London Spirit investor unhappy on key players missing the Hundred opener due to IND vs ENG series: ‘Many people invested hundreds of millions of pounds'

The recently concluded Anderson-Tendulkar trophy has been compared to one of the greatest Test series in the modern era, which is the 2005 Ashes. While the taste of some tasty Test cricket was still on the taste buds among the English fans, the Hundred tournament started just 24 hours after. In the season opener London Spirit took on the Oval Invincibles. The former were soundly thrashed by the latter. The Spirits missed their key players in Ollie Pope, Jamie Smith, and Jamie Overton, who were all part of the final Test. One of the investors in the Spirit team, Nikesh Arora, pointed out that because of the amounts that are being invested, it is important to make a better schedule so that the marquee players are available. 'I just think that in future we have to make sure it's timed in such a way that if you're only going to have a 26-day tournament where many people invested hundreds of millions of pounds, it's only fair that we create enough space so all the right people can play,' Arora said, speaking to The Telegraph. 'Some of the guys were required to rest until a few days after the first match which is kind of disappointing,' he said. 'I understand it. I think for the future it requires better planning. I would never want a sportsperson to be extended because we want them to play well for a very long period of time. They've just come out of a spectacular series, made even more spectacular by the ending. I'm still smiling from it,' he added. While the other investor in Spirit, Satyan Gajwani, said there is going to be a bit of friction between both the Test matches and the Hundred, he reassured that it is good for the game and that it will serve different audiences. 'We also saw that with the IPL in its first five years. Any new format is going to have tension, and there's going to be tension between Tests and the Hundred. But I think overall, it's good for the game. I think it attracts different audiences. It widens the scope of fans that could be interested in cricket.'

Ajinkya Rahane on Jasprit Bumrah opting to play three Tests in IND vs ENG Test series: ‘He has the courage to tell the captain and management…'

Jasprit Bumrah played only three Tests in the recently concluded Anderson-Tendulkar trophy, which ended up in a 2-2 draw. With the side lacking a bit of experience, there were mixed opinions when Bumrah, even before the series, said he was going to play only three Tests out of the five matches in the series. Indian cricketer Ajinkya Rahane praised the clarity of Bumrah and his willingness to put the team's needs ahead of his. 'What I liked about the Bumrah situation was that he was pretty clear; he knew what he wanted to do before the series. He said, 'I'll play the first one, I won't play the second one, and then I'll play the third'. Great clarity for a captain. It shows that he has the courage to tell the captain and management to be really clear,' said Rahane on his YouTube channel. 'It also shows that he is keeping the team ahead of himself. Sometimes it is not easy to do so when you are playing for India. As a player, when you are representing India, it's not easy. Sometimes players convey the same message to the team, and then they get dropped,' he added. 'It just shows that he wanted the team to be well prepared even when he wasn't playing. Because of his unique action, there is a lot of load on his body. If you want Bumrah to play all five Tests, then use him in smaller spells like 3 overs or 4 overs,' said Rahane. 'I think England were wary of Bumrah when he was playing; 'Bazball' didn't come out to the full extent. When Bumrah wasn't there, they played a little freely. It is important to use him properly; you have to give him the luxury to get the best out of him,' he added. In Mohammed Shami's absence, and with Mohammed Siraj's form being inconsistent in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy earlier in the year, the Indian pace attack against the Bazballers did look short of cutting edge ahead of the series. However, as the series went on, the tide turned, Siraj upped his game, and the likes of Akash Deep and Prasidh Krishna showed their mettle when the pressure was put on them.

Big Surprise As ICC Reveals Pitch Ratings For India vs England Test Series

The Anderson-Tendulkar trophy turned out to be one of the most closely fought series ever to be played. With all matches going to 5 days, the series was eventually drawn 2-2, with India winning the final match by 6 runs at the Kennington Oval in London. The series produced incredible contests between the bat and the ball, where the batters enjoyed an advantage in the first few days and the bowlers gained more significance as the game progressed. The pitches prepared for the series, hence, also drew plenty of plaudits. But as far as ICC's ratings for the pitches are concerned, the verdict isn't the most pleasant. Ratings for 4 of the 5 matches are out, with only the Headingly pitch (first Test) getting a very good rating. All the other pitches were rated 'satisfactory' by the apex board. 1st Test - Headingley, Leeds Pitch Rating: Very Good | Outfield Rating: Very Good 2nd Test - Edgbaston, Birmingham Pitch Rating: Satisfactory | Outfield Rating: Very Good 3rd Test - Lord's, London Pitch Rating: Satisfactory | Outfield Rating: Very Good 4th Test - Old Trafford, Manchester Pitch Rating: Satisfactory | Outfield Rating: Very Good The ratings for the 5th and final Test at the Kennington Oval are yet to be confirmed. A 2-2 scoreline feels fair, but somehow, it hardly captures the scale of what an emotional roller-coaster ride. This was a series built on heroic performances, relentless drama, players pushing past extreme pain, and moments so emotional that they have left an imprint on everyone who lived through it - on and off the field. 'It has been that kind of a series, hasn't it? It's like, it took a lot out of you, but then once it's over, you're like 'geez, it's over'. How many Test series go all the way to day five of every Test match? So it's like all five Test matches going down to the wire on all five days says a lot about the quality of cricket played,' said Deep Dasgupta, former India wicketkeeper, said.

