Amid reshuffle buzz, Odisha CM asks ministers to present their achievements

Bhubaneswar: Amid the buzz on cabinet reshuffle in Odisha ahead of the monsoon session of the State Assembly, chief minister Mohan Majhi has directed all ministers to furnish their achievements and social media presence till May-end. Odisha chief minister Mohan Majhi. (File Photo) State BJP chief Manmohan Samal, who arrived in Bhubaneswar on Saturday after meeting senior party leaders in Delhi, said a reshuffle in the state cabinet is likely within the next 15 to 30 days. 'The responsibility of cabinet expansion lies with the chief minister. The decision on who will be inducted into the cabinet and on what basis, will be taken by the BJP's Parliamentary Board,' said Samal. As Odisha can have a maximum of 22 ministers, six more ministers can be inducted. People aware of the matter said 15 ministers have been asked to give presentations before the CM through powerpoint slides summing up the performance and efficiency of their respective departments. 'The ministers have been asked to give their achievements between June 2024 and May 2025 and the targets for the ongoing financial year. All the achievements have to be given in quantitative and budgetary spending. Besides, they would have to detail difficulties and challenges faced for implementation of various government programmes and steps taken to alleviate those challenges in governance,' said the person aware of the matter. Apart from this the ministers have been asked to detail the internal mechanism of clearing routine files as well as those dealing with programme implementation and policy issues. They have been asked to give a clear timeline for preparation of Annual Action Plan as well as monitoring and evaluation mechanism within the department. One official said as CM Majhi is focussed more on grievance redressal, the ministers have been asked to give details of resolution of each department with clear marker on how many were resolved within 7 days, 8-21 days, 22 -45 days and after 45 days. 'The ministers have been asked to detail the number of grievances they have attended physically (apart from participating in CM's grievance meetings),' he said. In addition to this, they have been asked to submit any new initiatives and policy reforms initiated by their departments for effective governance as well as technology adoption and integration like digital tools, automation or using Al for efficiency,' the official said. During the review with the chief minister, the ministers concerned would also have to give details of their participation on social media platforms. 'Each minister would have to give the number of average monthly posts on X, Facebook and Instagram. Only those posts related to their department, government- mandated visits, national or state issues and shared posts of Prime Minister and chief minister would be taken into consideration. The individual or social event postings unrelated to government programmes would not be considered,' said the official.

Bommai tells banks to provide financial guidance to micro, medium industries

BJP MP Basavaraj Bommai has asked bankers to provide suitable guidance with regard to finances along with providing loans to industrialists running micro and medium industries. Chairing a District Consultative Committee (DCC) and District Level Review Committee (DLRC) meeting of the Lead Bank in Gadag on Thursday, Mr. Bommai said that the bankers have played an important role in the economic and social development of the district. 'If bankers discharge their duties with a people-friendly approach, then the development of the district will happen at a faster pace. If there are any problems with regard to providing financial assistance to industrialists, bankers should discuss the issue with the district administration and various departments to get them resolved,' he said. As Gadag is predominantly an agrarian district, there should not be any delay in providing farm loans, Mr. Bommai said. Mr. Bommai, who is a former Chief Minister, said that as there is a great scope for food processing industries in the district, officials should chalk out programmes in consultation with various other departments concerned for the purpose. Chief Executive Officer of Gadag Zilla Panchayat Bharath S. asked bankers to raise any issue concerning loan disbursement with regard to government-sponsored schemes immediately with the district administration. Manager of Lead Bank Santosh M.V. said that of the 182 branches of the Lead Bank in the district, advances-deposit ratio at the end of June 2025 stood at 98.16% and bankers have been asked to improve the ratio. He said that in the annual credit plan, ₹85,461.97 lakh advances have been given to the farm sector till June-end and advances to the tune of ₹1,28,065.08 lakh have been given to the priority sector. During the meeting, progress of various State and Centrally-sponsored schemes was reviewed and a handbook on Annual Action Plan and District Credit Plan was released. Deputy Commissioner C.N. Sridhar, Nagasubba Reddy B. of SBI RBO, Suraj S. of RBI, Mayur Kamble of NABARD and others were present.

Telangana government to provide loans worth Rs 19K crore to 3.55 lakh SHGs

HYDERABAD: The government has set a target of providing loans worth Rs 19,838.58 crore to 3,55,138 self-help groups (SHGs) in Telangana in 2025-26. Women & Child Welfare Minister Dansari Anasuya alias Seethakka revealed this during the unveiling of the Society for Elimination of Rural Poverty (SERP) Annual Action Plan for 2025-26 held in Hyderabad on Thursday. The minister also launched an information booklet aimed at promoting financial literacy among members of SHGs. Describing the action plan as a roadmap for women's economic empowerment through bank linkages, Seethakka highlighted last year's success, noting that SHGs exceeded credit targets and secured an additional Rs 5,000 crore in loans. She emphasised that SHGs have proven their creditworthiness, with a repayment rate of 98.5%, which outpaces even that of large corporate borrowers. 'Just as we successfully implemented last year's plan, I am confident we will achieve the goals set for this year as well,' she said, while urging banks to continue their cooperation in providing credit to SHGs. Seethakka concluded by promising that every rupee borrowed this financial year by women's groups will be repaid without a single rupee becoming an NPA.
