Small West Lothian town rally together to save Galaday after vandals strike
A small West Lothian town have come together to save their local Galaday after thoughtless youth vandals caused thousands in damage. Residents of Armadale were devastated when several rented items were damaged by a handful of youths at the Galaday in June 2025. Fears were raised that next year's big celebration would be hampered when the committee for the event found out their insurance could not cover the damage. Brenda Spalding, a member of the Armadale Galaday committee, said: "The Galaday committee and community in Armadale were deeply disappointed that a few youths caused so much damage to rented property during our Galaday week. "The damage was assessed at a total cost of around £3000, although we have insurance it sadly wouldn't cover acts of vandalism. "To ensure the children next year weren't disadvantaged, this year's crowner set up a fundraising page which has now surpassed the £3000 we needed. "The whole committee have been overwhelmed by the financial support our brilliant community in Armadale have given. "This shows true community spirit and that the acts of a few won't deter the Galaday. Wayne Carey questioned after opting to ‘out himself' in latest scandal
Questions have been raised about Wayne Carey's decision to make his latest scandal public knowledge in a chat with Sam Newman. Carey, 54, has been left seething after he was filmed walking out of a bathroom in an alleged toilet tryst at Toorak Cellars in Armadale last Friday. FOX FOOTY, available on Kayo Sports, is the only place to watch every match of every round in the 2025 Toyota AFL Premiership Season LIVE in 4K, with no ad-breaks during play. New to Kayo? As the recording unfolds, one voice behind the camera can be heard saying 'she looks embarrassed' before a second ponders 'what's he doing in there?'. Carey and the woman in the video have both hit out at the footage, with the premiership winner demanding action and labelling it cyber-bullying. Watch the viral Wayne Carey footage in the video player above Entertainment reporter Peter Ford has questioned the decision to bring the incident further into the public consciousness, labelling it 'an interesting choice' in a chat with radio station 3AW Melbourne. 'This 'toilet-gate' scandal if you like, is it a scandal or is it completely blown up out of all proportion?' Ford asked. 'Wayne Carey decided to out himself, which I thought was an interesting choice, he didn't have to do that and the story probably would've been dead by now. 'If you can't use names, the story kind of peters out. But in this case, Wayne did decide to do it and of course Wayne has got a track record of bad behaviour in the past. 'He's on the defence now and come out fighting with this case.' Ford went on to say most people would think 'only two things' could be happening in the unisex bathroom and then joined Carey in slamming the action of the women that filmed the incident. 'Two women were there and for whatever reason, they must've been having a very dull night, decided they would film the two people,' he said. 'Wayne is demanding action, going to police, calling in lawyers, AFL Players' Association, he really is fighting back on this one. 'If I was running Toorak Cellars, I certainly would be banning those two women. 'If they're regular patrons I would be saying 'please don't come back', because to me it crosses a line. 'We have no evidence that anything untoward was happening between those two people.' Carey, a great of the North Melbourne footy club, has a horror track record of incidents away from the playing arena. The most famous was his affair with former teammate Anthony Stevens' then-wife Kelli, which led to Carey's sacking from the Kangaroos. He has also been hit with indecent assault, domestic violence and misdemeanour battery allegations, along with issues with drugs and alcohol, and has been sacked from a number of media roles. Just last month Carey was filmed in an altercation with a man outside a Melbourne pub. Ford conceded it was an unpopular opinion, but was opting to support Carey in this latest incident. 'Sometimes it's not a popular stance to back Wayne Carey, but in this particular case, my gut feeling is he and the mystery woman are the innocent party,' he said. 'Unfortunately, it's the curse of anyone in the public eye these days, everyone now is an amateur paparazzi and that's fine, wanting to get selfies and all that. 'But the problem is people also love making moral judgements about famous people and what they're doing wrong and might be up to behind closed doors and I think this is a classic case of that.' Carey spoke about the footage with Newman, confirming he had been in contact with Victoria Police and the AFL Players' Association. 'Annoyed is the wrong word, I've gone through 10 different emotions in the last three days,' he said on Newman's podcast. 'One has been disbelief, that's not an emotion, but I've gone through disbelief, sadness, I've gone through anger. 'I've had empathy, I've had all sorts of things go through this body and this mind. 'This woman has been thrown into this just because I could kick a footy. And you've got two vile, disturbing women who want to do this to another woman. 'That's all they were doing, they were slut-shaming another woman. 'If two men had done that they would be raked over hot coals, it would be the biggest story going around if that had occurred. 'But because it's two women doing it to another woman … you don't know what's going on, this other woman has had all sorts of stuff going in her life I've since found out.' The former North Melbourne captain said he and his partner, Jessica Paulke, had been in contact with the woman in the video and they had all teamed up to hold those behind the footage accountable. 'I know who they are, the police know who they are, my lawyers know who they are. I have contacted these people just like the footballers have contacted these people because they've been abused online,' he said. 'You talk about vile and disgusting, what they have done and who they have affected by a few s**ts and giggles drinking their chardonnay sitting up there doing whatever. 'Once again I'm not going to name them because that would be as pathetic as what they are. I'll let the law take care of it.' The woman in the footage has also come out and condemned the actions of those who filmed the moment and shared it online. 'Shame on you women, we are better than that,' she said on social media. 'It did not happen, but that's not the point. It's time this narrative changed.'

