Flamengo beats Mineiro to go top in Brazil's Serie A

Rio De Janeiro, July 28 (UNI) Leo Ortiz scored late as Flamengo returned to the top of Brazil's Serie A with a 1-0 home win over Atletico Mineiro. Ortiz broke the deadlock in the 75th minute with a powerful header past goalkeeper Everson after Luiz Araujo's delivery from a free kick on Sunday. The result at the Maracana Stadium leaves Flamengo with 36 points, two clear of second-placed Cruzeiro. Atletico Mineiro is 13th in the 20-team standings with 20 points so far. "It was difficult to break them down because they are very solid defensively," Ortiz told reporters after the match. "Today we managed to get the winning goal from a set piece, which shows that we're able to find solutions when games become difficult." In other fixtures on Sunday, Vasco da Gama drew 1-1 at Internacional, Bahia cruised to a 3-0 home win over Juventude, Sao Paulo prevailed 3-1 at home to Fluminense, and Ceara won 2-1 at Cruzeiro. The former Barcelona and Paris St Germain forward has had a horrible run of injuries, and left the pitch in tears last month after suffering his second significant injury of the year. The 33-year-old returned to his boyhood club Santos after a stint at Saudi Arabia's Al-Hilal, with his contract at the Brazilian side running until June 30 according to media reports. Neymar was giving little away when asked if he would extend his stay at Santos, who drew with CRB in both legs of their third-round tie. "I don't know yet," he told Amazon Prime. Santos are currently second bottom of the league, having lost six of their first nine matches of the 2025 season. (Reporting by Chiranjit Ojha in Bengaluru; Editing by Peter Rutherford)

Former Brazil star Hulk marks fifth anniversary with his ex-wife's NIECE with heartfelt social media post

Former Brazil striker Hulk claimed that 'every day is a new blessing' in a touching message marking his fifth anniversary with his ex-wife's niece. Hulk was previously married to Camila's aunt, Iran Angelo, with the couple together for 12 years. They had three children together between 2007 and 2019; sons Ian and Tiago, and a daughter, Alice - who are cousins to his new wife. The 38-year-old, who plays for Atletico Mineiro, married Camila Angelo in a religious ceremony in January, with the two already having previously tied the knot at a civil ceremony in 2020. He took to Instagram to write: '5 years by your side and I can only thank God for our story. Every day is a new blessing, every moment a new memory. 'May our love continue to grow with strength, respect and happiness. I love you, my wife, my life.' In 2020, Hulk stunned many when he married Camila following the end of his 12-year relationship with Iran. One of Iran's sisters, Rayssa, had some scathing remarks for Camila on social media. Rayssa wrote: 'Today is a hard day to swallow, a day that reveals how far betrayal can go when it comes from the people we least expect. If my mother were alive, I am sure she would not be able to bear such monstrosity. Seeing a granddaughter, who grew up under her roof, betray her own family in such a cruel way would be an impossible blow to overcome.' In 2021, Hulk and Camila confirmed that they were expecting their first child, Zaya. Last year they announced they were expecting a second child, Aisha. Reports of the relationship between Hulk and Camila emerged in December 2019, just five months after his marriage with Iran ended. It is believed Hulk told his family about his relationship with Camila at this time - including his children Ian, Tiago, and Alice. The couple married in September 2020, when Hulk was still playing for Chinese side Shanghai SIPG. A spokesman for the striker said in a statement at the time: 'Hulk called the parents and the brother of Camila and told them the truth. 'It was Hulk himself who made the information public because he had nothing to hide. 'His position is transparency and he wants to avoid lies and malicious comments.'

Within months, he started dating her niece Camila Sousa Angelo in April 2019. And now they have been together for six years - including formally tying the knot in marriage in January 2025. Hulk took to social media on Tuesday to mark their initial anniversary. He posted a photo kissing his new wife Camila to his 4.6million Instagram followers. Hulk captioned it: "Six years by your side and I can only thank God for our story. "Each day is a new blessing, every moment a new memory. "May our love continue to grow with strength, respect and happiness. "I love you, my wife, my life!" He then added the date "20/04/2020" with ring, heart and praying emojis. Watch ex-Brazil star Hulk incredibly miss from a yard out with chance that was easier to score for Atletico Mineiro It is understood that is when they initially married due to Camila needing a visa to stay in China where he was playing at the time. They welcomed daughter Zaya in 2022 and then had Aisha last year. The couple were all smiles in the sunshine in January when they officially got married in Hulk's hometown of Campina Grande. A sea of roses, huge chandeliers and artwork filled the church, named The Diocesan Cathedral of Our Lady of the Conception, where the ceremony took place. But the relationship caused controversy in the family, with his ex-wife Iran's sister Rayassa taking to Instagram to hit out at the couple and their wedding for his "betrayal". She wrote: 'Today is a hard day to swallow, a day that reveals how far betrayal can go when it comes from the people we least expect. "It is sad to realise that Judas is not only in ancient stories, sometimes he sleeps under the same roof, eats at the same table and, at the right moment, stabs himself in the back. "Wanting what belongs to someone else, wanting to live the life of someone who trusted you, is a reflection of an empty heart, incapable of creating its own happiness." Former Porto and Zenit man Hulk is still playing professionally, racking up more than 120 goals for Atletico Mineiro since signing in 2021. He earned 49 caps for Brazil, finding the net 11 times.
