Mel Gibson takes on role of a lifetime: Hollywood's envoy to Italy
The Hollywood star Mel Gibson is to lure Italian film productions to the US as his first task as one of President Trump's 'special ambassadors' for Tinseltown. Gibson, 69, a Trump supporter, is in talks with an Italian producer to ensure more Italian films get made in the US, boosting American jobs and reversing an exodus of productions overseas. The proposed plan calls for Italian producers to be 'incentivised to make Italian films in the USA, involving American stars and therefore investing in the US', Andrea Iervolino, the Italian producer, said. The plan will be a 'pilot project for the development of similar treaties between the USA and all other countries around the world', and could generate $10 billion in investment in the US, Iervolino

Al Pacino and Katie Holmes to Star in Mob Drama CAPTIVATED Based on Getty Kidnapping; Set to Shoot in Rome — GeekTyrant
Al Pacino and Katie Holmes are set to star in the mob drama, Captivated , that seeks to provide a different take on the kidnapping of John Paul Getty III than Ridley Scott's All the Money in the World . The long-gestating film is set to start shooting in Rome later this month. Italian producer Andrea Iervolino has boarded the project. Captivated is being directed by Dito Montiel ( A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints , Riff Raff ), tells the story of the 1973 kidnapping of Getty III and the unexpected bond between Calabrian mafia boss Saro Mammoliti (to be played by Pacino in his older version) and Gail Getty, mother of Getty III, to be played by Holmes. They are 'two souls from completely different worlds, drawn together by a tragedy that will forever change their lives,' says the provided synopsis. 'Amid psychological tension and subtle desire, theirs is a seductive game of chess that adds a crucial layer to the mystery of the Getty kidnapping.' Toby Kebbell — who had been announced for the role of the younger Mammoliti — has dropped out, according to a rep for Iervolino.
