Bahraini Foreign Minister: Bahrain Summit Conveys Messages of Peace and Arab Solidarity

Bahraini Foreign Minister Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani affirmed on Thursday that the Bahrain Summit conveyed clear messages advocating peace and Arab solidarity. Speaking during the preparatory meeting of Arab foreign ministers ahead of the Arab League Council session, Al Zayani stated, 'The Bahrain Summit delivered a message of peace, Arab unity, and a unified stance aimed at safeguarding Arab national security and shared interests. It called for an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, the release of hostages and detainees, an end to the humanitarian crisis, and the establishment of a just and lasting peace in the Middle East.' He emphasized the centrality of the Palestinian cause, rejecting the displacement of Palestinians from their land, and underscored the importance of safeguarding their legitimate rights as guaranteed by international law and relevant resolutions. Al Zayani further noted that the summit adopted key resolutions to enhance Arab cooperation, integration, and solidarity. These included initiatives to convene an international conference to resolve the Palestinian issue, support the recognition of an independent Palestinian state, secure full UN membership for Palestine, and uphold the human rights of those affected by conflicts in the region — including the rights to life, health, education, and access to knowledge. He highlighted Bahrain's commitment to monitoring the coordination and implementation of these resolutions, with the aim of strengthening Arab cooperation at all levels and intensifying joint efforts to confront regional and international challenges, while working towards sustainable peace and prosperity for all the peoples of the region. Al Zayani also noted Bahrain's continued diplomatic engagement with key international countries to articulate the Arab position and garner global support. He pointed out that Bahrain chaired the Arab Ministerial Committee in Support of Palestine, participated in the joint Arab-Islamic Ministerial Committee, and joined the international coalition for the two-state solution led by Saudi Arabia. Additionally, Bahrain co-chaired the Palestine Summit hosted by Egypt, where the Egyptian plan for early recovery and reconstruction in Gaza was endorsed. Reaffirming Bahrain's commitment to the initiatives it proposed during the summit, Al Zayani announced that royal directives had been issued to establish a national committee tasked with following up on the implementation of these initiatives in coordination with the Arab League Secretariat and relevant international organizations. A comprehensive report on Bahrain's efforts has been prepared and submitted to the council for endorsement and further transmission to the League's leadership. Concluding his remarks, Al Zayani said, 'I am pleased to hand over the presidency of the Council to Fuad Hussein, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Iraq,' expressing hope that the summit would yield decisions that strengthen the path of joint Arab action and fulfill the shared aspirations and objectives of the Arab nation.
