Kuwait Club clinches 58th Premier Handball League title, Burgan secures historic second
KUWAIT CITY, May 29: The Kuwait Club handball team secured the title of the 58th Premier Handball League after a commanding 39-28 victory over Sulaibikhat in the first round of the league's third and final stage. This triumph marked the club's 15th overall league title and 13th consecutive championship, sealing the title with four rounds remaining and bringing their total to 48 points. Meanwhile, Burgan made history by finishing second in the league for the first time, following a 32-28 win over Al-Salmiya. With 39 points, Burgan stands eight points clear of third-place Kazma. Even if Kazma wins its remaining four matches and Burgan loses all of theirs, both would be tied on points, but Burgan would maintain the edge based on head-to-head performance. The battle for third place continues, with Kazma (31 points) and Al-Salmiya (23 points) contending for the podium. Reacting to the historic achievement, Burgan Sports Club Chairman Anwar Al-Otaibi praised the club's progress, saying: 'This milestone didn't happen overnight. It is the result of the tremendous support from the club's board of directors, combined with the efforts of our technical, administrative, and medical staff, as well as the commitment of our players.' Al-Otaibi also confirmed that Burgan will participate in the Asian Club Championship this November, marking the team's first continental appearance. He expressed optimism, noting that the team will compete with four Asian professionals and is aiming for a strong showing.

Kuwait Club seals fourth straight Volleyball Premier League title
KUWAIT CITY, May 14: Kuwait Club's first volleyball team claimed the Kuwait Premier League title, marking the 16th championship in the club's history and its fourth consecutive crown. Kuwait Club secured the title after defeating Burgan Club 3-0 in the second match of the playoff semifinals, held at Union Hall in the Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Sports Complex. Burgan Club celebrated a historic runner-up finish—the highest in its volleyball history—while Al-Arabi Club took third place with a 3-1 win over Kazma. According to league regulations, the Premier League champion is determined in a best-of-three playoff series. Kuwait Club secured the title early by winning both matches 3-0, making a third game unnecessary. Following the final, Dr. Jaber Al-Marri, President of the Kuwait Volleyball Association, along with Association members, Burgan Club President Anwar Al-Otaibi, and Kuwait Club representatives, crowned the top three teams. Dr. Al-Marri praised the high level of competition this season, stating that the 2024-2025 campaign was among the most competitive in recent years, with teams like Al-Qadsia, Al-Arabi, and Kazma fighting for the title until the final stages. He added that such competitiveness promises an even more exciting upcoming season and hopes for continued strong fan support. He also emphasized that the improvement in club-level performances reflects positively on the national team, expressing gratitude to the Public Authority for Sports and its acting director, Bashar Abdullah, for their ongoing support. Historic achievement as Burgan qualifies for the Premier League Volleyball final
KUWAIT CITY, May 7: Burgan has made history by qualifying for the Premier League Volleyball final, where they will face defending champion Kuwait Club on Friday at 7:00 pm. The match will be preceded by a third-place playoff between Kazma and Al-Arabi. For the first time in the club's history, Burgan advanced to the final after defeating Al-Arabi 3-1 in their semi-final playoff at the Kuwait Volleyball Association Hall in Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Sports Complex. The set scores were 25-20, 23-25, 28-26, and 25-16. In a three-match playoff format, Kuwait Club won the first match 3-0, while Burgan SC claimed the second match 3-1, solidifying its position as the "dark horses" of the current season and setting its sights on the title. Burgan Club Chairman Anwar Al-Otaibi congratulated the club's fans and board members on this historic achievement. He emphasized that this qualification was the result of meticulous planning by the team's technical and administrative staff and the dedication of the players.
