British car showrooms may feature AI-powered robots as salesmen soon
Robots powered by AI could soon be selling cars to customers in the UK as a global car manufacturer debuts an unusual new member of staff. Omoda and Jaecoo owner Chery has showed off robotic sales assistant 'Mornine' at the Shangai Motor Show on 23 April. It can greet customers, show them around a car, and even make them a tea or coffee. The AI robot uses machine learning to improve its performance, learning from interactions with customers. It has been trialled in showrooms in Malaysia and could soon be rolled out worldwide, a spokesperson for Chery said. The car maker added that Mornine has capabilities including perception, cognition, decision making and task execution and explained the 'ideal use case' was for 'dealer-level admin and service.' The car brand's robotics experts said Mornine uses speech and vision inputs that allow it to 'accurately interpret commands including physical gestures'. Ian Wallace, spokesperson for Chery's Omoda and Jaecoo brands in the UK, said Mornine could even be offered for use in people's homes in the future if showroom trials go well. He said: 'Mornine is an intelligent showroom aid. She can show customers around a vehicle, she can answer questions and she can make teas and coffees, so in a busy showroom environment, if staff are tied up, she's there to be a helpful face of the brand. 'She has learning capabilities so she can react to commands and learn your voice so if you were to use her in a household environment she would start to learn what you like and don't like.' Chery said the robot uses 'automotive-grade hardware' to allow it to walk upright and it has 'dexterous hands' to allow it to grip items. It can also distinguish between voices to identify different customers. The car maker also showcased a robotic dog called 'Argos' at the Shanghai show. They say the AI-powered animal is designed to offer companionship to those who are unable to keep real pets at home. The Independent

People who love coffee need Dunelm's £15 gadget that 'saves a fortune'
The kitchen appliance is a must-have for any coffee lover and is now half price while stocks last In the face of expensive takeaway coffees, now averaging above £3.35, savvy shoppers are turning into at-home baristas to save a few pounds in the bank balance without sacrificing their daily caffeine fix. Luckily, Dunelm has an affordable offer on a must-have item for any coffee lover. Originally on the shelves for £30, Dunelm's Milk Frother with 4 Functions is now only £15 - half its usual price - while stocks last. It's part of the bargain sale happening at Dunelm, where prices have been slashed across a range of household items, ensuring coffee drinkers needn't miss out on a barista-style brew at home. Swap out the café queues and make your very own foamy delights right in your kitchen with this nifty tool's four different settings - be it hot and thick or cool foam you're after. The wireless feature makes it even easier to set up at your at-home coffee station. Dunelm claimed online: "Embrace the art of frothy beverages with our Milk Frother, a modern marvel designed to perfection. Its stainless steel interior ensures durability and easy cleaning, whilst the plastic exterior adds a contemporary flair." Whilst there's a variety of milk frothers available on the internet, such as the Panana Milk Frother from Amazon for £15.99 or Argos' Salter Chocolatier Milk Frother and Hot Chocolate Maker at £40, Dunelm's version is proving popular, reports Belfast Live. Shoppers are praising the Dunelm deal, with nearly 50 reviews, including many that give a perfect five-star score. One said: "It makes the best hot chocolates, coffee and foamed milk!" And, another shared: "This little mini kettle is fab for making frothy, creamy milk for the top of your hot and cold coffee. It makes your at-home coffee feel extra special whenever you like!" Somebody else added: "A very quiet, quick machine, extremely easy to operate. We've been able to make lovely lattes using the frothy milk from this machine to add to cafetiere coffee and syrup. "The money it has saved us on trips to Costa/Starbucks is incredible - and the lattes taste just as good. So much better than a coffee machine with its expensive pods that only makes one cup at a time." However, not everyone found Dunelm's machine to be a great purchase. Some customers mentioned that the milk may "burn on the bottom" which led to the device becoming "hard to clean" whilst a couple of people found that it struggled to produce a "decent foam" when using non-dairy alternatives like oat or soya milk. But, an happier customer posted: "This is the best [money] I've ever spent. It's like going to the coffee shop but much cheaper!" Another wrote: "Easy to use and now I can enjoy lovely creamy coffee at home without spending a fortune at coffee shops. Very good value for money." There was another comment claiming: "This saves me a fortune on takeaway coffees!" And, a fourth added: "Excellent item, froths and heats milk much better than my previous one."

