Riverdale star barely recognisable in trailer for new romance that already has fans 'sobbing'

The Map That Leads to You will hit Prime Video UK this summer and has already sent fans of the novel into a frenzy over the tearjerker trailer The Map That Leads To You - Official trailer on Amazon Prime KJ Apa, famed for his role as Archie Andrews in Riverdale, is unrecognisable in the newly released trailer for a captivating romance film set to premiere on Prime Video next month. Adapted from JP Monninger's novel, the film introduces us to Heather Mulgrew, portrayed by Outer Banks star Madelyn Cline, a young traveller whose life takes an unexpected turn when she meets Apa's enigmatic character, Jack, during her European holiday. Heather, who's on a quest for self-discovery before embarking on her career in New York City, finds herself swept up in a whirlwind romance with Jack, a man tracing his grandfather's footsteps through a journal. Their journey ignites a passionate affair as they traverse the picturesque landscapes of Spain, Portugal, and Italy, hinting that their connection might be more than a fleeting summer romance. Yet, as they delve deeper into their relationship, complexities arise, forcing Heather to choose between her ambitions and what could be the love of her life, reports the Express. The official synopsis teases: "This chance encounter sparks an unexpected journey of self-discovery. "As their connection deepens, secrets, life choices, and hidden truths will test their bond-and change Heather's life in ways she never imagined." Riverdale enthusiasts who've lost touch with Apa's breakthrough series may do a double-take upon seeing the Kiwi actor in this new persona. Ditching Archie's iconic red locks for a tousled darker mane and sporting some stubble, Apa also sheds the American accent, fully immersing himself in this fresh character. The forthcoming drama flick, helmed by the director of What's Eating Gilbert Grape, Lasse Hallström, will feature Sofia Wylie from The School for Good and Evil and Ozark's Madison Thompson as Heather's closest friends. Orlando Norman and Josh Lucas are also set to appear, with the latter known to Yellowstone enthusiasts for his portrayal of a young John Dutton, originally played by Kevin Costner. With the trailer dropping this Tuesday (15th July), The Map That Leads to You is already stirring excitement among fans, who are bracing themselves for an emotional journey when it hits screens in just over a month. One eager YouTube user responded: "I'm so beyond excited to finally be able to watch this movie." Another fan gushed: "The movie looks so beautiful, I can't wait to see this!!!!!" A third person shared their enthusiasm: "I've missed movies with this vibe, literally so excited." ‌ Meanwhile, a devotee of the source material confessed on X (formerly Twitter): "Guys who haven't read the map that leads to you don't get why we're already sobbing." An additional comment came with a caution: "Iv read the book and so I tried to prepare myself but as soon as I saw the trailer and that single tear falling down heathers face I fear I will NEVERR be fully prepared." They continued: "I'll prob be sobbing in a fetal position for days on end after watching it." Prime Video might just have one of the biggest tear-jerkers of the year lined up for viewers this summer, promising a poignant European adventure with Heather and Jack. The Map That Leads to You premieres Wednesday, 20th August on Prime Video.

Man lynched in Arunachal as mob outnumbers police, cops say ‘sensitive matter' to justify no arrests

Three days after a 19-year-old migrant worker was lynched by locals in Arunachal Pradesh's Roing town over allegations of sexually assaulting multiple children in the school where he worked, police are yet to make any arrests. The deceased Rizaul Karim, originally from Assam's Bongaigaon district, had succumbed to his injuries after being assaulted by a mob in police presence in different locations on July 11. Two cases had been registered in Roing police station over this incident: one pertaining to criminal conspiracy, rioting, causing grievous harm and the Prevention of Damage to Property Act; another under multiple sections, including murder and mob lynching. Arunachal IGP (Law & Order) Chukhu Apa said that the police were moving with caution on the case, saying that 'it is a sensitive matter'. 'As of now, there are no arrests. We are examining video footage and collecting evidence. After we are done, we will definitely take action and make arrests. We need some time since this is a sensitive matter in which so many minor children are affected,' he said. IGP Apa said that the deceased worked as a labourer in the premises of a residential school. 'Over a period of time, he had systematically been sexually assaulting minor girls in the school. Based on information they had received, a group of parents arrived at the school on July 10 and began questioning who were there. There was a big commotion but the police intervened and the situation was brought under control. However, the main accused had run away,' said Apa. That night, an FIR had been registered in Roing police station against the deceased under the POCSO Act and sections of the BNS pertaining to rape and sexual harassment. Apa said that while police launched a manhunt for Karim, a group of locals, including parents, also began looking for him. A 'significant number' of girls aged between ages 6 and 9 had allegedly been sexually assaulted in the school hostel and had undergone medical examinations, he said. 'They found him in the suburbs of Roing town the next morning, and began assaulting him. When police received information, they rushed there, rescued him and took him for emergency care to a district hospital. But the mob followed them there, so he was then taken to Roing police station, but they followed there too. As word spread, more and more people joined in, and it was a crowd of over 200-300 people who overpowered the police and dragged him out of the police station to assault him. Police were outnumbered and did not have enough time to act because everything happened very quickly,' Apa said. He said Karim succumbed to his injuries in the district hospital, where he was taken again for medical treatment in the afternoon after this incident. The same day, the Lower Dibang Valley district administration also issued an order to close down the school indefinitely, citing 'untoward incident of molestation of minor girls in girls' hostel'. The district authorities have advised parents to withdraw their children from the school and send them to the nearby ones.

Why APA Stock Just Popped

Israeli warplanes struck targets in Iran overnight, prompting reprisals from Iran. Investors worry that conflict in the Middle East may curtail oil supplies, causing prices to rise. Oil stocks stand to benefit if this happens. 10 stocks we like better than Apa › Independent oil and gas producer APA (NASDAQ: APA) gained 3.8% through 1:30 p.m. ET as news continues to pour in concerning Israel's attacks on Iran, and Iran's response to same. Israeli warplanes struck multiple targets in Iran last night, prompting drone strike reprisals from Iran, and threats of more of the same. Investors worry oil supplies from Middle East producers could be at risk, and oil prices are on the rise in anticipation of this. So far this afternoon, is clocking a 6.5% rise in the price of WTI crude oil to $72.50 per barrel. International benchmark Brent Crude oil is up 6.4% and selling for just under $74 a barrel. It's a knee-jerk reaction to the Israel-Iran news, to be sure, but don't expect these price rises to disappear anytime soon. To the contrary, as the conflict continues and potentially widens to include neighboring countries, worries could rise even further -- and oil prices along with them. That's not necessarily bad news if you're invested in oil stocks, however. Logically, if the price of oil rises, then the profits of companies that sell oil, and their stock prices, will also rise. In the case of APA, we're looking at a mid-cap energy stock that earned $804 million in profit last year even before prices began rising, and that trades for only about 7.2 times trailing earnings today. APA also pays a generous 5% dividend yield. Arguably best of all, APA generates superior free cash flow of $1.2 billion, or about 20% more than reported trailing-12-month earnings. This is unusual for an energy stock. It's a strong argument in favor of buying APA stock, whatever happens in the Middle East.
