Jade Thirlwall shares 'personal struggles' to crowd at Radio 1's Big Weekend
Former Little Mix singer Jade Thirlwall is closing out the Radio 1 Big Weekender for the first time as a solo artist just months after winning a BRIT Award BBC Radio 1's Big Weekend has welcomed BRIT-Award winner Jade Thirlwall to the stage - and the former Little Mix singer admitted to having 'personal struggles' as she addressed the crowds. Over the course of the weekend, some of the biggest names descended on Sefton Park, including Tom Grennan, Sam Fender, Natasha Bedingfield, and Mumford and Sons. Jade, 32, is closing out the festival with her hits including Angel Of My Dreams and IT Girl. After taking to the stage, fans took to X to gush about the singer as they said: "Jade is the biggest icon to ever exist." Another echoed: "The amount of talent that Jade has is literally unmatched." A source at the event said: 'Jade was blown away by how many people packed into the tent. She was a member of the biggest girl band from the UK after the Spice Girls and Girls Aloud but as her first solo show, she told the crowd it was an 'insane crowd' and she couldn't believe it. "She thanked the crowd, and herself but not swearing. She told fans that Angel Of My Dreams came after she was struggling". It comes after Jade announced the release of her debut solo album, which marks one of the biggest milestones in her personal career since her former band Little Mix went on hiatus. Earlier this month, the singer took to Instagram to share the news with fans, posting: "THAT'S SHOWBIZ BABY! My debut album out 12th September." The announcement was accompanied by a striking image of what appears to be her album artwork, which features Jade in four different outfits and poses. This career move comes after Jade has already spent a decade in the spotlight after rising to fame as part of Little Mix, the four-member girl group that was formed on The X Factor in 2011. The band went on to become one of the UK's most successful girl groups, clinching number one singles, Brit Awards, and touring internationally. After the band went on hiatus in May 2022, Jade kicked off her career as a solo artist. She has been extremely successful on her own and already has a Brit Award and a place at Glastonbury under her belt. The news of her first solo album was met with excitement from fans. One wrote: "Bring it on I can't wait!" Meanwhile, another gushed: "EVERYBODY MOVE SHE'S SAVING THE MUSIC INDUSTRY." The artist has teased that her debut record will feature A-list artists such as RAYE, Lostboy, and Pablo Bowman. Jade will also kick off her first UK and Ireland tour in October. She told fans: "This album has been years in the making, so I'm beyond excited that I can finally let everyone know when it's coming out. I'm very proud of 'THAT'S SHOWBIZ BABY!' as a body of work and can't wait to share it with the world. To be able to perform the album live later this year is also a dream come true. See you all on tour!" Although she has received support from music aficionados who are delighted by her new music, Jade has recently spoken about the more challenging aspects of being in the public eye in an interview for ITV's The Assembly. The programme features questions from autistic, neurodivergent, and learning-disabled interviewers, one of whom quizzed Jade about what specific pressures she faces as a woman in the music industry. The singer responded: "I'm going to be very honest about this. The thing that annoys me the most, and I get asked the most, is if I'm going to have children, do I want to be pregnant next? Am I pregnant? But I find it really weird people ask that because they don't know what my circumstances are." She continued: "You don't know if someone can't have children, or just doesn't want to, or isn't ready yet. I think it's a really invasive question and I really resent being asked it." Jade also opened up about the public scrutiny she has recently faced over her appearance, saying, "I've maybe put on a bit of weight since I've become a solo artist and because of that people speculate a lot like, 'Is she pregnant?' and I'm like, guys, I've just had a bit of garlic bread. I'm bloated. Do you know what I mean?" While reflecting on her early years in the music industry, Jade admitted that she used to feel like she had "sold her soul," adding: "But as the years have gone by I've learned more and more about the industry. I've been collecting – a bit like Thanos with the stones – I've been collecting parts of my soul back."