Argos' iPhone sale could convince fans to upgrade as £200 cut
Argos' tech sale means Apple fans can get this iPhone model for £200 less than its launch price Apple iPhone's are considered by many to be one of the best smartphones money can buy, and when it comes to upgrading to the brand's flagship iPhone 16 range there's plenty of deals to go buy. However, at a starting price of £799 the model doesn't fall within everyone's budget, not forgetting the iPhone 16 Pro Max which costs as much as £1,599. Scrimping on some of the most recent features and picking a slightly older model is how tech-savvy fans can get around the prices, like the iPhone 15. And we may have found the best price. We've spotted an Argos deal selling the iPhone 15 model for one of the cheapest rates yet, and it comes with a free VOXI Mobile SIM. Now £599, the standard 128GB device is £200 cheaper than its original launch price of £799, thanks to the retailer's ongoing flurry of price drops. Despite being overtaken by the current flagship iPhone 16 range, the iPhone 15 is still considered to be a handset worthwhile. Launched in 2024 it's software is up to date and is fully compatible with the newest iOS 18. It has a versatile camera system and quick speeds that make it a quality device. The only downside to getting an iPhone 15, which will be a big factor for some, is its lower refresh rate. The model only has a 60Hz display, the iPhone 16 has a 120Hz - which helps give smoother motion and prevent blurring. 128GB iPhone 15 £799 £599 Argos Buy Here Product Description In the last few weeks Argos has dropped a lot of tech prices with big named brands like Apple, Samsung, and LG taking front stage. Other deals include the Samsung Galaxy tablets, like this Tab A9+ that's discounted by 10% off when shoppers use the hidden code. To put into perspective how good Argos' price is, Amazon is currently selling the iPhone 15 for £698. Although as the Prime retailer has third-party sellers there are a few deals priced in the £500 mark, but they don't come from the official Apple storefront. Elsewhere, and one for shoppers who'd prefer not to fork out hundreds of pounds at once then there's mobile contracts. We'd pick Sky Mobile for this, as it offers the handset for £19 per month, and with no upfront fees. This is a device only price, so shoppers will need to factor in data costs on top. Across its 36-month contract this will cost £684 overall. In line with Amazon's £100 off price, not as cheap as Argos' price.

Amazon shoppers hail 'easy to build' 4-piece patio furniture set now 37% off
"If I was able to put it together, and being an 80 year old female, it must be a doddle for a younger person." Scots have been enjoying some much-needed sun lately, as temperatures soared last week. In fact, the mercury reached a peak of 24.4C in Aboyne in Aberdeenshire last Wednesday, April 30, on the hottest day of the year so far. It's safe to say that summer is officially on the way, and with it comes the urge to revamp garden furniture. Shoppers browsing a new patio furniture set need look no further than a generously discounted four-piece suite on Amazon. The online retailer's Bigzzia Rattan Garden Furniture Set is currently on an offer of 37 per cent off, with its price tag slashed from a steep £179.99 to much more affordable £113.04. The black four-piece patio set includes a stylish wicker sofa, two armchairs, and a table. This Rattan Garden Furniture Set can be used both indoors and outdoors, and its classic rattan weave texture blends perfectly with most styles of home. The design of this rattan furniture "blends country chic and modern minimalism", according to Amazon, to add an elegant touch to the garden. The table top is made of high-quality strong glass, made to last well on rainier or windier days - which of course are common in Scotland. Its table and chairs come complete with water-proof cushions, which are also perfect for resisting temperamental Scottish weather or drink spillages. But those in the market for alternatives to Amazon's set may be intrigued by Argos' Home Four Seater Rattan Effect Garden Sofa Set for a pricier £320. While more expensive, this four-seater sofa boasts a classy look and includes back cushions, which the Amazon option is lacking. However, this product is lacking the chairs and table offered by Amazon's four-piece set. Shoppers after a more budget-friendly option may opt for the Home Cento 2 Seater Rattan Effect Garden Bistro Set, also from Argos. While this set only includes two chairs and a small table, it's cheaper than either other option at just £99. But it can't be doubted that customers are loving the four-piece Amazon option, as it boasts a strong 4.4 out of five-star rating. One happy customer said: "Very sturdy, easy to move, may need two to put together but did manage by myself with a drill as it's all put together with an allen key. "Alignment is good. No missing parts. Looks good put together and fits where it needs to. Great value for money." Another pleased shopper said: "Great wee set. Sofa nice and big. Two chairs are larger than "normal" a bit thin but like most other sets. Fab buy for the price. I bought back cushions and it's gorgeous. "Built it myself in about 50 mins. It does say 2 people but it can be done easily with one. Alan key wears out towards the end but for the money worth buying." But other shoppers weren't so pleased, with one describing the set as "awful to put together". Another was unimpressed with the set's quality, saying: "It is cheap and I suppose I got what I paid for." But others were left impressed with the product, as another positive review said: "Really pleased with this set of garden furniture. If I was able to put it together, and being an 80 year old female, it must be a doddle for a younger person." Shoppers can purchase the rattan four-piece set on Amazon here.
