Agape Mngomezulu Talks Bryon and Bracia's Relationship in GINNY & GEORGIA Season 3

If there's one thing you can expect while watching Ginny & Georgia Season 3, it's a rollercoaster of emotional highs and lows. And if explosive family drama is your thing, you're in for a wild ride. For starters, Georgia (Brianne Howey) stands trial for murder, and Ginny (Antonia Gentry) must reckon with her mom's predicament. However, it's not only the titular mother-daughter duo who endures a heaping helping of narrative turbulence. Other characters like Bryon (Agape Mngomezulu) and Bracia (Tameka Griffiths) are navigating uncharted territory — the ups and downs of young love. Recently, I had the privilege of chatting with Agape about his role in Ginny & Georgia Season 3, what viewers can expect and Bryon and Bracia's relationship. RELATED: Everything Coming to Netflix in June 2025 This interview is edited for clarity. Agape Mngomezulu Pictured: Agape Mngomezulu Melody McCune: We at GGA love a good origin story. How did you get into acting? Agape Mngomezulu: I started acting in high school. I would do community plays and musicals. When I was in grade 9 or 10, I was like, 'Yes, this is what I want to do.' In grade 12, I got into background work to see if this was a good fit. Then, right after I graduated from high school, I went to film school. Then, 18 months later, I was in the professional world. Ginny & Georgia Season 3 MM: Let's talk about Ginny & Georgia . Can you tell me what Season 3 is about and how your character fits into the story? AM: Season 3 finds a lot of characters going through their deepest, darkest moments. We see Georgia in the aftermath of her getting arrested at her wedding. We see Ginny deal with her mom going to prison and a whole murder trial. Then, her friends are dealing with their own personal issues. The way my character, Bryon, fits into that is that you see a different side of him. Last season, [he was] very cool, calm and collected. This season, you see him start to comfort Maxine (Sara Waisglass), for example, when she's going through it. You also get to see a more emotional, caring side of him as well. Amanda Matlovich/Netflix © 2025 MM: What can you tease about Bryon and Bracia's relationship in Season 3? How does this season test their bond? AM: This season, you see the ups and downs of young love. You see them wrestle with what love is. Because [this is] the first time they've both been in a situation and wrestled with, 'Do we love each other? What's happening here?' Their relationship definitely gets tested, more so like, 'What are we doing here?' MM: What can viewers expect when they watch this season? AM: A lot of drama. It's a very emotional season, really. Out of the three seasons, this one definitely pushes all the characters to their breaking point. We see them deal with things in ways we've never seen before. MM: Describe Season 3 using three words. AM: Emotional. Deep. Surprising. MM: Do you share any similarities with Bryon? AM: We do have a few similarities. In Season 2, Bryon stops playing football to join the musical because he has a crush on Bracia. When I was in high school, I did the opposite. I played rugby to impress a girl in grade 9 instead of doing theater. It worked, but I quickly realized I'm not a rugby guy. RELATED: Next on Netflix: Check Out the Streamer's 2025 TV Slate MM: Without giving too much away, do you have a highlight or a favorite scene from filming this season? AM: It's always such a joy shooting the musical episodes. It takes me back to when I was still in high school doing musicals for my school. Those are always a treat to do because it's like a combination of doing real-life theater. It feels like a real production, while also getting that film and TV aspect of it. On the Horizon Tameka Griffiths as Bracia Charles, Agape Mngomezulu as Bryon in episode 302 of Ginny & Georgia. Cr. Courtesy of Netflix © 2025 MM: What else is on the horizon for you, career-wise? AM: I have a movie coming out called Lucky Weekend . It's written, produced and directed by Kevin Alves, who is on Yellowjackets . He also stars in it. That'll come out at some point. It'll be doing a festival run between this year and the upcoming year. That'll be really exciting. It's a fun movie. MM: Have you watched anything interesting lately? AM: I've really been in my reality TV bag. I'm loving this season of Love Island USA . There's something about watching other people go through real-life drama. It's an escape because when I watch movies and TV, I'm analyzing the acting. How things are done in the production. When I'm watching reality TV, I'm like, 'Wow, this is just fun.' MM: You can turn your brain off for a little bit. AM: Exactly. Brain off. We're just enjoying [things] after a long day. RELATED: Cecilia Lee on the Wild Ride That Is Fear Street: Prom Queen MM: Last question. Name your five favorite films. AM: Number one favorite film of all time — Scott Pilgrim vs. the World. Mr. Nobody . Meet the Robinsons . Inception . A more recent one, Sinners . I know everyone's talking about it. I didn't want to buy into the hype; I was like, 'I'm going to watch this without any preconceived notions, and I'm going to judge it critically.' Then, I watched it and was like, 'Okay, this is pretty amazing.' All three seasons of Ginny & Georgia are now streaming on Netflix. "They Always Do Black Girls Hair Dirty": Antonia Gentry Had To "Clear Up Some Things" About Her Hair On "Ginny & Georgia," And Here's Why It Has Caught The Attention Of Nearly 14 Million People

