TikTok Expands Accessibility With AI ALT Text
Israa Farhan TikTok has announced a significant expansion of its accessibility offerings, introducing AI-generated ALT text for photos, a new high-contrast mode, and support for device-level bold text preferences. These updates are designed to enhance the app's usability for individuals with visual impairments and broader accessibility needs. The newly introduced AI-generated ALT text aims to improve the experience for screen reader users by automatically providing spoken descriptions of images when creators do not manually input them. This innovation follows similar developments by platforms such as Instagram, which has used AI-generated ALT text since 2018. Alongside this, TikTok has unveiled a high-contrast mode, accessible via the app's accessibility settings. This feature heightens the foreground colour of text, icons, and interface elements, catering to users with low vision or those who experience difficulty with low-contrast visuals. In addition, TikTok now honours a device's system-wide bold text setting. When enabled, this option automatically renders all in-app text in bold, improving readability for users who prefer or depend on enhanced font clarity. These enhancements join TikTok's growing suite of inclusive tools, which already includes auto-captioning, dark mode, text-to-speech functionality, and scalable text size adjustments. read more UAE's Lunar Mission Delayed to Tomorrow Twitter Lifts Trump's Account Ban Scientists Find Evidence Of 10،000 Black Holes Surrounding The Center Of The Milky Way Galaxy Greenhouse In Antarctica Able To Grow Vegetables Without Soil Or Sunlight Moving Over China: U.S. Is Again Home to World's Speediest Supercomputer Technology The 10 most expensive cars in the world Technology Top 10 fastest cars in the world Technology Lasers Could Make Computers 1 Million Times Faster Technology Smart technology taking control of our lives News Egypt confirms denial of airspace access to US B-52 bombers Lifestyle Pistachio and Raspberry Cheesecake Domes Recipe News Ayat Khaddoura's Final Video Captures Bombardment of Beit Lahia News Australia Fines Telegram $600,000 Over Terrorism, Child Abuse Content Arts & Culture Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban's $4.7M LA Home Burglarized Sports Former Al Zamalek Player Ibrahim Shika Passes away after Long Battle with Cancer Sports Neymar Announced for Brazil's Preliminary List for 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers News Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly Inaugurates Two Indian Companies Arts & Culture New Archaeological Discovery from 26th Dynasty Uncovered in Karnak Temple Business Fear & Greed Index Plummets to Lowest Level Ever Recorded amid Global Trade War

Maroon 5 Teams Up With Blackpink's Lisa for New Single "Priceless"
Yara Sameh Maroon 5 has returned with a major pop collaboration. On Friday, the Adam Levine-fronted band dropped their latest single 'Priceless' featuring Blackpink's Lisa. The track, released via 222/Interscope Records, marks Maroon 5's first-ever collaboration with a K-pop artist and offers a nod to the band's early 2000s roots. The accompanying visual was shot on 35mm film by Aerin Moreno and draws inspiration from Mr. & Mrs. Smith. 'It's just a guitar-based song which we haven't really done in so long. It happened first for us while we were recording the album. I think it's just the purest and we are so happy to have LISA on it,' frontman Levine said in a statement. He added, 'The guitar intro is literally me playing into an audio message on my iPhone with an unplugged guitar. I actually got a little emotional recording 'cause it was sort of reconnecting to our roots, which a lot of our fans have been saying 'hey we want to hear that sound again.' It's been like over 20 years so I think it's time for that to return.' In the days leading up to the confirmation of 'Priceless,' Maroon 5 previewed on Instagram a teaser of Levine's falsetto vocals alongside a rap verse from LISA: 'Yeah, talk is cheap boy stop it/ Got my love that's a real big profit.' The band also teased the collab by posting an Instagram photo from behind of the lead singer and a mystery woman standing side by side, gazing out of a floor-to-ceiling window at a cityscape. Moreover, Lisa's IG Story also featured a clip with audio, showing the K-pop star lying back while seemingly filming a music video. The single also serves as the first preview of Maroon 5's upcoming 2025 album, which the band first teased during Levine's recent appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon (April 8). 'Priceless' follows Maroon 5's 2021 album "Jordi". For Lisa, the track adds to her growing list of international collaborations as a solo artist, following the success of her 2021 debut single 'LALISA' and her ongoing work with Blackpink. McKenzie demands answers on the employment of foreign nationals on Robben Island
Members of the portfolio committee on Sports, Arts & Culture say it is essential for staff at the Robben Island Museum to understand the correct history of the Island and South Africa. The Minister of Sports, Arts & Culture, Gayton McKenzie, says his department will investigate the hiring of foreign nationals at the Robben Island Museum. McKenzie was speaking at a parliament portfolio committee meeting on Friday. He was responding to allegations that foreign nationals were being prioritised more than South Africans regarding vacancies at the museum. 'When I became minister, the first thing I asked was, 'How many foreign nationals are there in the department?' I was told none. ALSO READ: 'Who did they call?' – Gayton McKenzie on claims of interference in Joshlin Smith investigation 'I am busy drafting a letter to the ADG and I will CC Robben Island Museum on it. I want to assure the committee that I will handle this matter personally and consider it dealt with today. We cannot have a situation where foreign nationals are being given jobs while our children do not have jobs in the Western Cape,' he said. MPs demand answers on employment processes at Robben Island Museum Some portfolio committee members of parliament (MPs) raised concerns about the knowledge of South African history displayed by some foreign nationals employed at the museum. They also requested that the Robben Island Museum provide parliament with a report on the number of foreign nationals hired, how they were hired and why other candidates were rejected. The acting CEO of the Robben Island Museum, Jonty Tshipa, told the committee that he did not have the number of foreign nationals that have been hired at the top of his head. 'I do not have the numbers at the top of my head, but we have received from the department how many foreign nationals we have. May I request that I should provide accurate information to the committee through the secretary? I do not have the numbers at the top of my head now,' he said. There are also concerns about the maintenance of buildings on the Island and complaints about the Robben Island ferry. McKenzie on preservation of history on Robben Island McKenzie said the Robben Island Museum must be fully functional and equipped because of the expected tourists who will attend the G20 summit later this year in South Africa. Meanwhile, McKenzie also announced plans to build a wall of remembrance on Robben Island. He said this gesture is to honour all political activists who were locked up on the Island. 'We cannot have people spend half their lives on Robben Island, and there is not even a stone with their name on it. That is not right,' he said. McKenzie told MPs that he understood the importance of the Robben Island Museum because he himself had played a role in the fight against apartheid. 'I was not just a gangster, I had my own role to play, I may have not been on Robben Island, but I had my role.
