The actor, 85, met with Pope Leo along with Italian film producer Andrea Iervolino at the Vatican on Monday, June 16. Pacino and Iervolino are currently working on an upcoming movie titled Maserati: The Brothers.
"It was a really exciting meeting for me, and I was very excited for Pacino as well," Iervolino tells PEOPLE. "We presented the Pope with a Maserati model because the film I'm shooting with Pacino is a tribute to the Pope. The Maserati film tells its story through history and speaks about the same messages he promotes daily: unity, family, peace and so on."
According to Iervolino, this is the first Pope whom Pacino has met. "He was very excited and very happy to meet the Pope," he says, noting that while Leo did not say anything "specific" to Pacino, the pontiff "blessed our film."
"Pacino was very excited and gave the Pope a hat from his hometown team. He also gave him his book," he adds.
The Hollywood Reporter first reported that Pacino was joining the cast of Maserati: The Brothers in May, with the movie reportedly eyeing a debut in the fall. Pacino will portray businessman Vincenzo Vaccaro, an early investor in the Maserati vehicle business. Anthony Hopkins, Andy Garcia, Jessica Alba, Michele Morrone and Salvatore Esposito will also star in the movie.
In a statement Iervolino shared with Deadline June 16, the film producer described the meeting as a "profound spiritual and cultural inspiration, centered around shared values that lie at the heart of both the Catholic Church and the film: family unity, love, compassion, and the importance of contributing to the common good."

Millie Bobby Brown adopts baby girl with husband Jake Bongiovi: 'And then there were 3'

The 'Stranger Things' actress is 21, and her husband is 23. Millie Bobby Brown is a mom. The Stranger Things actress, 21, and her husband Jake Bongiovi, 23, announced via an Instagram post that they adopted a baby girl. 'This summer, we welcomed our sweet baby girl through adoption. We are beyond excited to embark on this beautiful next chapter of parenthood in both peace and privacy,' Brown wrote on Instagram. She concluded the post with, 'And then there were 3.' Brown, who will star in the final season of Stranger Things when it drops on Netflix beginning Nov. 26, married Bongiovi — son of singer Jon Bon Jovi — in May 2024 in a private ceremony before having a bigger reception in Italy months later. In a March 2025 episode of the SmartLess podcast with Jason Bateman, Will Arnett and Sean Hayes, she spoke about wanting children. "I'm still really young, but my mom actually had her first child at 21, and my dad was 19, and you know, it's been my thing since before I met Jake," she said at the time. She added, 'I wanted to be a mom just like the way my mom was to me and ... my grandmother is — she was a huge part of my life.' Brown also spoke about adopting a child on the podcast, though she did not say she had any immediate plans. "I don't see having your own child, you know, as really any different as in adopting," she explained. "For me, like, my home is full of love for anyone and anything, and so that is what we stand by, Jake and I — our energy in the house is like, 'The door is always open.'" Though we don't know any specific details about Brown and Bongiovi's adoption, they are on the young side for adopting a child. According to the National Council for Adoption, parents who chose infant adoption averaged 35 years old, with 94% married at the time of adoption, and generally had the highest levels of education and household income. Daniel Day-Lewis Returns to The Screen in Intense First Trailer for ANEMONE With Sean Bean — GeekTyrant

Focus Features has dropped a gripping trailer for Anemone , marking the highly anticipated return of Daniel Day-Lewis to acting after a seven-year absence. The three-time Oscar winner hasn't been seen on screen since Phantom Thread in 2017, and now he's back with what looks like another emotionally heavy and potentially award-worthy performance. Anemone is a personal project for Day-Lewis. Not only does he star in it, but the film is also the directorial debut of his son, Ronan Day-Lewis, who co-wrote the script with his father. Produced by Brad Pitt's Plan B, the film dives into the turbulent emotional territory of family trauma and unresolved pain, centering on the complex relationships between brothers, fathers, and sons. While the plot remains deliberately vague, the trailer sets the mood with a moody, rain-soaked atmosphere as Day-Lewis's character, Ray Stoker, isolates himself deep in a wooded landscape haunted by memories. The story unfolds primarily through raw and intense conversations between Ray and a mysterious man played by Sean Bean. 'All these years, the isolation. This is it. This is my life,' Day-Lewis says in the trailer, immediately setting the somber tone. Bean's character responds, 'I've seen my share of lost souls.' There are cryptic references to their pasts, including one of the trailer's most haunting lines from Day-Lewis: 'The army teaches you to grin and bear it. The war was the crime and we were the phantom soldiers.' Bean presses for answers: 'I can't help you till you tell me what happened.' Day-Lewis replies sharply, 'Is that a question? What do you want from me, brother? What do you want?' The tension peaks with Bean warning, 'You're going to hell, brother,' to which Day-Lewis delivers a chilling response: 'Family reunion.' This project marks an unexpected return for Day-Lewis, who had previously announced his retirement from acting in 2017. At the time, his publicist stated, 'Daniel Day-Lewis will no longer be working as an actor. He is immensely grateful to all of his collaborators and audiences over the many years.' Whether this father-son collaboration has reignited his passion for film remains to be seen, but Anemone is already shaping up to be one of the most talked-about dramas of the year. The cast also includes Samuel Bottomley, Safia Oakley-Green, and Samantha Morton. Anemone opens in limited release on October 3 before expanding on October 10.