He Has Ability To Rattle The Opposition...: Sachin Tendulkars Special Praise For THIS Indian Star After His Heroics In England

Legendary Sachin Tendulkar lavished praise on veteran India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja for his impressive performance in the recently concluded 2025 Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy against England. As per Tendulkar, Jadeja is the one player who manages to rattle the opposition. During the series against England, ICC No.1 Ranked Test all-rounder Jadeja scored 516 runs at an average of 85 while batting exclusively at No. 6 or lower down the order, making him the first Indian to score over 500 runs in a Test series at these positions. Apart from his runs, Jadeja also took seven wickets, including a four-wicket haul in the fourth Test at Manchester. "He (Jadeja) has the ability to rattle the opposition either through his fielding or batting or bowling and can make something happen in every match. He has an organized gameplay, knows what to play when and uses his experience brilliantly," said Tendulkar in a video interaction on Reddit. "He is right up there as my crucial player in the series, was amazing with the bat throughout. Simple game, great results," he added. The former India batter was also in awe of Washington Sundar's ability to switch gears and his contribution towards the team whenever he was given the chance. "The series was alive when he was getting his maiden Test century and it was fine that they (Sundar and Jadeja) continued to bat. They didn't come in to bat thinking they will score hundreds, they came in to bat with the mindset of drawing the Test. Bowling (Harry) Brook wasn't his (Sundar's) fault and he didn't face Brook when he started to bat," said Tendulkar. "They also had to tire out England players going into the last match since the series didn't have a result yet. In the last Test, he accelerated, giving India crucial runs to defend. So he knows when to bat slowly and when to accelerate, not to forget his wicket-taking abilities during vital moments," he added. After the Anderson-Tendulkar trophy in England, India will next play Test cricket against West Indies in October, followed by a two-Test series against South Africa in November.

Robin Uthappas Key Advice To Boost Kuldeep Yadavs Test Chances; Here's What Left-Arm Spinner Should Do

Former India cricketer Robin Uthappa has offered valuable advice to left arm spinner Kuldeep Yadav on how he can become a regular in India playing XI in Test cricket. Kuldeep, who his Test debut against Australia at Dharamsala in 2017, an impressive bowling record (56 wickets in red ball format. He has picked 56 wickets in 13 Tests with an average of 22.16 so far. However, he has struggled to find a place in Indian Playing XI on regular basis. The Indian team management has preferred spin all-rounders R Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, and Axar Patel in the home conditions, keeping Kuldeep out. On the other, Indian setup pick a fast-bowling all-rounder on foreign tour. The 30-year-old Kuldeep was part of the India's squad in the recently concluded England tour but he didn't feature in any of the five matches as Gautam Gambhir and Shubman Gill-led management preferred Washington Sundar and Jadeja in the XI. Former India batter Robin Uthappa feels that Kuldeep should take inspiration from Ashwin and work on his batting as it help him in getting picked in Indian playing XI on a regular basis in Test cricket. "Put Kuldeep in the 11 and make sure your batting is still in a state where none of the fans will go after the team management or the captain. With all due respect to Kuldeep's prowess with the ball, he's got limitations to his batting. That's going to take a lot of effort from his side," Uthappa said on his YouTube channel. "Ashwin has got five or six Test hundreds. If Kuldeep can do that at number eight or nine, then he will certainly play more Tests," he added. The 39-year-old Uthappa also spoke about Shubman's captaincy in this England Test series. Notably, who was leading for the first time in Test cricket on England tour, scored a staggering 754 runs at an average of 75.40 in five matches. "We've seen Shubman's captaincy in this series, good at times and passive at others. Tactically, he will grow. As a leader, he is coming into his own since leading Gujarat Titans," he said. After the Anderson-Tendulkar trophy in England, India will next play Test cricket against West Indies in October, followed by a two-Test series against South Africa in November.
