Damani Leech says Broncos have made changes that take 10 years for other NFL teams
The Denver Broncos have undergone several major changes since being purchased by the Walton-Penner family in 2022. Under the new ownership group, the Broncos have secured a new head coach, a new quarterback, new uniforms, an upgraded stadium and a new facility (coming soon). They are also exploring the possibility of building a new stadium. Those are big changes made in a short period. 'Three seasons in, and for me it's been great," Broncos president Damani Leech said at the NFL's Annual League Meeting in March. "It's been transformative. If you talk to people who've been with the organization for a longer period of time, the things that we've done in a two-and-a-half-year period a lot of clubs around the league get done in about a 10-year window. So it's been quite a sprint, whether that has been stadium renovations, uniform re-launches [or] the new training facility that's underway, a lot of things we're doing. "In addition to that, just what we're doing culturally from a business standpoint. The rigor that we're putting into the decisions we make, the use of data and all of those things is pretty special. It's fun to be a part of.' On the business side, Denver recently hired Daniel Brusilovsky as its new chief technology officer. He will help the club continue to enhase fan and consumer experiences. Above all else, though, winning is the best business strategy for NFL teams -- regardless of the uniforms, stadium or marketing decisions. 'Good football is good for business," Leech said. "I think everybody in the building agrees with that. That starts with ownership. It starts with their mindset of this being a football-first franchise. We talk about it being the best place to play [for], work [for] and cheer for, but it starts with play for. "We very much think about it from a business standpoint, what can we do to make us successful on the field? What are we doing to help us get a win and help us win a Super Bowl? We talk about that. Regardless of the department you're in around the company and around the building, you should be thinking with a football-first mindset.' That football-first mindset has served the team's ownership group well, and the Broncos certainly appear to be trending up since 2022. After making the NFL playoffs for the first time since 2015 last fall, Denver will look to take another step forward in 2025. The uniforms have changed and the stadium might change, but the fans' desire to support a winning franchise will never change. Social: Follow Broncos Wire on Facebook and Twitter/X! Miami Dolphins focus on team chemistry; try out pilates and paintball
MIAMI GARDENS — Paintball and Pilates. Several Miami Dolphins players have said this year feels different. And more team bonding activities are on the 2025 agenda. "I feel like we're closer as a team," Dolphins assistant head coach Jon Embree said during offseason workouts. "I felt like last year we were more of a roster than a team. This year the feeling I'm getting out of us is more of team, the comradery, guys doing stuff together." Advertisement The offensive line did pilates together. The defensive line did paintball together. The tight end have gone to dinner. "We're doing more team events," Embree said. "(Coach) Mike (McDaniel) has set more time for us as coaches to do stuff with our players." Said running back De'Von Achane: "We're trying to build our chemistry." Said edge rusher Chop Robinson: "You get to see the team chemistry. Everybody just wants the same goal. Everybody wants to be great, everybody wants to win. The only way to do that is doing it all together." Miami Dolphins try out paintball and pilates Are you picking up what the Dolphins are putting down for 2025? Advertisement The Dolphins are planning to trade star cornerback Jalen Ramsey, who is very talented, but a bit of a lone wolf. It's clear Miami, in general, has felt a chemistry shakeup can be beneficial. "I think that we can further develop and that can contribute to a culture of a team-first mentality," McDaniel said at league meetings. A higher percentage of players are attending voluntary offseason workouts. Miami Dolphins' offseason attendance is up "The attendance is similar to our first year when we had everyone showing up," Embree said. Embree was asked about McDaniel's approach to some things that came up in 2024, such as player lateness. Advertisement McDaniel's plan has always been to empower the players to hold themselves and each other accountable. Embree made it clear McDaniel has not undergone some dramatic metamorphosis in approach. Sure, there will be tweaks, but McDaniel believes in his core philosophies and principles. "One thing I have to say about Mike, and some people might think this is a fault, he's even-keeled," Embree said. "You can hear when I'm mad. Everyone knows when I'm not happy. So I think I need to be more like him. He's done a good job of really continuing to empower the true leaders on the team, lifting them up and doing stuff." "They are hearing all this stuff about discipline and they are taking it personal and feeling like its a reflection on them." The Dolphins, in recent years, have added a collection of star power. General manager Chris Grier drafted players like Tua Tagovailoa, Jaylen Waddle, and De'Von Achane and traded for players like Tyreek Hill, Jalen Ramsey and Bradley Chubb. But any coach or player will tell you that it takes more than talent to win. The Dolphins clearly have 2025 themes of focus, accountability and also strengthening overall team chemistry. Advertisement In some ways, it all goes hand-in-hand. "More time within the calendar for us to do the things we need to do to become closer as a team," Embree said. New York Giants were among teams who voted to ban tush push
A proposal by the Green Bay Packers to ban the "tush push" failed to pass at the NFL Spring Meetings in Eagan, Minnesota on Wednesday. The New York Giants were one of the 22 teams that voted to ban the play. The measure, however, fell just two votes from passing. "The proposal was revised from one submitted for the league's Annual League Meeting earlier this spring and would have eliminated pushing or pulling a runner 'in any direction at any time,' while lifting the player to his feet also would have been banned," reported Kevin Patra of Advertisement The Philadelphia Eagles, who made the play a common occurrence the past few seasons, celebrated the failure of the measure on their social media account. The Eagles and Buffalo Bills have run the play more frequently than any of the 32 NFL teams since 2022. The Eagles have a success rate of approximately 87 percent. The league average for success is 71 percent. The Giants have been the victim of the play countless times where quarterback Jalen Hurts keeps the snap and is propelled from behind by another player in an effort to push him across the line of scrimmage or goal line. Tennessee Titans' Brian Callahan says team has narrowed options to 'short list' of players
With the 2025 NFL draft less than a month away, what the Tennessee Titans are going to do with the top pick is still a bit of a mystery. While all signs point to Miami quarterback Cam Ward, general manager Mike Borgonzi recently talked openly about all options still being on the table and that no final decision has been made. Advertisement Head coach Brian Callahan seemed to back this up during a recent conversation at the Annual League Meeting when he met with NFL Network Insider Tom Pelissero. "I think it's a short list at No. 1 for sure, it's all the guys that I think are worthy of it, the ones that everyone talks about out there, and between Travis (Hunter) and Shedeur (Sanders) and Cam (Ward) and Abdul Carter, I think those are, those are the top of the draft for me, those are the most elite players in the draft," Callahan told Pelissero. "There's certainly going to be a lot of good ones that come after them, but I think those at this moment are the best players in the draft and at the top of it." This list should come as no surprise to anyone. These are four players that have been connected to the Titans throughout the pre-draft process and are widely considered to be top prospects either in need and in overall value. Advertisement After the Titans sent a large contingent to Miami for Ward's Pro Day and then followed that up with a private workout on Friday, he would likely be considered the favorite at the moment. But there are some things to pay attention to in the coming days that may offer some more insight. Colorado has their Pro Day scheduled for April 4 and the size of the Titans' entourage will be something to monitor. If they send the same group to Boulder to see Hunter and Sanders, then what Callahan said could be considered legitimate. One more thing to monitor is the health of Abdul Carter. While the Titans didn't send the same group to Penn State for their Pro Day, the star edge did not work out due to injury and only met with teams to discuss his status. If healthy, the Titans could possibly hold a private workout leading up to the draft on April 24. The Titans could go many different ways in this draft and have a lot of work to do in the coming weeks. Until a name is called or a decision is leaked, expect the speculation to grow as the days count down.
