"My Best Friend's Wedding" Sequel in Works
Yara Sameh A sequel to the Julia Roberts romantic comedy 'My Best Friend's Wedding' is in early development at Sony Pictures. The studio has tapped 'Materialists' and 'Past Lives' writer-director Celine Song to pen a screenplay for the follow-up, though she is not in talks to helm the feature. The development comes shortly after Dermot Mulroney, who starred alongside Roberts in the 1997 original directed by P.J. Hogan, teased that 'there is talk of a sequel' to the New York Post . The actor was promoting his new Netflix series 'The Hunting Wives' when asked about the potential for a follow-up, saying 'I know nothing about it. Last I heard, quote, lawyers were talking, unquote.' Song just bowed her sophomore directorial effort 'Materialists,' released by A24 in June. The love triangle rom-com, starring Dakota Johnson, Chris Evans and Pedro Pascal, earned $50 million at the global box office. Her debut feature, 'Past Lives,' earned $42 million globally and scored Oscar nominations for original screenplay and best picture. Song is also an acclaimed playwright and is currently developing an e-sports drama series, titled 'Damage,' for HBO. The original 'My Best Friend's Wedding' starred Roberts as a food critic who discovers that her longtime peer, played by Mulroney, is planning to get married. The two had vowed to get hitched with each other if they each remained unmarried by the ripe old age of 28. Realizing she is in love, Roberts' character plans to sabotage the event. The film also starred Cameron Diaz and Rupert Everett. 'My Best Friend's Wedding' was a box office hit upon release in the summer of 1997, earning $127 million in North America and ranking as the ninth-highest grossing domestic release of the year. The film earned three Golden Globe nominations — in best musical and comedy and acting nods for Roberts and Everett — and has endured as one of the more beloved titles from Roberts' romantic comedy run through the '90s. In 2022, "My Best Friend's Wedding" was ranked on Variety's 100 greatest movies of all time. read more New Tourism Route To Launch in Old Cairo Ahmed El Sakka-Led Play 'Sayidati Al Jamila' to Be Staged in KSA on Dec. 6 Mandy Moore Joins Season 2 of "Dr. Death" Anthology Series Don't Miss These Movies at 44th Cairo Int'l Film Festival Today Amr Diab to Headline KSA's MDLBEAST Soundstorm 2022 Festival Arts & Culture Mai Omar Stuns in Latest Instagram Photos Arts & Culture "The Flash" to End with Season 9 Arts & Culture Ministry of Culture Organizes four day Children's Film Festival Arts & Culture Canadian PM wishes Muslims Eid-al-Adha News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters Arts & Culture "Jurassic World Rebirth" Gets Streaming Date News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier News Ayat Khaddoura's Final Video Captures Bombardment of Beit Lahia Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Business Egyptian Pound Undervalued by 30%, Says Goldman Sachs Arts & Culture South Korean Actress Kang Seo-ha Dies at 31 after Cancer Battle Arts & Culture Lebanese Media: Fayrouz Collapses after Death of Ziad Rahbani Sports Get to Know 2025 WWE Evolution Results

Pixar's "Hoppers" Unveils First Look
Yara Sameh Pixar has unveiled the official teaser trailer for its upcoming animated feature 'Hoppers.' 'Hoppers' are a group of scientists who have discovered a way to mind-hop into robot animal bodies. So when Mabel (Piper Curda), an animal lover, learns that a construction company wants to destroy the local animal habitat, she uses the clever new technology to inhabit the body of a beaver. Speaking with Variety, director Daniel Chong said the whole discussion had been debated about unveiling the 'Avatar' joke in the trailer. 'I think there are a couple of reasons why it was good to just put it out there. One is to let you know we know that, you know, it's quite similar, at least the premise sounds a lot like 'Avatar.'' Chong noted that the idea is to let audiences know the movie's premise will be 'a little bit crazy. There are going to be things that are a little bit tongue-in-cheek, and it's going to be out there and chaotic.' The trailer shows Mabel, after she's mind-hopped and is now the robot beaver, suddenly aware that she can understand other animals as Missy Elliot's 'Lose Control' song plays. Bobby Moynihan and Jon Hamm are among the voice cast. Hamm plays Mayor Jerry, the one trying to destroy the animals' habitat. And Hamm seemed like the perfect casting choice. 'That guy is hilarious,' Chong said. 