Lucky Louth winner scoops Euromillions prize of €255,000

The quickpick winning ticket was purchased on the day of the draw from the Applegreen on Newfoundwell Road. In addition to the usual €5,000 raffle prize, the Louth winner received an additional prize of €250,000, resulting in total winnings of €255,000, following last night's EuroMillions draw. Typically, every EuroMillions draw produces ten winners of the €5,000 Ireland-Only Raffle prize, but this month players have the chance to win an additional €250,000, with just one more bonus winner for selection this month. Past winners include four people in Dublin, and individual players from Meath, Limerick, Wicklow, and now Louth. The National Lottery is urging all players in the Drogheda area to now check their tickets carefully. The all-important winning number is I-SDL-14299 If you are holding the winning ticket, be sure to contact the National Lottery prize claims team on 1800 666 222 or email claims@ to arrange the collection of your prize. National Lottery spokesperson Emma Monaghan said: 'While there was no winner of last night's EuroMillions jackpot worth €198,011,279, over 59,000 players in Ireland won prizes in the EuroMillions and EuroMillions plus games. 'With one more prize of €255,000 still to be won, the big question is: what county will be next? It could be you.' Nearly 30 cent in every €1 spent on National Lottery games goes back to good causes in the areas of sport, youth, health, welfare, education, arts, heritage and the Irish language. In total, more than €6.5 billion has been raised for good causes since the National Lottery was established 37 years ago. In 2024 alone, €239.3 million was raised for local good causes in communities across Ireland.

Urgent appeal issued to EuroMillions players after punter bags life-changing sum

Irish EuroMillions players are being urged to check their tickets this morning after one lucky punter landed a life-changing six-figure prize in Tuesday night's draw. In total over 59,000 players in Ireland won prizes in last night's EuroMillions and Plus games, including one lucky punter who won a whopping €255,000 after claiming Ireland's eighth EuroMillions Ireland Only Raffle top prize. The Drogheda player was one of 10 winners of the Ireland-Only Raffle in Tuesday's draw. And while that prize is usually worth €5,000, the National Lottery has added an additional prize of €250,000 for one winner of the Ireland-Only Raffle for all nine EuroMillions draws during the month of May. The National Lottery has confirmed that the winning Quick Pick ticket was purchased on the day of the draw from Applegreen on Newfoundwell Road in Greenbatter, Drogheda, Co. Louth. The all-important winning raffle number is I-SDL-14299. Lotto bosses are urging all players in the Drogheda area to check their tickets carefully and if you're holding the winning ticket, be sure to contact the National Lottery prize claims team on 1800 666 222 or email claims@ to arrange the collection of your prize. Emma Monaghan, National Lottery spokesperson, said: 'While there was no winner of last night's EuroMillions jackpot worth €198,011,279, over 59,000 players in Ireland won prizes in the EuroMillions and EuroMillions plus games. "This includes one Raffle Ticket winner: I-SDL-14299 from Drogheda, Co. Louth, who's just scooped a life-enhancing €255,000 in our EuroMillions 'Ireland Only Raffle' special draw." Throughout May, EuroMillions players in Ireland have the chance to win an additional €250,000. This series of special EuroMillions Ireland Only Raffles guarantees players a top up in the prize fund for all nine draws, every Tuesday and Friday, throughout the month. Typically, every EuroMillions draw produces ten winners of the €5,000 Ireland-Only Raffle prize. But this month, one winner in each draw is in line to win a dazzling €250,000 on top of the usual €5,000 Raffle prize. With past winners from Dublin (4), Meath, Limerick, Wicklow, and now Louth, excitement is building head of the final special draw on Friday which will see one more player land the mega €250,000 prize.

