WhatsApp for iPad: How to download, sign-in process, and supported features
Meta's instant messaging platform, WhatsApp, now has a dedicated app for Apple iPads. WhatsApp Messenger is officially available for download on iPads via the App Store, offering an interface optimised for the larger screen. The app supports iPadOS multitasking features and works with iPad-specific accessories such as the Apple Magic Keyboard and Apple Pencil. However, it's important to note that WhatsApp for iPad does not function as a standalone app. Instead, it works as a companion to WhatsApp on your smartphone. WhatsApp for iPad: How to download and set up To get started with WhatsApp on your iPad: Open the App Store on your iPad and search for WhatsApp Messenger. Tap Get to download and install the app. Launch the app and tap Continue on the welcome screen. A QR code will be displayed for linking your account. On your smartphone, open WhatsApp and go to Settings (iPhone) or Menu (Android). Tap Linked Devices > Link a Device. Use your phone to scan the QR code displayed on your iPad. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete set-up. Once the link is successful, your WhatsApp chats will sync across both devices. WhatsApp for iPad: Supported features WhatsApp for iPad supports all core messaging and calling features. This includes access to Communities, Channels, and audio or video calls. The app also supports group calls with up to 32 participants. Updates: access to Status and Channels. Calls: start audio/video calls, join calls via link, and use a dialpad. Communities: access joined communities or create a new one. Chats: view and respond to individual and group messages. Settings: edit your WhatsApp profile and preferences. The iPad version features a layout similar to the desktop app, with recent chats on the left and active conversations on the right. Users can also access Meta AI directly from the Search bar at the top of the Chats section.

WhatsApp finally launches an official version for iPads
The wait is (finally) over. There's an official WhatsApp release for Apple iPads. It only took 16 years, as WhatsApp first entered the scene all the way back in 2009. As a matter of fact, the messaging platform predates the iPad itself, which launched in 2010. The iPad offers much more screen real estate than a smartphone, and Meta seems to have made good use of the extra space. The app takes advantage of the tablet's multitasking features like Split View and Slide Over, so users can view multiple apps at once. This lets folks, for instance, browse the web as they chat with a friend. The iPad version of the app also works with Magic Keyboard and Apple Pencil, which should speed up conversations. It allows for video and audio calls with up to 32 people, and integrates with both the front and rear cameras. Just like other versions of WhatsApp, chats sync across devices. WhatsApp for iPad is available right now via the App Store. One down, one to go. We are still waiting for Meta to make a dedicated Instagram app for iPad tablets . Recent reports indicate that the company is actually working on it , after a long 15 years in which we all have had to use a resized iPhone app and pretend we were enjoying ourselves.

WhatsApp for iPad now available on Apple App Store: Check key features here
Meta's instant messaging platform, WhatsApp, now has a dedicated app for Apple iPads. The company has announced that WhatsApp for iPadOS is officially available for download on the Apple App Store for iPads, featuring an interface optimised for the larger display and support for iPad-specific accessories like the Apple Magic Keyboard and Apple Pencil. Previously, WhatsApp on iPad was only accessible via a web-based version that required scanning a QR code using the smartphone app. WhatsApp for iPad: Key features explained Meta said that the dedicated WhatsApp app for iPad brings the platform's core messaging and calling features to the tablet. Users can make audio and video calls with up to 32 participants, and access tools such as screen sharing and the ability to switch between front and rear cameras during calls. To improve the multitasking experience, WhatsApp for iPad supports key iPadOS features including Split View, Slide Over, and Stage Manager. Stage Manager allows users to group apps together, resize app windows, and overlap windows, making it easier to work across multiple tasks simultaneously. However, Stage Manager support will only be available on select iPad models, including the first-generation iPad Pro and newer, as well as the iPad Air M2 and later. Meta said these multitasking features are designed to let users send messages while browsing, or plan group activities while on a call, creating a more seamless experience. Additionally, the app supports iPad accessories like the Magic Keyboard and the Apple Pencil. Other notable additions include multi-device support, which syncs chats across iPhone, Mac, and other devices, as well as Chat Lock, allowing users to protect private conversations with biometric or passcode authentication.

The retailer stocks a selection of Apple iPads for every budget, starting at £10.50 for the latest iPad (2025). This model is powered by Apple's A16 chip, alongside 128GB storage and an 11' Liquid Retina display. Other options include the £17 iPad Air (2025) and £27 iPad Pro (2024), with nothing to pay upfront. These 48-month tablet plans can be upgraded after 36-month, but there is one slight catch. The price quoted is just for the device, meaning each iPad must also be paired with a Sky data SIM ranging from £0 for 100MB to £29 for unlimited. The iPad (2025) is also available to buy outright for £309.97 at Amazon, while Argos and Very offer it for £329. Amazon Fire Max 11 Amazon has dropped the price of a range of its own-brand devices, including £65 off the Fire Max 11, down from £249.99 to £184.99. There's also discounts on the more affordable Fire HD 8 (£69.99) and Fire HD 10 (£109.99). But the Fire Max 11 is said to be Amazon's 'most powerful tablet', boasting an 11' display packed with 2.4 million pixels, a 14-hour battery life and 64GB of storage. It's touted as being 'as thin as a pencil' and crafted with strengthened glass, which Amazon says is 'three times as durable' as the 10th-generation iPad. The Fire Max 11 has earned more than 1,850 five-star reviews, with one saying: 'Amazing tablet. Lovely to read on, can be used in profile or landscape reading, landscape gives you two pages side by side. Also has excellent picture quality and the battery life is incredible.' Another said: 'The Amazon Fire 11 is a great budget option. Its 11' HD screen is good for streaming, reading, and browsing. It's lightweight, sturdy and handles everyday tasks like apps and videos well. The battery lasts all day, and it works smoothly with Alexa and Amazon services.' However, the same buyer added: 'The app store is limited compared to regular Android tablets. If you use Amazon a lot, this tablet offers great value for the price.' Samsung Galaxy Tab A9+ Shoppers looking to upgrade their smartphone can get their hands on a free Samsung Galaxy Tab A9+ worth £259 with orders of the Galaxy S25, S25+ and S25 Ultra from The most affordable option is iD Mobile's £27.99 per month plan on the S25, which comes with 500GB of data and a six-month trial of Google One AI Premium. There is a £49 upfront fee, but at a total cost of £669.76 over 24 months, it's cheaper than buying the S25 outright from Samsung or Amazon, where it costs £799 and £699 respectively. After ordering the handset, shoppers can head to the Samsung website to claim their free tablet on purchases made by June 26. Amazon customers have awarded the Galaxy Tab A9+ a 4.3-star rating, with one saying: 'Great tablet, good size screen, I love it.' Another said: 'The tablet is excellent. Easy to set up and pair with my phone. All apps running flawlessly. For a technophobe that is brilliant.' However, they added: 'Disappointed that a charger plug does not come with the tablet.
