Oman sink Vietnam in opener of AFC Beach Soccer Asian Cup
Muscat: Oman beach soccer team began their campaign at AFC Beach Soccer Asian Cup Thailand 2025 with an emphatic 7-1 victory over Vietnam in Group D at the Jomtien Beach Arena on Friday. The triumph delivered three crucial points for champions of 2015 AFC Beach Soccer Asian Cup. Oman will meet Malaysia on Sunday in the following clash while Vietnam aim to bounce back as they will face Bahrain on the same day. Oman players kicked off the match strongly as they created many scoring attempts seeking early goals. Abdullah al Souti opened the scoring account in the early in the game as he sent the ball into the bottom right corner of the goal while Sami al Balushi doubled the result for Oman through a penalty kick as Oman led 2-0 in the opening period. In the second period, Mashal al Oraimi scored the third goal to make it 3-0 with a long-range strike before Abdullah al Souti returned to extend the lead by scoring the fourth goal and his second as Oman led 4-0. In the third and deciding period, Vietnam players pressed hard towards Oman's side as they managed to reduce the scoring gap by scoring their first goal through Ho Quoc Hung. Oman eye to secure winning start against Vietnam
MUSCAT: The Oman beach soccer team is all set to commence their Asian campaign at AFC Beach Soccer Asian Cup Thailand 2025. The national team players will meet Vietnam in the Group D opener on Friday. The match will start at 2 pm (Oman Time) at Jomtien Beach Arena in Pattaya, Thailand. In the same group, Bahrain will take on Malaysia. Oman's long-serving coach, Talib Hilal, will aim to secure a winning start and get much closer to book spot in the quarterfinals. In their eighth Asian appearance, Oman team players will target to rekindle their memories of 2015 as the team was crowned champions of the AFC Beach Soccer Asian Cup. Ahead of the opening match in the Asian Cup, Oman stunned hosts Thailand 7-2 in a friendly match as part of the team's short external camp in Thailand. Khalid al Oraimi, Abdullah al Souti, Sami al Balushi, Yahya al Murkhi and Mashal al Oraimi netted Oman's goals in the warm-up match against Thailand. Oman is a good team and has experience in the World Cup, but we also have our own plan. We will try to make things difficult for them and capitalise on our opportunities to win and qualify for the next round,' he added.

Oman beach soccer prepare for the AFC Asian Cup
MUSCAT, MARCH 15 The Oman beach soccer team arrived to Pattaya late on Thursday to commence a short external warm up camp ahead of the AFC Beach Soccer Asian Cup Thailand 2025 which will start on Thursday and will run until March 30. At the pristine sand of the Jomtien Beach Arena located in the eastern Thai city of Pattaya, Oman team players trained under watchful eyes of the experienced head coach Talib Hilal. The team's technical programme included several training sessions over the coming days, with a special focus on attacking and defensive strategies following their recent matches against Russia and Belarus in Muscat. Oman thumped Belarus 8-5 in the second friendly match last week in Muscat while in the first warm-up game, Belarus earned a 5-1 win over Oman. In earlier short camp in Muscat, Russia team edged Oman 6-5 in the opening international friendly and they earned their second straight win against Oman national beach soccer team by 6-3 in another preparatory match. Oman's experienced beach soccer coach Talib Hilal will finalise his starting lineup and tactical plans in the coming days before the competition begins. Under technical guidance of Talib, The national team won a gold medal in the Asian Beach Games in 2008 and then became champions at the AFC Beach Soccer Asian Cup in 2015. Furthermore, Oman were also silver medallists at the Asian Beach Soccer Cup in 2011 besides winning bronze medals in 2009 and 2019. Oman will vie against Bahrain, Malaysia and Vietnam in Group D at 2025 AFC Beach Soccer Asian Cup Thailand. The continental showpiece will also offer three tickets to the Fifa Beach Soccer World Cup Seychelles 2025 in coming May. Oman will begin their campaign in the Asian event with a match against Vietnam on March 21 and then they will meet Malaysia on March 23. Two days later, they will conclude the group stage with a match against Bahrain.
