London Spirit investor unhappy on key players missing the Hundred opener due to IND vs ENG series: ‘Many people invested hundreds of millions of pounds'
One of the investors in the Spirit team, Nikesh Arora, pointed out that because of the amounts that are being invested, it is important to make a better schedule so that the marquee players are available. 'I just think that in future we have to make sure it's timed in such a way that if you're only going to have a 26-day tournament where many people invested hundreds of millions of pounds, it's only fair that we create enough space so all the right people can play,' Arora said, speaking to The Telegraph.
'Some of the guys were required to rest until a few days after the first match which is kind of disappointing,' he said. 'I understand it. I think for the future it requires better planning. I would never want a sportsperson to be extended because we want them to play well for a very long period of time. They've just come out of a spectacular series, made even more spectacular by the ending. I'm still smiling from it,' he added.
While the other investor in Spirit, Satyan Gajwani, said there is going to be a bit of friction between both the Test matches and the Hundred, he reassured that it is good for the game and that it will serve different audiences. 'We also saw that with the IPL in its first five years. Any new format is going to have tension, and there's going to be tension between Tests and the Hundred. But I think overall, it's good for the game. I think it attracts different audiences. It widens the scope of fans that could be interested in cricket.'

Former New Zealand all-rounder Craig McMillan, the current assistant coach of the New Zealand women's cricket team, said that the focus of the 10-player group currently training at the CSK High Performance Centre (HPC) is on batting effectively versus spin bowling, as scoring runs against spinners will be the key in the upcoming women's World Cup (Sep. 30 to Nov. 2) in India and Sri Lanka. 'We've brought ten players over with the focus being on playing spin bowling, because that's going to be a major emphasis during the World Cup. It's an opportunity to try and upskill the girls as quickly as we can,' he said at the CSK HPC ground on Saturday. Five of the ten players - Brooke Halliday, Jess Kerr, Georgia Plimmer, Maddy Green, and Isabella Gaze - played against India in the three-match ODI series in Ahmedabad in October. On New Zealand's chances of winning the World Cup, he said: 'It's going to be a tough World Cup. There are a number of good teams. India, obviously, will go in as favourites with the team they have and their performance in England recently. Mohamed Salah on his record valuation for new Fantasy Premier League season: ‘Put the strikers the highest!'
It's that time of the football season. Ahead of a new Premier League campaign, fans around the world would be furiously selecting, un-selecting, re-selecting their virtual squads in a game that has become almost synonymous with the English top flight. The Fantasy Premier League (FPL) is as much a part of following the Premier League these days as it is to be a fan of a particular club. And Mohamed Salah, the game's record-breaking point-scorer, had a request for the powers that be. Salah (£14.5m) and Erling Haaland (£14.0m) are the two most expensive players in 2025/26 FPL, where hundreds of thousands of Premier League fans compete in mini-leagues by selecting players with a virtual budget of £100.0 million. But he wanted it to be lower. 'First of all I want you guys to put my price down so everybody can have me in the team. I said that… before, I'm telling you in a video. Put my price down and that's it. Now I am the highest. No! Put the strikers the highest. (Erling) Haaland should be the highest. (Alexander) Isak should be the highest. So not a winger has to be the highest.' Salah's price in the game is the highest-ever opening cost for a midfielder in FPL, the previous record was held at £14.0m by former Manchester United superstar Cristiano Ronaldo in 2008/09. 'Why they should pick me? I give them good points, guaranteed points,' he added. He has joked about it in the past as well. 'It's too expensive for everyone to buy me,' he had noted last season. In a January video, he quipped: 'Please don't put my price up, keep (Erling) Haaland more expensive.' The Egyptian was in the middle of another extraordinary season for Liverpool while Haaland didn't quite live up to his high standards as Manchester City had their worst season under Pep Guardiola.
