George Mason earns share of Atlantic 10 regular-season title with 64-60 victory over Richmond
RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — Darius Maddox had 18 points to help George Mason defeat Richmond 64-60 on Saturday night, earning the Patriots a share of the Atlantic 10 Conference regular-season title. George Mason (24-7, 15-3) shares the title with VCU, but the Rams earned the top seed by virtue of a 70-54 road win over the Patriots in the only matchup this season. George Mason earns two byes and won't play until Friday's quarterfinals at Capital One Arena in Washington. The Spiders (10-21, 5-13) placed 13th and will play No. 12 seed Davidson in Wednesday's first round. Maddox shot 5 of 9 from the field, including 5 for 8 from 3-point range, and went 3 for 4 from the line for George Mason. Jalen Haynes added 13 points and eight rebounds. Brayden O'Connor scored nine. B. Artis White led the Spiders (10-21, 5-13) with 16 points and four assists. Mike Walz and Collin Tanner scored 10 points apiece with Walz adding six rebounds. O'Connor scored six points in the first half and George Mason went into the break trailing 32-24. Maddox scored 15 points in the second half to help George Mason rally. ___

The Flyers (22-9, 12-6) currently sit in third place, a half-game in front of Loyola Chicago and Saint Joseph's. The Ramblers travel to play Massachusetts on Saturday and the Hawks play at La Salle. Megan McConnell named Atlantic 10 Conference defensive player of the year
Duquesne University's Megan McConnell has been named the Atlantic 10 Conference defensive player of the year. McConnell, a standout at Chartiers Valley before attending Duquesne, was named All-Conference First Team and All-Academic Team in addition to her defensive player of the year honors. McConnell, a senior, is leading all of NCAA Division I players with 115 steals and has had five or more steals in a game on 11 different occasions this season. "We celebrate Meg and all of her achievements," head coach Dan Burt said. "She has made our team better both on and off the court with her play and leadership. Meg is the best player I've ever coached and the most improved player I've had in 28 years. She truly deserves all the recognition." McConnell also leads Duquesne in nearly all offensive statistical categories, leading the Atlantic 10 Conference with 18.8 points per game. She is the only player in all of Division I with more than 500 points, 200 rebounds, 100 assists, and 100 steals. Duquesne is 18-11 on the season with a 9-9 conference record. The Lady Dukes will face Fordham on Thursday in the second round of the Atlantic 10 Championship.

Saint Joseph's wins 90-76 over Fordham
NEW YORK — Xzayvier Brown scored 27 points as Saint Joseph's beat Fordham 90-76 on Saturday. Brown also added six rebounds and five assists for the Hawks (19-10, 11-6 Atlantic 10 Conference). Rasheer Fleming added 20 points while going 7 of 11 from the floor, including 2 for 4 from 3-point range, and 4 for 4 from the line while he also had eight rebounds and three blocks. Erik Reynolds II had 17 points and shot 6 for 12, including 3 for 8 from beyond the arc.