‘I know who they are': Wayne Carey blows up over viral toilet footage

'Annoyed is the wrong word, I've gone through 10 different emotions in the last three days. One has been disbelief, that's not an emotion, but I've gone through disbelief, sadness, I've gone through anger,' Carey said on Newman's You Cannot be Serious podcast. 'I've had empathy, I've had all sorts of things go through this body and this mind. 'This woman has been thrown into this just because I could kick a footy. The former North Melbourne icon said his partner, Jessica Paulke, have been in contact with the woman in the video and they had teamed up to hold those behind the footage accountable. 'I know who they are, the police know who they are, my lawyers know who they are. 'Once again I'm not going to name them because that would be as pathetic as what they are. I'll let the law take care of it.' Carey said what had happened should be looked at on the same level as when racist abuse is directed at players. 'It's gone through my mind a million times, 'what did they want to achieve?',' Carey said. 'What middle aged women would want to sit and film someone and for what purpose? But then make up a story about what occurred. 'If they really wanted to ruin someone's life they could have contacted Jess personally and said 'guess what I've just seen your partner come out of a toilet and a female came out 30 seconds in between so therefore they must have been doing something in that toilet together'. 'If that's what they wanted to do, if they wanted to ruin my life and her life and ruin my kids' lives, why didn't they just do that' Carey said he would be following through 'to the enth degree' to ensure a penalty is handed down. 'I could sit there and film people going in and out of toilets. Who does she think she is, Morgan Freeman narrating a wild life (documentary)? (She said) 'I heard people grunting like pigs'. Completely made up crap. 'These two women think it's OK to film her and slut shame her online and post it online. What sort of penalty should these two women get? 'We are speaking and we will follow this through to the enth degree. I'm blown away that women in their 40s could think this was a good idea. How would they explain this to their children? 'This is women being cruel to another woman. They have shamed another woman and it is so wrong. It happens far too often and it doesn't get called out. Men do it and it gets called out as it should. Let's see where this goes to from here.' The woman in the footage has also come out and condemned the actions of those who filmed the moment and shared it online. 'Shame on you women, we are better than that,' she said on social media. 'It did not happen, but that's not the point. It's time this narrative changed.'

BREAKING NEWS Wayne Carey outs himself as the footy star in 'wine bar toilet' viral video everyone in Melbourne is talking about - as he furiously slams women who filmed it: 'S**t shaming'
Footy great Wayne Carey has confessed he is the man shown in a viral video that allegedly featured a man and woman emerging from a bathroom after a sexual encounter in a trendy Melbourne bar. The North Melbourne premiership winner said he has contacted police in an effort to have the people who filmed and distributed the video held accountable. The footage, which was taken at the Toorak Cellars bar in Armadale - shows Carey and the unnamed woman walking into view around 20 seconds apart. A woman's voice is heard saying 'we've got you on camera' as the woman walks past, before asking 'What's he doing in there?' and remarking, 'She looks embarrassed.' Carey and the woman depicted in the clip - which has been doing the rounds on social media over the last few days - have lashed out furiously over the video, with the ex-AFL star branding it 's**t shaming' and cyberbullying and both parties insisting there was no 'tryst' in the toilets. 'Annoyed is the wrong word, I've gone through about 10 different emotions in the last three days,' he said on the You Cannot Be Serious podcast. 'I've gone through disbelief, sadness, I've gone through anger. 'This woman has been thrown into this just because I could kick a footy. 'And you've got two vile, disturbing, probably p**sed women who want to do this to another woman. 'That's all they were doing, they were s**t-shaming another woman. 'If two men had done that they would be raked over hot coals, it would be the biggest story going around. 'But because it's two women doing it to another woman … you don't know what's going on, this other woman has had all sorts of stuff going in her life, I've since found out. 'You talk about vile and disgusting, what they've done and who they have affected by a few sh**s and giggles drinking their chardonnay, sitting up there, doing whatever. 'Once again, I'm not going to name them because that would be as pathetic as what they are. I'll let the law take care of it.' The AFL great (pictured with Jessica Paulke) revealed he has contacted police about the footag and is now going to 'let the law take care of it' Carey also said his partner Jessica Paulke had spoken to the woman in the footage to support her in her efforts to have the people who filmed the video held accountable. Paulke also messaged the people behind the filming and distribution of the video, warning that she and Carey had 'contacted esafety commission to have this content removed'. The woman shown in the footage also lashed out on social media. 'Shame on you women, we are better than that,' she wrote. 'It [a tryst] did not happen, but that's not the point. It's time that narrative changed.' Carey added that one of the women's claim that she heard people 'grunting like pigs' just before the video was taken is 'completely made-up crap' and said they were warned not to post the video on social media. 'This other woman has had an horrific few months. She's lost her parents, she's split up from a partner and these two women think it's OK to film her and slut shame her online and post it online,' he said. 'What sort of penalty should these two women get? 'We [he and the woman in the video] are speaking and we will follow this through to the nth degree. 'I'm blown away that women in their 40s could think this was a good idea. 'How would they explain this to their children?'
