Farmers, workers to stage protest in Vijayawada on August 13 against U.S. tariffs, ‘anti-farmer' policies
Farmers, workers, and people's organisations have called for a protest at Dharna Chowk here on August 13, demanding that the United States withdraw the 50% tariffs imposed by President Donald Trump on Indian exports. They urged the Central Government not to bow to American pressure and to safeguard the interests of Indian farmers and workers. The call was given at a meeting held here on Sunday, attended by trade union leaders Mooli Sambasiva Rao and N.C.H. Srinivas, Andhra Pradesh Tenant Farmers Association State general secretary P. Jamalayya, Rythu Sangham State vice-president Malneedi Yellamandar Rao, Rythu Sangham district secretary P.V. Anjaneyulu, and trade union leaders A.V.R., K.R. Anjaneyulu, Kasani Ganesh Babu, V. Lakshmana Rao, K. Basavayya, and V. Lakshminarayana, among others. Speakers criticised the BJP-led Central Government for introducing policies 'more dangerous than the now-repealed three farm laws.' They alleged that amendments to the Agricultural Market Act were designed to serve the interests of foreign and domestic corporate exporters and importers, warning that such measures would ultimately dismantle the Minimum Support Price (MSP) system and end government procurement, dealing a severe blow to farmers. They also accused the government of scrapping the Price Stabilisation Fund in this year's budget, slashing subsidies on fertilizers and farm equipment, and banning tractors over 10 years old — all of which, they said, would increase the burden on farmers. On the international trade front, the leaders alleged that ever since Mr. Donald Trump returned to power, he had been pressuring India to sign a Free Trade Agreement while simultaneously imposing 50% tariffs on Indian exports. 'While Mr. Trump threatens, our Prime Minister remains silent — this is dangerous,' they said. The protest organisers demanded that the Free Trade Agreement talks be abandoned, the new market laws harmful to farmers be repealed, the 50% tariffs be withdrawn, and the four labour codes detrimental to workers be scrapped. They said the demonstration is part of a nationwide agitation called by the Samyukta Kisan Morcha under the slogan 'Quit Corporate' and urged farmers, tenant farmers, workers, agricultural labourers, students, youth, women, and the general public to participate in large numbers to make the event a success.

Provide clarity and announce proper guidelines on Annadata Sukhibhava scheme: A.P. Tenant Farmers Association
The Andhra Pradesh Tenant Farmers Association has demanded that the State government provide clarity and announce proper guidelines regarding the Annadata Sukhibhava scheme. The association secretary Maganti Haribabu and others, in a statement on Wednesday, expressed concern that during the recent Cabinet meeting, the government did not issue a clear statement on the implementation of the scheme. According to some media reports, the State seems to be waiting for funds from the Central government before initiating the scheme. Currently, the Central government provides ₹6,000 in three instalments under the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi to land-owning farmers. However, tenant farmers are excluded from that benefit, the reports said. In the recent budget session, the Agriculture Minister had announced in both the Legislative Assembly and the Council that the government would amend the Tenant Farming Act and provide the Annadata Sukhibhava benefit to all tenant farmers. However, now with the agricultural season approaching and no announcement of operational guidelines, several doubts have arisen. There are doubts whether the benefits will be extended to all tenant farmers or only to SC, ST, and BC categories like the previous government did, leaving out the OC category. If multiple tenants cultivate under a single landowner, will all of them receive the benefit or only one, remains another. These are some of the unresolved issues. Therefore, the government must immediately issue clear guidelines regarding the Annadata Sukhibhava scheme. As the agricultural season begins, ₹20,000 should be credited in one instalment into the bank accounts of all tenant farmers in the State to help them with investment needs. Delays may force tenant farmers into the clutches of private moneylenders, leading to severe losses. Hence, the State government should recognise tenant farmers through 'gram sabhas' (village assemblies) without insisting on landowner consent. Every identified tenant farmer should receive the Annadata Sukhibhava benefit, the association added

Tenant farmers demand CCR cards
Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh Tenant Farmers Association (APTFA) on Wednesday demanded the State government to issue the Crop cultivators Rights Cards (CCRC) to all 32 lakh tenant farmers in the State. The Association leaders said the NDA Coalition government is following in the footsteps of the YSRCP government and neglecting the rights and welfare of the tenant farmers. Association State president Y Radhakrishna and general secretary M Haribabu in a press release said the coalition government seems to sanction only 10 lakh CCRC cards to the tenant farmers. They said the government data revealed that only 450 tenant farmers so far got the CCRC cards against the 70,500 tenant farmers cultivating the lands in Krishna district and it shows the grim reality of tenant farmers. They recalled the TDP and JSP leaders had opposed the policies of the YSRCP government on tenant farmers and assured the tenant farmers that their problems would be solved if they voted to power. Radhakrishna and Haribabu demanded the government to announce their policy very clearly on the tenant farmers and issuing of CCRC cards to all tenant farmers in the state. They said some officials are asking the tenant farmers to get the Aadhar card of the landowner, Pattadar pass book, bank pass book and other documents to issue the Crop Cultivators Rights Cards to the tenant farmers. They said OC tenant farmers are not getting government assistance due to lack of CCRC. They recalled the TDP leaders have assured that all tenant farmers would get the CCRC cards if they voted to power in and even in the Assembly also they spoke to resolve the problems being faced by the tenant farmers in the state but so far, their problems are remain unresolved.