Antonia Gentry stars as Ginny in Netflix's "Ginny & Georgia." Season three was released earlier this month. Since its release, the show has been hugely popular, but one detail fans have increasingly noticed is the change in Ginny's hair each season — and it is striking up viral conversations on TikTok. So, Antonia decided to make her own TikTok explaining the whole situation: "Hello from my hotel room. Hi everyone. Thank you so much for watching season three of "Ginny & Georgia." I hope you're enjoying it. I wanted to pop on here for a second and clear up a couple things. I've been seeing some very funny things circulating about my hair, so I just wanted to clear up some stuff," she starts. "My hair is not naturally straight. I don't know who started that, or why anyone would believe that — I'm half Black. I didn't get a perm to play Ginny, my hair is naturally curly. My mom has a beautiful afro. My dad has a wave to his head. So, I have tight curls. And also, I understand that, Ginny's hair from seasons one, two, and three is very, very different. So let me just explain..." "Season one, that is my natural hair. It's my natural hair. Season was a little bit of a challenge for some people to work with my hair. So, you know, it was mostly my hair, but we had a little bit of heat damage in there. It randomly got bleached for no reason — and four inches got cut off." (Here is her hair in season one.) "So, when we went into season two, I was like, 'Hey, my hair got pretty damaged in season one. Can I get a wig?' And they were like, 'All right, bet. We'll give you a wig.' And I was like, 'All right, bet I'm getting a wig.' There were two wigs for season two, and those two wigs were curled very interestingly, and it didn't really work. It wasn't working." "So for like, half of season two, I'm in this wig that doesn't really match my actual hair, it has no movement. And so we stopped using the wig, but in order for us to have it, it was like a continuity thing. They took a wand to my hair and curled each and every section of my hair to match the curl pattern of the wig. So my hair was put through heat every single day to match the pattern of the wig, which we ended up not even using the entire time because it didn't look right. So that's why there's some interesting hair choices for Ginny in season two." "But season three, it's my natural hair. It's all my hair, except for the extensions, of course. And Ginny has long hair, and I had someone who did such an amazing job. We didn't use any heat, we took care of it, we kept it moving, and I didn't have to worry or stress out at any moment in the hair trailer. Shout out, Stacy. So, yeah, my favorite hair moment for Ginny is season three, because that's the healthiest my hair has ever been filming the show." (This is what Ginny's hair looks like this season.) "I hope that that clears up the mystery of my hair. It's not naturally straight. I don't have a perm, a curly perm. Obviously, I have a little bit of heat damage. My hair is styled all the time for work, and also, just personally, I like to switch it up." "When I was a kid, I had very tight, healthy curls — very full hair, and now I have a bit of heat damage, and my hair is a little bit thinner. We're working on it. Take your vitamins... But I don't have straight hair. I got curly hair. Okay, love y'all, bye." Photo: @katiedouglas98/Instagram Born in October 1998 in Ontario, Canada, Douglas has been in the entertainment industry since she was six years old. In a 2023 interview with PhotoBook magazine, the actress revealed that, after she appeared in a play at summer camp, she was scouted by one of the parents in the audience who worked as a casting agent. 'It was a [stroke] of luck, I suppose, that my reluctant parents even entertained the idea of signing with an agency, because I learned very quickly that it was an environment that was actually healthy for me. It stuck,' she said. After starring in clothing commercials, Douglas made her screen acting debut at the age of seven in an episode of F2: Forensic Factor, a Canadian true crime documentary series. She also has credits in the TV drama Mary Kills People and the 2018 true crime film Believe Me: The Abduction of Lisa McVey. Most recently, Douglas starred in the 2025 American slasher film Clown in a Cornfield. The inspiration behind her portrayal of Abby

For those looking to whet their appetite before diving into the chaos of the new season, look no further. Several fans have praised the tonal-shift of the new episodes, moving away from the more cringey dialogue of seasons part for a deeper and grittier plot. In particular fans shared their love for Max's (Sara Waisglass) character arc and performance. 'They ate down and devoured this was an amazing season, it was not cringy at all. It was so different from the first two seasons, it was so serious and I was so into it. I binged watched the whole series,' RT user Adi F wrote. 'Best season yet!!! The writing on this show (at least for Netflix) is REAL TV, especially through Max's character. 'There's so much going on and this should be a lesson to streamers to let a show grow and find its footing before you cancel it. After finishing the last two episodes, I can't wait to see what happens next,' Tyler D echoed. 'WOW! WOW! WOW…Season 3!!! How amazing to be 'reunited' with my favorite characters and slip right back into the twists and turns of the nuanced world that is Ginny & Georgia! The writing, the performances were next level!' Lisa S shared. 'Season three does not disappoint! Once again, I had a range of emotions…happy, pissed, relieved, tears, elation, shocked. It was so good! So much going on.' Marni C added. 'There's just something about this season that really hit different. I've loved Ginny & Georgia from the start, and the team behind it keeps proving how talented they are. While the first two seasons had some cheesy moments, this one felt more grounded and real,' Carley M agreed. 'You could honestly tell why this season took so long to come out. The amount of effort put in by the writers was noticeable, carefully developing previously neglected characters while still doing right by plot lines carried over from previous seasons. 'Certain scenes were truly gut-wrenching. This was hands down my favorite season of the show,' Accursed B declared. After ending on a suitable dramatic note, fans have been saved the agony of waiting for a renewal, with Netflix already greenlighting a fourth season. Discussing her approach to the third season and exploring Georgia's relationship with her children, creator Sarah Lampert told Hollywood Reporter that they spoke with a psychologist. More Trending She explained: 'We chatted with [psychologist] Dr. Taji again and we were like: 'If we were going to bring them to a more healed relationship, what would have to happen?' And she said, 'You'd have to break Georgia,' 'Georgia needs to feel like she really might lose her kids, and only then could she change and want to change.' As for exactly how that pans out, you'll have to watch and see. View More » Ginny and Georgia is available to stream on Netflix now. Got a story?