The girlband, Jade, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Perrie Edwards and Jesy Nelson, racked up 19 top ten singles including FIVE No1s, since their talent show triumph. 13 Jade Thirlwall feels like she 'sold her soul' to make her dream of being a singer come true Credit: Getty 13 Little Mix, in 2011, from left: Perrie Edwards, Jade, Jesy Nelson and Leigh-Anne Pinnock Credit: Rex But now she feels like she 'sold her soul' to make her dream of being a singer come true. Jade is one of four celebrities on ITV's new entertainment series The Assembly, where she was questioned by interviewers who are autistic, neurodivergent or learning disabled — with no topics off limits. But Jade, who has embarked on a solo career, was left stumped when one man asked her if she regretted selling her soul by finding fame on the talent show back in 2011. Struggling to answer diplomatically, before comparing herself to Marvel superhero Thanos, she confessed: 'You've trumped me . . . Maybe a little bit in the beginning. 'I was so young and I just signed on the dotted line. 'But as the years have gone by I've learned more and more about the industry. 'I've been collecting — a bit like Thanos with the stones — I've been collecting parts of my soul back as I've gained more creative freedom.' Asked if she thought it was the 'end of Simon Cowell', she continued: 'I think it's the end of that kind of TV show or music label. 'I think it's the end of that era. 'But I don't know if Simon Cowell specifically has ended.' Watch as Jade Thirlwall takes a swipe at Simon Cowell in debut solo single Jade's debut solo track Angel Of My Dreams was a pointed dig at Simon and the music industry. In the episode, which airs on ITV1 at 10pm this Sunday, another inquisitive fan referenced her part-Egyptian heritage before asking: 'Were the pyramids created by aliens?' Suggesting she does believe there's something fishy about them, the It Girl singer said: 'I don't know if I'm qualified. 'I mean, something spectacular made them because if you watch those documentaries, we can't actually explain it right. 'And because they're dotted all over the world, not just Egypt, you've got them in Mexico. 'This pyramid shape, what does it mean?' The female celebrities out earning their male partners by MILLIONS after Jade Thirlwall's boyfriend Jordan Stephens insists he 'loves' how the Little Mix star is more successful than him 'she's my superstar'
She might be the final member of Little Mix to release her solo music. However Jade Thirwall's career is continuing to go from strength to strength following her successful night at the BRIT Award's last month. And while the singer has millions of fans, her biggest supporter is her boyfriend Jordan Stephens who hasn't held back in his admiration for the star and has been very vocal in the fact he has no issue with the fact she earns more than him. Speaking recently on Paul C Brunson's We Need To Talk podcast Jordan said: 'My girlfriend earns more money than me. She's super successful and I f****g love it.' Explaining how some people, most likely men, struggle with the concept he continued: 'To some people it's emasculating, but I don't know what their ideas are which I find hilarious. 'But it's reflected in the fact that when I talk positive about Jade's career, they get shared loads and it means a lot. 'I have actually had a lot of personal texts from people who have been in situations where their partner, usually male partner, has struggled with their success or they feel emasculated by their success. 'Whereas for me she is my superstar, and I am her superstar.' In July 2024 Jade's net worth was estimated to be around £18million after the release of her first single Angel Of My Dreams. Since then the star has gone onto release follow up singles Fantasy, IT Girl, FUFN and Midnight Cowboy and is scheduled to play slots at numerous festivals over the summer including Glastonbury. Meanwhile Jordan, who is one half of music duo Rizzle Kicks, has a net worth estimation of just £4million in comparison. Yet they aren't the only celebrity couple where the female earns more than their partner. Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce Taylor Swift has moved past Rihanna as the world's richest female musical artist. The Grammy-winning artist, 34, has a net worth of $1.6billion (£1.2billion), Forbes reported in October, which edges the $1.4billion (£1billion) the outlet reports Rihanna's net worth as. Taylor was declared a billionaire in 2024 after the monumentous success of her wildly-lucrative Eras tour, the outlet reported. The Fortnight artist - who has a real estate portfolio estimated at about $125million - achieved the financial feat of becoming a billionaire solely through her musical endeavors, royalties and concerts. And while she may be dating one of the NFL's most popular players, Travis Kelce is nowhere near his girlfriend's level of wealth. Last August he was estimated to have a wealth of $40million (£30million) and is working hand to grow that number significantly through his podcast and upcoming presenting opportunities. Rihanna and A$AP Rocky She may have lost out on the title of richest female musical artist to Taylor Swift, but Rihanna is still worth a hefty fortune with a $1.4billion (£1billion). While her singing career has taken somewhat of a backseat in recent years since becoming a mum, the hit maker also presides over the wildly-successful Fenty cosmetics and lingerie brand. However A$AP's fortune is much more modest at £15million through his music career, fashion collaborations and business ventures. The couple have undergone a stressful period after Rocky's recent legal victory, after being cleared of two counts of felony assault with a semiautomatic firearm following a three-week trial. The musician had faced two decades in prison for his alleged involvement in a 2021 dust-up with Relli, but was found not guilty after defense attorney-to-the-stars Joe Tacopina convinced jurors Rocky was the victim of an extortion plot. After the verdicts were read out, Rocky ran over and dived into Rihanna's arms, who erupted in tears. Brooklyn Beckham and Nicola Peltz She might have married into one of the biggest families in UK showbiz, however