'People know him from 'Mad Men,' but his comedy chops are incredible. And to be honest, he's very brave when it comes to comedy.' Chong promises, 'We have him do some pretty crazy stuff in our movies.' Moynihan is an animation superstar and 'Saturday Night Live' alum. He most recently delivered the voice for Forgetter Bobby in Pixar's 'Inside Out 2.' Chong added, 'Having worked with Bobby already, I felt so lucky to be able to slip back into that relationship and pick up where we left off. He's just so naturally funny and charming and sweet. I would just say across the board, everyone on our cast is really funny.' Curda, who voices Mabel, is a former Disney Channel actor who appeared in multiple episodes of the 2013-214 series 'A.N.T Farm.' She also featured in multiple episodes of the 2018-2022 CW superhero series 'Legacies. There is more voice casting yet to be announced. Chong promises, 'Hoppers' will have 'all the hallmarks of a Pixar movie.' He adds, It will be emotional, and it will be sincere, and it will be a big movie. But I think for me, I wanted comedy to be on a high level as we could.' 'Hoppers' will be released in theaters on March 6, 2026. read more New Tourism Route To Launch in Old Cairo Ahmed El Sakka-Led Play 'Sayidati Al Jamila' to Be Staged in KSA on Dec. 6 Mandy Moore Joins Season 2 of "Dr. Death" Anthology Series Don't Miss These Movies at 44th Cairo Int'l Film Festival Today Amr Diab to Headline KSA's MDLBEAST Soundstorm 2022 Festival Arts & Culture Mai Omar Stuns in Latest Instagram Photos Arts & Culture "The Flash" to End with Season 9 Arts & Culture Ministry of Culture Organizes four day Children's Film Festival Arts & Culture Canadian PM wishes Muslims Eid-al-Adha News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier Sports Former Al Zamalek Player Ibrahim Shika Passes away after Long Battle with Cancer Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Arts & Culture South Korean Actress Kang Seo-ha Dies at 31 after Cancer Battle News "Tensions Escalate: Iran Probes Allegations of Indian Tech Collaboration with Israeli Intelligence" News Flights suspended at Port Sudan Airport after Drone Attacks Arts & Culture Hawass Foundation Launches 1st Course to Teach Ancient Egyptian Language Videos & Features Video: Trending Lifestyle TikToker Valeria Márquez Shot Dead during Live Stream

Ariana Grande, Josh Gad to Lead "Oh, the Places You'll Go!" Animated Movie
Yara Sameh Ariana Grande and Josh Gad will lend their voices to the film adaptation of 'Oh, The Places You'll Go.' Based on the Dr. Seuss classic, the animated musical will be directed by 'Wicked' filmmaker Jon M. Chu and Jill Culton. Warner Bros. will release the movie on March 17, 2028. Plot details haven't been revealed, so it's unclear how the film will take inspiration from the beloved picture book. 'Oh, The Places You'll Go!' revolves around a young adventurer navigating the ups and downs of life and offers inspirational messages to readers like, 'You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose.' With those platitudes, the book has become a popular gift for graduates or anyone at an inflection point. Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, the duo behind 'Dear Evan Hansen' and 'The Greatest Showman,' are writing original songs for the big-screen adaptation. Additional cast members — likely many of whom can also carry a tune — will be announced at a later date. This project reunites Chu with Grande, the star of 'Wicked: Part One.' She'll reprise her role as Glinda the Good, alongside Cynthia Erivo's Elphaba, in 'Wicked: For Good' on November 21. The Grammy winner and Oscar nominee was also recently cast in 'Meet the Parents 4' opposite Ben Stiller and Robert De Niro. Gad is best known for voicing Olaf in the 'Frozen' franchise and originating the role of Elder Cunningham in Broadway's enduring hit 'The Book of Mormon.' He also played LeFou in Disney's live-action 'Beauty and the Beast' remake. Chu has previously teamed with Warner Bros. on 'Crazy Rich Asians' and 'In the Heights.' The director has attached his name to dozens of film projects at the moment, including a 'Hot Wheels' live-action adventure, a Play Doh animated feature, a Britney Spears biopic and another stage-to-screen musical in 'Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.' read more New Tourism Route To Launch in Old Cairo Ahmed El Sakka-Led Play 'Sayidati Al Jamila' to Be Staged in KSA on Dec. 6 Mandy Moore Joins Season 2 of "Dr. Death" Anthology Series Don't Miss These Movies at 44th Cairo Int'l Film Festival Today Amr Diab to Headline KSA's MDLBEAST Soundstorm 2022 Festival Arts & Culture Mai Omar Stuns in Latest Instagram Photos Arts & Culture "The Flash" to End with Season 9 Arts & Culture Ministry of Culture Organizes four day Children's Film Festival Arts & Culture Canadian PM wishes Muslims Eid-al-Adha News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier Sports Former Al Zamalek Player Ibrahim Shika Passes away after Long Battle with Cancer Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt News "Tensions Escalate: Iran Probes Allegations of Indian Tech Collaboration with Israeli Intelligence" News Flights suspended at Port Sudan Airport after Drone Attacks Arts & Culture Hawass Foundation Launches 1st Course to Teach Ancient Egyptian Language Arts & Culture South Korean Actress Kang Seo-ha Dies at 31 after Cancer Battle Videos & Features Video: Trending Lifestyle TikToker Valeria Márquez Shot Dead during Live Stream
