. A parade and cultural programs, including speeches and a yoga presentation, were performed by students. Students of Sarala Birla School, paid tribute to freedom fighters through a cultural program featuring songs and dances in various languages, including Odia, Bangla, and Gujarati.
Performances at Surendranath Centenary School included speeches, patriotic songs, and a skit titled "Viksit Bharat Unnat Bharat." Principal Samita Sinha spoke about the importance of patriotism and unity. At Delhi Public School (DPS), the highlight was a skit by nursery students on "Freedom is about playing our responsibilities." The celebration concluded with a message from the principal on guiding the next generation with determination and integrity.
Govt schools across the district marked the occasion with Tiranga rallies, cultural programmes, and speeches on the significance of freedom.
Markets and streets in Ranchi were decked in saffron, white, and green, with citizens carrying flags and children sporting tricolour badges. The day concluded with community gatherings, patriotic songs, and a reaffirmation of the city's resolve to contribute to a progressive and inclusive India.