Nicola Peltz is far wealthier than Brooklyn Beckham in her own right. The Beckham-Peltz marriage marks the union of two powerful and wealthy families, with Nicola being the daughter of billionaire businessman Nelson Peltz and model Claudia Peltz. At the head of the Peltz clan is Nicola's father, a billionaire investor who started his career as a delivery truck driver and worked his way up to launch one of the biggest food distributing companies in the world. He is now worth more than the Beckhams - with a stunning net worth of $1.6 billion - while her mother is a former model. Nicola is thought to be worth £39 million after beginning her career as a model before moving into acting. Meanwhile Brooklyn's worth is estimated around just £8 million after he launched his own hot sauce brand, Cloud 23, and published his own photography book What I See in 2017. Kylie Jenner and Timothee Chalamet She was controversially declared the world's youngest's self-made billionaire at age 21. And despite that value later being downgraded, Kylie Jenner is still estimated to be worth an incredible $700million (£525million). Makeup mogul Kylie famously owns a private jet called Kylie Air, and is the CEO of Kylie Cosmetics, which she founded with her mum Kris Jenner in 2014. Meanwhile Timothee is worth far less with his net worth coming to just $25million (£18million). Last month the actor's sister Pauline took another apparent swipe at his billionaire girlfriend. The Sex Lives of College Girls actress, 33, who previously 'shaded' Jenner's use of private jets, took to Instagram to lambast 'insane wealth disparity' in the US after reading a New York Times article about cuts to foreign aid. Pauline wrote on her stories: 'New York Times, liberal bias, yes yes yes i get it. But this one by @nickkristof is worth the read. It's about empathy and humanity. 'The United States faces a tremendous number of domestic issues. Our maternal mortality rate is embarrassing, our way of shopping and eating food completely out of season makes no sense, we're spoiled in our desire to BLAST ACs and heat, our INSANE wealth disparity is sick, the list literally goes ON and ON. 'BUT just take a second and think about the fact that LESS THAN 1% of all of our money goes to humanitarian aid. 'That money is insignificant in fixing any of the larger problems that play in the United States. 'And yet so significant to the lives of millions of individuals across this shared home we call Earth.' Pauline also appears to have previously lashed out at Kylie in posts about billionaires and CEOs who own private jets. Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco After more than two decades in the spotlight, Selena Gomez reached billionaire status, at age 32 last September, through a number of savvy business decisions and hard work. She kickstarted her career as just a child actress on the children's television series Barney & Friends, before emerging as a teen idol on Disney Channel's Wizards of Waverly Place. Starting her career off so young proved to be an incredibly lucrative decision as she is, now, reported to have a net worth of $1.3 billion (£97million), according to Bloomberg. Despite being known primarily as a singer and actress, the publication reported that the majority of the Lose You to Love Me hitmaker's wealth comes from her makeup brand, Rare Beauty, which she launched in 2020. According to Time, Rare Beauty 'is a top seller at Sephora and available in 36 countries' and has only continue to rake in more money over the years. Her brand's most popular product last year, a $23 liquid blush, brought in $70 million in sales. Some of her most profitable endorsement deals include her campaigns for 'Puma, worth a reported $30 million, and Coach, a $10 million deal.' As the third most followed person on Instagram, with more than 424 million followers, she can make an estimated $2.6 million per branded feed post on the app. Additionally, she has made a fortune landing acting gigs on TV series, like Only Murders In The Building, which was just renewed for season five, brand partnerships and her music. Meanwhile Benny Blanco, although a successful musician in his own right with 11 Grammy nominations under his belt, has a reported net worth of just $50million (£37million) An inside source previously told MailOnline: 'Yes, they are both aware that Selena is worth so much more than Benny,' noting that Blanco has already signed a prenuptial agreement ahead of their marriage to 'show [Gomez] that he wants nothing more from her than her love.' Kris Jenner and Corey Gamble She's the brains behind the Kardashian Empire and Kris Jenner's net worth makes sure to reflect this with an estimated $200million (£150million). A majority of Kris Jenner's fortune stems from the success of Keeping Up With the Kardashians. According to a 2017 report from The Hollywood Reporter, she made close to $4.3 million (£3 million) per year from E! for appearing on and executive producing the reality show. Kris, 66, also served as executive producer on the many Kardashian-Jenner reality TV spin-offs that have been released as a result of the initial show's success. And the powerful business woman earns far more than her TV personality boyfriend Corey Gamble. Corey, 44, is worth $15million (£11million) from his former work as a talent manager where he has assisted manage several high profile careers, including Justin Bieber. Cameron Diaz and Benji Madden Cameron Diaz, 52, tied the knot with musician Benji Madden, 46, at her home in Beverly Hills, California, in January 2015. The actress recently made her return to the acting industry for the first time in a decade for the Netflix action film Back In Action. And while in recent years she has shunned the spotlight in favour of family life, Cameron is still worth an impressive $140million (£105million). Back in 2013 she was even named the highest-paid actress over 40-years-old. The star is married to the lead guitarist and backing vocalist of rock band Good Charlotte - and despite his musical accolades, his net worth comes nowhere close to that of his wife. Benji's net worth reportedly sits at just $40million (£30million), leaving an huge difference of £77 million between the pair.
