Gilbert Arenas On Why You Shouldn't Leave Your Home After 10 PM: "The Worst Cops In The World Are Waiting For You"
Former NBA player Gilbert Arenas is not completely unfamiliar with the law. However, in a recent episode of the "All The Smoke" podcast, Arenas had to share a word of advice for others out there when it comes to stepping out of the house at night. He said: "You should never leave your home after a certain time. It doesn't make sense. There's nothing out there. The worst cops in the world, they log in at 10 pm. They know that's when they s**t happens, that's what they want. So the most aggressive minds are active at that time." "They don't even know the difference between who you are when they pull you over," he added. "So don't even put yourself into situations." Arenas' experience with legal authorities has been viewed as a common occurrence across the United States. Racially motivated acts against minority communities have routinely raised alarms and concerns for people, especially those in relatively impoverished neighborhoods. Arenas, who was born in Tampa, FL, comes from a city where the crime rate is considered higher than the national average. Meanwhile, podcast host Matt Barnes, who was born in Santa Clara, a relatively low-crime-rate area in California, could still resonate with Arenas' train of thought. NBA players, like Jaxson Hayes, have also been victims of police abuse. Hayes, who was being arrested for a domestic dispute, was subjected to excessive force when an LAPD sergeant put his knee on the center's neck for resisting arrest. In this context, several NBA players have had to deal with legal authorities for their actions. Arenas himself is a prime example. While his gun scandal is the story that brought him infamy, Arenas was arrested once while riding a motorcycle without tags. Former NBA player Jerry Stackhouse appeared on the "No Chill" podcast to detail how he bailed his teammate out. Arenas' rule simply highlights the concerns he has for himself and his family. Considering the kind of violence that individuals in minority communities have had to face, even in recent years, the former NBA player has taken a more conservative stance to prevent further harm. In this scenario, Arenas becomes the voice of concern, potentially with reference to his son, Alijah. The Chatsworth High School guard and USC commit was involved in a dangerous car accident that required him to be placed in a medically induced coma to facilitate recovery. Although he made it through and is on track to make a full recovery, Arenas detailed his concerns while detailing the events leading up to the accident in a recent podcast appearance.

Alijah Arenas out of hospital less than 1 week after car crash, family says
Alijah Arenas is out of the hospital less than a week after he was hospitalized following a serious car crash, his family shared in a statement to ESPN on Wednesday. 'While his journey to full recovery is just beginning, his spirit remains strong, and he is surrounded by love and support,' Arenas' family said. Advertisement The family said Arenas, a five-star basketball recruit and University of Southern California commit, will remain 'under close watch' as he recuperates at home. The crash occurred just before 5 a.m. PT on April 24, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department. Arenas was driving his Tesla Cybertruck when it struck a fire hydrant and a tree on his way home from the gym. Arenas' family said a pair of bystanders had to break a cracked window to rescue him. He arrived at the hospital in serious condition, and doctors decided to place Arenas into an induced coma due to smoke inhalation. By the next day, Arenas was conscious and able to write notes, but remained on a ventilator, his family said. Josiah Johnson, the co-host of Arenas' father's YouTube show, announced on behalf of the family Monday that Arenas was walking and talking again. Additionally, he said Arenas suffered no major injuries in the crash. The 18-year-old Arenas is the son of three-time NBA All-Star Gilbert Arenas and reality television personality Laura Goven. 247Sports ranked him as the top high school shooting guard in the country and named him the No. 10 overall recruit in the class of 2025. Arenas averaged 30.9 points, 7.8 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game during his time at Chatsworth High School outside Los Angeles. He scored 11 points during the McDonald's All-American Boys Game in early April.

Family of Alijah Arenas get significant health update after son of ex-NBA star crashed Tesla Cybertruck
Alijah Arenas has been able to walk and talk after a scary car crash last week set his Tesla Cybertruck on fire and briefly left him in an induced coma, it has been reported. Alijah, 18, broke no bones in the accident according to ESPN, though he inhaled a significant amount of smoke. Now, the teen's family have told TMZ that he was able to walk on his own and speak with his parents, Laura Govan and former Wizards guard Gilbert Arenas. However, a representative for the family stressed that Alijah 'still has a long road to recovery.' 'Alijah remains hospitalized under close observation, with additional testing still underway,' a statement reads. 'The families continue to ask for privacy and ongoing prayers during this critical time.' The statement from Arenas' family followed an update from Arenas' podcast co-host, Josiah Johnson, on Monday. Alijah is a prestigious high school basketball player who has committed to play at USC 'Happy to announce that Alijah is doing much better,' Johnson said on Gil's Arena, before adding that he had spoken with Arenas and that Alijah 'should be released from the hospital very soon.' Johnson also said that Alijah was walking and talking and relayed that the rising basketball star had not suffered any major injuries. The family said after the crash that some Good Samaritans had helped Alijah out of the burning car, with TMZ later reporting that responders arrived to the scene at 4:55am on Thursday. The outlet later reported that that investigators did not see any signs of intoxication in Alijah after he was pulled from the burning car. Investigators reportedly visited Alijah at the hospital but they did not take his blood for testing and as of Saturday, no criminal investigation was ongoing. Police are said to believe that speed was the principal factor behind the crash, which did not involve any other vehicles. Notably, some models of the Cybertruck can go from 0-60mph in less than three seconds. The son of former NBA star Gilbert, Alijah is a five-star basketball prospect committed to play at USC next season. He played in the McDonald's All-American Game - which features the top prospects in the country - earlier this month on April 1. His father, nicknamed 'Agent Zero,' was a three-time All-Star for the Wizards, as he averaged 25 points per game in 357 games for the franchise.

Alijah Arenas, star USC recruit and son of Gilbert Arenas, placed in induced coma after serious crash involving a Cybertruck, report says
Alijah Arenas, the son of former NBA player Gilbert Arenas, is in a coma after suffering a car crash involving a Tesla Cybertruck on Tuesday. Arenas was in the vehicle when the car lost control near the corner of Corbin Avenue and Blythe Street in the San Fernando Valley around 4.56am, according to the Los Angeles Times. The Cybertruck reportedly struck a tree and a fire hydrant. Arenas, 18, was transported to a nearby hospital after officials pulled him from the wreckage. He's currently in stable condition. Drugs and alcohol did not play a factor in the crash, the outlet reported. ESPN was the first to report on the crash and Arenas' condition. Officials later took the car to a tow yard, where it burst into flames. A Fire Hazard Mat team responded to an incident involving hazardous materials. The teenager is a star basketball player at Chatsworth High School and is a member of USC 's incoming class. He led his high school to the CIF Division II state championship game in March. He left the institution as the all-time City Section scoring leader, with over 3,000 points and is a top-10 recruit in the university's incoming class. The teen's mother asked her Instagram followers for their prayers earlier in the day and his father cancelled plans to host his online show. The university declined to comment on Arenas' condition because he's a prospective student and has not formally joined the basketball team. He was set to play a major role for the Trojans and had recently turned down offers from Kentucky, Kansas and Arizona.