The Beloved American Fast Food Chain Opening Its First Location In The Emerald Isle

There are plenty of iconic American chains our neighbors across the pond wish they could get their hands on, and vice versa. The United States can boast the beginnings of Subway and McDonald's, while the United Kingdom can brag about Greggs and Pret A Manger (our number one ranked most popular sandwich chain). Finally, it seems like the luck of the Irish is working in the Emerald Isle's favor, as the citizens of Ireland are about to receive their very first Taco Bell location and all of the glory that comes along with it. That's right, a taste of Tex Mex is coming to the home of Guinness later this summer, with plans for even more Taco Bell restaurants opening around the country over the next five years. There's no official word about where the fast food chain will open, but customers can expect to find it at one of the 200 various Applegreen service stations, as the two recently signed a partnership agreement. The expansion of the popular chain is just one step in Applegreen's €1 billion plan to grow business throughout the U.K., Ireland, and the U.S. Read more: 11 Mexican Restaurant Chains, Ranked Worst To Best There are currently no other Taco Bell locations in Ireland, but there are over 100 locations scattered around the U.K. The British didn't start seeing Crunchwrap Supremes until the 2010s, when the first restaurant opened at Lakeside Shopping Center in Essex. Before this, Taco Bells were introduced to the U.K. in the 1980s, but the few locations that opened all shut down simultaneously after a few years. The chain currently operates over 8,700 locations across 26 countries around the globe, though the mega-popular Mexican-inspired restaurant has its roots back in sunny Downey, California (and in case you're curious, here's everything that was on Taco Bell's opening day menu). It's been an exciting year for the Irish public when it comes to trying American foods, seeing as Applegreen also recently opened Ireland's first Chick-fil-A location in County Down a few months ago. There are other quick service Mexican chains in Ireland — such as Chipotle, Boojum, and Zambrero — but many Irish citizens have yet to taste a Taco Bell Crispalupa or a Mountain Blast Baja Blast Freeze for themselves. Pretty soon, Irish citizens won't have to stare longingly at a screen dreaming of the day when they can try a Beefy 5-layer Burrito. They'll be able to hop in their cars and head to an Applegreen to grab one any time. Read the original article on Tasting Table.

This Iconic Fast Food Chain Is Finally Firing Up In Ireland

Irish fans of American food are having a great time as of late. After a recent announcement that Popeyes will be opening up its first location in Dublin -- meaning the city will already have one more Popeyes than two U.S. states -- the European country will soon be sporting its first Taco Bell. However, unlike Popeyes, the California-based Taco Bell will not be opening standalone locations just yet. Applegreen -- an Irish gas station chain with nearly 200 locations in the country and over 600 worldwide -- recently announced it will partner with Taco Bell to bring the beloved chain to some of its Irish locations in the coming years. While no exact dates or locations have been announced yet, Taco Bell outlets should start popping up in Applegreen stations sometime this summer. Seamus Stapleton, Applegreen's managing director for the Republic of Ireland, announced the news earlier this week. "We are really excited to announce this partnership to launch the iconic Taco Bell brand in Ireland," Stapleton said (via IrishStar). "This partnership underscores our commitment to bringing world-class roadside hospitality to our customers... I'm sure Irish consumers will be very excited at the arrival of Taco Bell." Read more: Taco Bell's Decades Menu Brings Back Old Faves, And We Ranked Them While Taco Bell's upcoming presence in Ireland in partnership with Applegreen is incredibly exciting, it isn't the first of its kind. Earlier this year, Applegreen partnered with Chick-fil-A to open the chain's first two locations in Northern Ireland (which is technically part of the United Kingdom, not Ireland). As for Taco Bell, the opposite is true -- the new partnership will strictly see the chain pop up in Applegreen locations within Ireland. It's not yet known in what ways the Irish menu will differ from what's currently available in the United States and United Kingdom, but the Chick-fil-A locations at Applegreens in Northern Ireland are known to have smaller menus than other locations worldwide. It's possible you won't be able to get all the fixings of a Taco Bell Cantina when visiting the chain here, but you'll still likely be able to enjoy Taco Bell favorites like the timeless Crunchwrap Supreme.
