2 Stabbed Following A Minecraft Movie Screening Altercation
A late-night fight between two moviegoers outside of a movie theater in Warwick, Rhode Island, turned bad, with two people being stabbed following a showing of A Minecraft Movie. The incident occurred on the night of April 15, 2025. According to a report from Providence's ABC6, Warwick police responded to calls of a fight in the parking lot of an Apple Cinemas in the area. Police reports note that four teenagers were told to be quiet during the movie, then followed three adults into the parking lot. According to arrest reports, the teenagers assaulted the three adults, and slashed them with knives. Those in the are that called the cops call the incident 'the last thing' they expected to happen, with Warwick resident Marilyn Wade recounting what happened. 'There was a scuffle out here, I didn't know for sure what it was,' Wade said. 'A whole bunch of people were gathering around each other and it didn't seem like a happy scene. 'This is a very nice neighborhood, and I go to this mall and movie theater and I know a lot of the people there.' The four teenagers who were arrested will be processed through the family court system. Their names and identities were not made available due to their age. The two people who were stabbed are expected to recover, according to police. Belmont World Film's 23rd International Film Series examines ‘Freedom on Film'

Laura Ottoni of Grupo Mulher Brasileira (Brazilian Women's Group) and Belmont World Film board member and social worker Maria Carvalho will host a discussion of the film on April 28. Roya Sadat's "Sima's Song," which follows the long-time friendship of two women with opposing political views, will have its North American premiere during the film series in May. In the film, set in 1970s Afghanistan, Suraya, a wealthy communist activist, and Sima, a conservative Muslim, navigate their friendship amid the civil unrest and war. On May 12, writer Mathyas Lefebure will appear at the festival for the US premiere of 'Shepherds,' a film based on his memoir about his decision to trade an advertising career for life in the French Alps to become a sheep herder. The closing film, 'Under the Volcano,' originally premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in September 2024. It follows a vacationing Ukrainian family stuck in Tenerife, Spain after Russia invaded Ukraine in early 2022. Gitelman says the festival has made her 'so much more compassionate, and that her hope for these screenings is to 'create understanding.' The festival's aim is to help viewers 'be understanding and appreciative of another culture, like things that we have in common, things that we have [that are] different.' Apple Cinemas previews Greece Mall location
ROCHESTER, NY (WROC) – Apple Cinemas gave a sneak peek at its new location at the Mall at Greece Ridge on Wednesday. Workers there said they want to elevate the movie theatre experience, featuring a self-serve popcorn and drinks station, and a full-service bar. The theater also includes Rochester's first screen-x format, with a 270 degree panoramic view, 4K projection lasers and Dolby Atmos immersive sound. 'Greece Ridge Mall seemed like a really great opportunity for us to kind of further grow our footprint here in the New York area. This location in particular had a lot of great opportunities to focus on those premium formats,' said Jessica Robitaille, director of operations for Apple Cinemas at the Mall at Greece Ridge.
