Anton Khudobin (via Getty Images) Veteran goalie Anton Khudobin, perhaps well known in the NHL world for his great playoff performance with the Dallas Stars, has retired after more than a decade of playing hockey. Most remembered for being a good starter and backup, Anton Khudobin spent 14 seasons in the league, suiting up for six teams and becoming notorious for his grit during the 2020 Stanley Cup Playoffs. But the years with the Dallas Stars were dynasty years. Anton Khudobin was recruited by the Dallas Stars in 2018 and served the team for four years. He took part in a total of 102 games and posted an overtime losing record of 47-40-17 during the 2018-2022 season. He played his best game in the year 2020 when he emerged as the most powerful goalie of the team during the playoffs, winning the Stanley Cup Final against the Tampa Bay Lightning. Even in defeat to Tampa Bay, his play was widely admired. Anton Khudobin played in the NHL most recently on March 23, 2023, when he stopped 22 shots in a 6-1 defeat for the Chicago Blackhawks. Longtime NHL goalie Anton Khudobin retires
August 6 - Anton Khudobin, a journeyman goaltender who last appeared in the NHL in 2023, announced his retirement on Tuesday. Khudobin, 39, played in 260 games across 14 NHL seasons with the Minnesota Wild (2009-11), Boston Bruins (2011-13, 2016-18), Carolina Hurricanes (2013-15), Anaheim Ducks (2015-16), Dallas Stars (2018-22) and Chicago Blackhawks, for whom he started one game during the 2022-23 campaign. His best stretch came in Dallas, where he made 112 appearances (102 starts) and recorded a 2.54 goals-against average and a .917 save percentage. All 24 of his postseason starts came with the Stars on their run to the Stanley Cup Final in the 2020 "bubble" playoffs. Khudobin went 14-10-0 in those playoffs with a 2.69 GAA and a .917 save percentage, as the Stars went on to lose the final to the Tampa Bay Lightning in six games. Former Bruins Goalie Calls It A Career
Former Boston Bruins goalie Anton Khudobin has retired from professional hockey. The Dallas Stars confirmed the news in a post on their official X account. Khudobin spent a nice chunk of his NHL career as a member of the Bruins, as he played four years over two stints with the Original Six club from 2011-12 to 2012-13 and 2016-17 to 2017-18. In 62 games as a Bruin, he had a 33-16-9 record, a .914 save percentage, and a 2.50 goals-against average. Overall, he worked very well as a backup goalie while he played for the Bruins. This was especially the case during the 2017-18 campaign, as he had a 16-6-7 record, a 2.56 goals-against average, and a .913 save percentage in 31 games. In 260 career NHL games over 14 seasons split between the Minnesota Wild, Bruins, Carolina Hurricanes, Anaheim Ducks, Stars, and Chicago Blackhawks, Khudobin put together a 114-92-33 record, a .916 save percentage, and a 2.52 goals-against average. Khudobin had his best NHL season with the Stars in 2019-20, as he recorded a 16-8-4 record, a .930 save percentage, and a 2.22 goals-against average. He also thrived for the Stars during their 2020 playoff run, as he had a 14-10 record, a .917 save percentage, and a 2.69 goals-against average in 25 games. Former Carolina Hurricanes goaltender Anton Khudobin is reportedly retiring from professional hockey after a 17-year career. Khudobin, 39, played in the NHL in parts of 14 seasons and for six different teams, most notably Dallas and Carolina. The veteran netminder played for Carolina from 2013-2015, appearing in 70 games for the franchise. In those games, the Russian netminder had a 27-31-7 record, but a 0.914 save percentage and 2.5 goals against average along with two shutouts.
