Filipinas schedule at 2025 ASEAN Women's Championship
The Philippine Women's National Football Team is defending its title in the 2025 ASEAN Women's Championship (MSIG Serenity Cup) which will run until August 19 in Vietnam. The Filipinas are pooled with Myanmar, Australia U23, and Timor Leste in Group B of the tournament. Here is the schedule of the Filipinas in the group stage: August 7, 8:30 p.m. - Filipinas vs Timor Leste August 10, 8:30 p.m. - Australia U23 vs Filipinas August 13, 8:30 p.m. - Filipinas vs Myanmar Only the top two teams from each group will advance to the knockout stage. Group A is composed of host country Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia, and Indonesia. The Filipinas will be led by the likes of Hali Long, Inna Palacios, and Mcdaniel sisters Olviia and Chandler. Filipinas aim for title defense in ASEAN Women's Championship with eyes still on bigger picture
The Philippine Women's National Football Team is in Vietnam for the 2025 ASEAN Women's Championship (MSIG Serenity Cup) and its aim is to defend the title it won in 2022. However, for head coach Mark Torcaso, they are still keeping an eye on the bigger picture which is another stint in the AFC Women's Asian Cup and a possible slot in the FIFA Women's World Cup. The Philippines is grouped with Myanmar, Australia U23, and Timor Leste in the group stage of the regional tourney. "I'm not entirely worried about the opponents that we've got in our group," Torcaso said. "I think if we focus on ourselves, I think we can go to another World Cup." "We're going to really focus on what we need to do over the next six to eight months and make sure that we're 100% ready and it starts with this AFF tournament," he added. The lineup from the 2022 edition of the tournament, however, is quite different from this year's roster. READ MORE | Filipinas lineup for 2025 ASEAN Women's Championship Sarina Bolden had an ACL injury last April, while the likes of Katrina Guillou, Sara Eggesvik, and Meryll Serrano are with their respective mother clubs as the ASEAN tournament falls on a non-FIFA window. Still, Torcaso believes this is a good opportunity for some of the young players to get experience and step up for the team. "We also have to consider that there are a lot of young players here. We want to give the opportunity to play senior international football and see if they're ready for the Asian Cup because that's obviously what we want to aim for and that's where we want to go to another World Cup," he said. Among those who moved up from the youth team are Isabella Alamo, Lyka Cuenco, Jaycee DeFazio, Azumi Oka, Aaliyah Schinaman, Tea Pidding, and Adelaide Wyrzynski. Veterans such as Hali Long, Inna Palacios, and the Mcdaniel sisters Chandler and Olivia are also returning for another tour of duty. Prior to the opening match against Timor Leste on Thursday, Torcaso said he plans to have five to six training sessions with the hopes of integrating the new players in the system, "We've got three new faces in this camp, and then we've got two or three U-17 players that are coming in for the first time too. So we're going to use as much of the training sessions to integrate those new players, get them familiar with each other and show what our culture is in the team and what our fighting spirit is as a country," said Torcaso.
